    Thanks for visiting my channel, I hope you enjoyed the video! I founded Caterpillar Cross Stitch in 2015 when I tried desperately for months to find a modern baby sampler my mum could stitch for new baby Felicity that would fit in with her simple, contemporary nursery. I love cross stitch, running, baking fruit cakes, drinking gin, eating salted caramel ice cream and most crafts!
    See you soon and happy stitching! Sally x

    Marie, your suggestions were a total "game changer". I REALLY needed this tutorial. I followed your steps "to the letter" and I can't believe the difference in the feel and look of my stitches! I practiced on 28 ct. linen and really enjoyed the experience. I, too, had never heard of the concept of "leaning into the post" as a starting point ... but it truly makes a world of difference! A new subscriber here with a heartfelt THANK YOU.

    Wow!!! You are fantastic!!! I just fogged about 14 hours of my project after your video.... I'm doing a large stocking project for my son. It wasn't "feeling right". I realize I did not have my stitches "leaning on the post". I hemmed and hawed whether it was worth redoing. Spent hours snipping out the threads. And WOW AM I GLAD I DID!!! THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME.... from giving up on cross stitch! Your an outsta ding teacher and demonstrator.... So happy I found you💕💕

    Very beneficial tutorial and easy to understand and follow. I now realize why I was having more difficulty feeling the right tension on the fiddler's cloth piece I was stitching on. " Leaning the post" helped explain why my stitches were sinking down and I was unhappy with my stitching. Maybe future pieces will be better!

    This was great and super helpful. So, unless my pattern specially says, it’s 2 over 2? I’m stitching on 25 count Dublin linen for the first time. how would stitches "slip" under horizontal threads but not "slip" under vertical threads when the stitches are diagonal to both? if you turn your fabric 90-degrees, then your stitches are next to horizontal threads! 😱 this seems like a myth lol

    I always stitch so that I bring the needle up in the lower left, go to the upper right... then after I finish the row in that direction, I come back by going lower right to upper left. How is this impacted by 'lean against the post' if at all?

    • @CaterpillarCrossStitch
      @CaterpillarCrossStitch  Před rokem

      Thank you so much for watching ☺️ there would be no impact at all, you would still bring the first stitch up in the same spot, just go diagonally up instead of down ☺️ x
