There wasn't a actual primary; it was a coronation. Some states kept other candidates off the ballot and other states didn't even hold a vote.
They can do an open convention then ppl can run and pitch themselves then the delegates vote to see who gets the majority thus the new D nominee. But they’ll probably do a closed vote
What primary? Did I miss the debates? Didn't the Biden team push to keep opponents off ballots? Where was his primary campaign? Biden got 19M primary votes in 2020 and only 14M in 2024. Hard a mandate. And who do we think is withholding donations - just big donors? The people are speaking via withholding donations, lower vote totals, and a dismal and declining approval rating. Also, as a point of fact, we don't have a direct primary. We elect delegates who pledge to a candidate. The delegates are people active in the party. The only thing that secures the actual nomination is the pledge of the delegates. Let's not follow the GOP talking points.

Dem voters have not had a 'real' say in who their nominee for a long time. In 2016, Bernie Sanders was well on his way to become the 'voters choice' democratic nominee -- DNC Superdelegates, leaked DNC leadership emails, fundraising agreements etc show how DNC pushed out Sanders to only leave HRC.
In 2020, Bernie Sanders once again was going to be the 'voters choice' -- When it looked like Sanders might eke out a win in a three way race -- DNC pushed Buttigieg, Klobuchar, and others out near Super Tuesday so the votes would coalesce to Biden.
This year, DNC worked overtime to keep Phillips and Kennedy off ballots...and didn't hold primaries in some states.....
So, DNC allows you to vote for your nominee but *only after the DNC* gives you the 'one' nominee. Don't get it twisted, voters in the Dem party do not pick their nominee.
Obama supported Hillary as the candidate because he felt Biden was not in a good place because his son had just passed. So instead of backing Biden who was interested in running, Obama backed Hillary.

Historically, polls showing how a presidential candidate polls relative to the Senate candidate of their party are very accurate.

KH was not that popular in CA. The beginning of San Francisco's decline began while she was the DA. The city is now turning more centrist and beginning to clean up which will take a long time. Meanwhile, the mayor of Oakland is competing with the mayor of Dalton, Illinois for worst mayor.
