    ABOUT ME:
    Thanks for visiting my channel, I hope you enjoyed the video! I founded Caterpillar Cross Stitch in 2015 when I tried desperately for months to find a modern baby sampler my mum could stitch for new baby Felicity that would fit in with her simple, contemporary nursery. I love cross stitch, running, baking fruit cakes, drinking gin, eating salted caramel ice cream and most crafts!
    See you soon and happy stitching! Sally x

    Thanks for this video. I'm an experienced linen stitcher, but my philosophy is that you can always learn something newm and I did. Saved the video to watch again just in case I forgot something.

    Wow. What a great tutorial. I’m new to cross stitch and have been using Aida fabrics. I’ve been intimidated by linen because of the little holes but don’t enjoy the stiffness of Aida. Your explanation was clear and easy to understand. Thanks. I’ll be watching future FT.

    Thank you so much! I have a linen bookmark kit and the pattern isn’t done very well, so that didn’t help. But after years of cross stitching, stitching large projects, I had never done anything on linen. Especially not a 28 ct. so thank you for demonstrating this!!

  • @lauriemorales999
    @lauriemorales999 Pƙed 2 lety +1

    What exact linen were you using in your demonstration? Some of the linens that I have tried to stitch on are very loosely woven so the fabric is very floppy and it makes it extremely difficult to get my stitches even. In addition, several of them have had woven threads that were pretty uneven making it difficult to figure out where to stitch so that the stitches are even and there were a lot of slubs throughout the fabric which again makes it difficult for a new linen stitcher to work with. In very short fashion I became extremely frustrated and overwhelmed with the whole idea of stitching on linen and gave up and went back to my tried and true 25 count lugana fabric. The fabric shown in the video looks more even and maybe a bit stiffer (i.e., similar to lugana) which might make it an easier fabric for someone new to linen or who at the very least is interested in trying it.

    It’s the more to get to another spot that gets me - not the one row of stitches - counting to stitch above or below on the chart omg the counting to get there - think I’ll just stay at 14 count

      Yes it can. A higher count will make the pattern smaller or you can stitch over 1 instead of 2

    • @CaterpillarCrossStitch
      @CaterpillarCrossStitch  Pƙed rokem

      Hi, thank you so much for watching! There is a general guide that size 24 needle is used for 14ct Aida or 28ct evenweave/linen; size 26 is used for 16ct Aida or 32ct evenweave/linen and size 28 is used for anything above 18ct Aida or 36ct evenweave/linen.
      This is just a general guide though, some people prefer to use a smaller needle than recommended and some bigger. I'd recommend to try the smaller needles and see what suits you best!
      Happy stitching 🌾
