Arguably, this was the first commercially successful rap song, in the history of rap.
yes it was!!!
Sugarhill gang Rappers Delight was the first I remember in 1979, but agree this was the 1st widely known commercial one in 1981 x
@@diversk Uhh yeah, it was Rappers Delight. Rapture isn't a rap song. It's rock with rap in it. Either way, it's still such a cool song!!! And Debbie Harry sounds so great here!!!!!!!
You are absolutely right.
First song with rap that hit #1.
Yeah the Soldier Boy song live at Glasto. You love to hear it.
at her age still sound better than most younger singers
still great music and an amazing lady
Hard to believe she was 55 and still one of the sexiest women on the planet!
She looks and sounds great.
Clem Burke's drumming... sparkling high-hat play as usual.
You are right, Clem is fantastic!
Outstanding performance!
Great song, great performance
My joint fave song along with “Atomic “ ...she’s beautiful AND can sing ! Total Goddess x
One of the few Rap song's Ive ever liked in my life. The Girl really had it going on in the 80's, what a stunning beauty!
Wow she was 54 here looks hot! Great song probably their best.
The Rap section is amazing!
still great music and an amazing lady
i love the way the ulra rich bass licks bleed thru on this song, just so damn awesome:)
I love you Deborah Harry.
damn shes so beautiful and a, fucking Rock star
FOREVER Blondie!!!
Debbie Harry is absolutely beautiful alwayed loved her
I was only seven when this first came out. I remember it was being played on the radio a lot and at our local kids disco during school holidays 😂
We had never heard anything like it before. This catchy high pitched song and then she would start 'talking' along to the music. It was genius.
Such a trailblazer. What a band. What a woman. Who could fail to ❤
Blonde, a great BAND!
Fantastic best version of this song
... I'm njoying this video 2 da MAXXXX ... F ....g GREAT 👍
When r ya cming 2 ch8cago .. ??
Sempre bellissima la nostra Blondie 😘😘😘💚🤍❤
Blondie forever the blond bombshell.
When I was young, when she started rapping I hit the floor.
Christ that was good
Serious talent.
Groundbreaking adventurists.
Love Blpndie
And
DEBORA HARRY❤️❤️❤️❤️
Such a lasting talent, I feel like She and maybe I, have gotten better with age. Deborah owns Rap AND Punk, and She Rocks Too!!!
i love the way the ulra rich bass licks bleed thru on this song, just so damn awesome:)
getting Tommy Kessler solved the lead guitar issue nicely
at her age still sound better than most younger singers
98
I'd really enjoy hearing the isolated Bass track from this song, he's killing it
Rapture has one of the deadliest baselines out there
El primer RAP grabado en estudio lo hizo Blondie, He aquí la prueba.
Awesome 'Raw' video.
Pity about the audio quality but i'm sure someone will fix it up.
Still, this raw video can never be replaced.
Thank you for sharing this. ;)
Yes, the sound mix for tv was awful. You can barely here Paul Carbonara on guitar.
Beautiful woman!!!..
Very!
@@BlondieAndBeyond 🥰
This is alot better than a video I saw from 1983. I'm glad she can actually hit the notes.
Im in that crowd somewhere
She stirs me into a rapture
Deborah Harry- Cool!
Blondie always sound great live!
I've never seen her dance so much
Mi sueño cantar esta canción, el rap no es fácil.
oh my fucking god
First rapper!
Why is this song so hot? Only Blondie could pull off that talking part of the song! 😂
This. Was rap before people had heard or named lyrics rap.
@bagobuilder
check any live videos on tv or the net. the instruments are always mixed out of balance and so if the vocals are too loud, they always sound that human touch of an eight of a note off and that's enough to make it "a mess". but you would not have noticed when being there in front of the stage. be it blondie now, 25 years ago or anyone else in any time. with this in mind, you'd realize this performance here IS top notch. (and let's not even start on auto pitch vocal effects...)
♥️
After decades Chris Stein has not learnt to play guitar yet. But in spite of that the band is terrific, great new arrangements almost bring that superclassic into hard rock territory. Debbie's Voice has grown up sooo deep.
yepheth can you elaborate a little more?
Patricia García terrible solo by Chris. That's what he meant.
Not only top notch but much better than the studio version
debby is the coolest!
Get on eating cars and bars you the men from mars
I wish the sound quality was better, she may have exceeded the original version !
James Walls watch the one live in NY that same year, sounds very similar with better audio
@@TheMelanieWright Thank you !
I gotta believe the album version is enhanced. I mean who can sing like that?
Even here, at 54, she has her killer voice and still moved like a snake. Great song, well performed.
54 is not old
She looks good for 54
She's in her 70s now, and.... I'll keep my mouth shut, but damb. I'm still in love.
She still has cute teeth.
She's still rocking on! Go little Debbie
this was 21 years ago lol
Bien guapa Blondie
I also like bootleg Blondie version of rapture
getting Tommy Kessler solved the lead guitar issue nicely
Still a shame they didn’t include Nigel Harrison when they reunited.
i love the way the ulra rich bass licks bleed thru on this song, just so damn awesome:)
what happened to the clasic guitar solo............. shit one more band that cant play their solos
Not to mention he really went off the scale on his solo at the end. He even made that "I screwed that up" face.
@bagobuilder I thought she did a fabulous job !! I'm sure the 200,000 + at this concert would mostly agree.
Looks like mother having Big fun in her kitchen with her red dress on♥️
This song embodies rock, and rap. Yes, rap. One early white female who did rap in the 80's. I seriously think this song, would be hard for some rap singers, who can't carry a tune- but only could do the rap part of the song.
Exactly
What make of guitar is Chris Stein playing there?
Anyone know?
Yeah the man from Mars is still eating cars, he's eating bars, and still eats guitars......at 59. Wow.
Debbie such a great chick
Doesn't get any better than Deborah Harry fired up with Blondie
hoonigan
Debra is so fine.
Elvis Ramone
Is that Hillary singing ??

If you notice at around 5:16 he got distracted by a stage invader. It was brief but obvious.
Absolutely horrific audio quality.
Nobody's forcing you to watch. ✌️
ricegum
Oh my God, she looks terrible....
She was nearly sixty years old for God's sake. And for that age I don't think she looks too shabby at all. Don't forget it was probably late in the set; she would have been perspiring and the weather at outdoor festivals (especially Glastonbury) can be brutal and fuck with women's hair etc mercilessly. Be kinder to us ladies!
Correction: she looks TERRIFIC!
+aerialkate She actually only 53/54 here
OMG and you look gross!!
Gerd Seyer she look like you
