  • In this video my brother Martyn and I head to the Brecon Beacons to tackle the highest peak in southern Wales.... Pen Y Fan. With Corn Du, Cribyn & Fan Y Big thrown in too. It was an absolutely stunning day and we saw this stunning part of Wales at it's best.

    Dean what a good thriple of film's these 3 were ,I did crib goch a couple of years ago from llyn gwynant campsite and returned down the Watkin path ,it certainly isn't for the faint hearted ,I did a vid of my version too although not a patch on yours, incidentally I was only at llyn gwynant early June this year when we decided to go up tryfan and onto the cantilever stone, look it up you'd love it .
    After seeing the Brecon beacons the wife and I have said we need to visit it, bit of a trek because I don't think there's a straight driving route there from chesterfield although it won't put us off , thanks again for an evening of great videography

    Did the loop last February, but we started from the other side and headed straight up to Pen y Fan, ticking off the others afterwards. Had dodgy weather that day and had nothing like the views you guys experienced. Ended up of piste like a couple of amateurs and had to wade through a freezing river. Good fun though all the same! Good video.

    I've really enjoyed the last few weeks videos Dean, you are currently motoring through my list of 'to do' walks...Ben Nevis, Crib Goch and the Mach loop in quick succession! I'll get round to them at some point...
    Also very well done with the trail running, you've spent years marvelling at their fitness and now you're one of those people that jog past me on Kinder while I'm quickly expiring 😂

    • @DeanRead
      @DeanRead  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for watching Lee and for your kind words. I've enjoyed editing these last few videos. I took me a while to get around to it though, been really busy with work and adventures but I could/should have made time for it. I'm loving the trail running at the moment, I was thinking the other day about how I'd always thought that this type of fitness was out of my reach... I'm no way near where I'd like to be but with time I'll be able to run up the hills instead of fast walking. Then again, that's the beauty of trail running. I hear it's perfectly acceptable to walk sections so I'm more than happy doing that for now 😁👍

      I certainly was completely stunned not just by his physical ability but the mental toughness needed to endure that distance, pain and hardly any sleep. Sounds like you are doing well and making significant gains, so hats off to you too! I had a little test run down Cavedale a while ago just to see if I can still run over rough and loose ground. Didn’t fall over, so took that as a good sign!
