Dark Prince isn't too bad of a localization imo as that's basically just his title, although it is unfortunate that we never got the scene where they chant Satan's name over and over in PPT.

Funny thing to mention about Puyo Puyo Tetris 2: it seems Sega must've been aware of how Schezo's localized lines caused an uproar, so they did their research once again!
Case in point: at the end of Puyo Puyo 15th Anniversary, Schezo makes a wish for people to stop calling him a pervert. It works, but he & Ms. Accord quickly discover a loophole - Schezo can still be called similar words (such as creeper). However, Ms. Accord says that Schezo can fix this if he works on not flubbing his vocabulary. So guess what Schezo reveals to Arle in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2?

The removal of Satan's "frustrated" animation from the original game seems like unnecessary reprogramming and bad writing. Instead of mispronouncing "Satan" as "Santa", she could have similarly mispronounced "Dark Prince" as "Dork Prince".

That was kinda just the vibe for localizations like this at the time. It's arguably the same reason (or one other major reason) Puyo Puyo was reskinned to mean bean machine and kirby's avalanche. People had this notion that cutesy, funny games like that wouldn't sell as well as something that takes itself seriously or has a bit of edge to it. It's also, I suspect, why they changed Nasu's name to "blue ghost" or what have you. It's a vain attempt to create tension that wasn't there.

The Puyo Puyo Quest crossover event in Sonic Runners was perhaps the _only_ time Dark Prince was referred to as "Satan" in the in-game localizations. Not exactly surprised they missed that considering this was likely just a simple oversight due to how fast these events would've needed to have been translated into other languages.

So there was something positive that came out of PPT2's existence. If only the rest of the release had had any inkling of quality control. Was quite the mess at launch, so it's no surprise the translation wasn't much better in that regard- you only had two versions of PPT to deal with (the 3DS version's online was discontinued before the release of the Switch version, much less PC which took nearly an extra year) if you wanted to match against someone (edit: three JP versions, I knew the PS4 version existed and I had heard faint mention of the 3DS one, but I genuinely never knew the XB1 version existed in Japan until this video caused me to search up the Wikia since I'd memoryholed the 3DS version's existence and the video got me curious to search up the wiki for release dates.). In the sequel you had six, two of which were compatible (XBox Series S and X use the same online for each other), four of which could not play with each other. Sega has a history of treating the Puyo games awful, but that release was on a whole other level, to say nothing of *groan* the unfinished launch status that meant they released the rest of the finished product in three waves over the course of a year. 'What a mess' would be an understatement.
PS: Modern CZcams mobile is hell to type comments on, paired with awful phone typing that shows two, sometimes four tiny lines at a time. Please forgive any messiness in the comment due to editing.

okay puzzel games are not as succesfull in the west like how they are in the east and having all puyo games relase would make people scrub it off as another tetris and that is not profitble

Kitsy Cat is literally what Puyo Puyo is based on and it is the most American thing America has ever America'ed- It's just like Looney Tunes no seriously it is just like a copy of Looney Tunes so they went from Copying Looney Tunes to Copying Dragon Quest and Dr. Mario what such b*stards!!!!1 How do they keep getting away with this?
