@@dereksnively7692 After the blown call, if that is what it was, the Lions chose to go for the two point conversion a second time, and were intercepted. That should have ended the game right there. HOWEVER, those same REFS called an off side on the dallas defense, and afforded the Lions a THIRD opportunity to score. They should have just kicked the field goal to send the game to OT. Instead, the coach willfully chose to go for two a third time, and failed. They only have themselves to blame for the loss.
It's really sad that Lions players have to fear being fined for telling the truth. This sport is even corrupted. The NFL is spineless.

Your Grandpa was right. In the 70s Dallas had some of the dirtiest players and got away with a ton of infractions. But the league had them titled Americas Team. They either got away with stuff or their opponents got called for BS.

There seems to be an increase in these bad ref. calls since the legalization of sports betting. Something stinks and the NFL should audit Mr. Allen's financial activity and associations. If Mr. Allen is innocent, it sends a message to refs about bad calls. If he is found to be guilty then the NFL looks like they're working hard to protect the sport. It's really a no lose move for the league.

It's not just about betting though. Think of the WWE...fans pay to see their favorites battle in an arena and rooting for them to become the victor. We all know the WWE is fixed, yet people still pay to watch it. The NFL is also getting to be this way, keeping the "underdog who has never made it to a super bowl" to keep that same title so it's "exciting" to root for said underdog again next year. If they Lions ever DO make it/win a super bowl, they lose that branding and now are just "another team that was won a championship". They stand to lose the value of people rooting for the underdog if the underdog wins.

When #68 was interviewed after the game he said I did what I was told to do. No mention of him reporting being eligible. They tried to be tricky by having 3 players go up to referee Allen and it backfired on them.

These refs need to start being held accountable. And calls should be able to be reviewed in NYC especially is it’s clearly a bad call. Players shouldn’t get fined for simply just answering a question about a call that was obviously bad.

My understanding is refs get graded for each game so there is accountability in theory.
That said, I would not be surprised if the NFL uses the refs to fix games. We have seen too many horrible calls to not suspect something fishy.
Hutchinson, not Hendershot, was actually trying to trip someone. Had the refs not blown that call Dallas scores at least a field goal and Detroit never gets a chance to win. And Richard Sherman broke it down perfectly, saying Detroit was trying to throw smoke screens and it backfired.
The refs are doing exactly what they're told to do. Why do you think for years now there's always games where they let the teams play until it comes down to the wire, and then they start throwing flags on critical plays that effect the outcome of the game. Many times they'll penalize one team for any infraction they can while blatantly not throw flags for the other team. You really think the refs didn't see the PI on the saints receiver during the 2019 nfc championship? Do you think the refs didn't hear the players report who was eligible or not? Why do you think teams like the lions ALWAYS get screwed by the refs? Why do you think for Years new England had every call/no call go their way? If you were that incompetent at your job, would you continue to be employed? It's not like the terrible officiating isn't talked about year after year, and the NFL always gaslights the fans rather than be like "yeah its messed up we need to do better and find some competent officials." That's because, again, the refs are doing exactly what they're told to do and as far as the NFL is concerned they're doing a great job. It's not a coincidence that ever since legal sports books/money lines and live in game betting began, endorsed by the NFL (remember the NFL tells the public which way they should bet, and as a result the public gets screwed more often then not especially on the O/U) the really crazy officiating and unexplainable terrible coaching (calling/not calling time outs where it makes no sense, not running the ball when they should, star players unexplainable benching in championship games, teams being incredible in the first half but playing like amateurs in the 2nd half, the fact that doinks on FG's used to be EXTREMELY rare but nowadays they happen every week usually multiple times a week) honestly I've been noticing these things more and more for the last 10 years and it would be foolish of me to not recognize the patterns and naive to think that the NFL isn't rigging games at this post after everything thats happened.

So Decker walks away from the huddle and gets 2 feet in front of the ref just to say nothing to him? Weird. I think the ref got distracted, didn't hear Decker but saw #70 walking up to him and thought this guy is the one that reported and thus created the biggest brain farts in NFL history.
Even better... video and photo evidence shows Decker approached the ref and said something. It also shows that decker made the chest sign indicating he was eligible too. The NFL memo on this issue, which seeks to blame the Lions, said that decker didn't do both and Skipper did. Video and photo evidence shows Decker did both and Skipper did not.
#70 ran in with his hand up and his other hand on his number. Brad clearly is pointing at #70 as he is running giving Brad the change signs. This is on #70 that’s the reason I think he was the most upset. #70 wasn’t supposed to given any change signs.

Thank you! I got Sunday ticket this season. All it did was open my eyes to how rigged this game is. There are a good dozen or so teams that get called significantly different by the officials than the other 20 teams. If you were a fan of one of those dozen teams, you stood no shot regardless of how talented your roster was. It is so insanely clear and obvious that the NFL is rigged and anyone who's been a fan of football for more than a season or two should be able to easily spot it.
The only recourse is to stop watching

That Officiating crew has blown several late game calls or no calls, and the NFL did downgrade them so they will not work any playoff games this year, but the fact that this crew has been terrible all year late in games speaks volume, I am not one who believes the NFL as being rigged, but the more and more I see the refs miss blatant calls has me wondering now.

THERE's the answer.
Remember THREE linemen #58, #68 and #70 were talking to the ref. If the Lions were on the ball, ONLY #68 should have approached and talked to the ref. So that’s a screwup on the Lions. That’s how the ref got confused about which linemen were eligible. And then the ref told the Dallas defense that only #70 was an eligible receiver so the play should never stand.
I was there front row behind that one guy wearing the lions jersey, my mom absolutely reported. Such BS!!
#70 is Skipper. #58 is Sewell. #68 is Decker. I was standing on the sideline and heard Decker say "reporting" to Allen. I didn't hear Skipper say anything. This play was diagramed for Allen at the pregame conference where it was diagramed as a weak side tackle eligible pass. Allen knew what was coming. Perhaps Allen just assumed that Skipper would be playing the weak side tackle position or perhaps he forgot Decker's number while walking over to Dallas. Or perhaps it was purposeful.

The smoke screens and mirrors that Detroit tried to confuse Allen backfired. The refs are human and are subject to mistakes we ALL make. I don't hear anyone talking about the accountability Detroit and their staff had in their own shenanigans. When Allen, the ref, announced which player was eligible to the Cowboys and then to EVERYONE else, the Lions staff had the same audio that everyone else had in that stadium. They had the opportunity to correct the ref and then identify the correct player who was eligible. I can't possibly believe that no on the Detroit sideline on the field or in the booths did not hear that #70 was being announced TWICE as the eligible player. The announcement was not heard during the TV broadcast. There is a visual hand motion that is made and telling the ref when a player reports. Just because Goff told Decker to report doesn't it mean that he actually did it with the hand gestures which is required by rule. What was said to Allen is questionable. Detroit CHOSE not to correct Allen, given the opportunity to do so, and rolled the dice. Are any Cowboy haters talking about the erroneous tripping call on Dallas that shoud have given us a first down and taken more time off the clock if called correctly, essentially ending the game. We got screwed too before the allege Allen debacle. Check out this vid put out by the NFL. Campbell buiilt a trap, sat it, and got caught in it in 3 failed attempts to win the game.

As a lifelong lions fan, this sort of thing happens all the time to Detroit. The Lions have too small of a market and fan base, so the NFL always steps in to protect their viewership and profits.

You do realize that even if they didn't call the penalty for illegal touching, they still could've called 2 other penalties on the offensive line right!? One of the other penalties that could've been called was illegal formation and I don't remember what the other one was, but they could've called them out on 3 different penalties on the same play!! And what nobody seems to talk about is the fact that the lions shouldn't have even been in that position to win the game!! The refs called a bs penalty on Dallas for tripping right before the lions had that possession, and it took them back to 1st and 25, but that penalty shouldn't have been called on Dallas, it should've been called on the lions, to be more specific, it should've been called on Hutchinson!! And Dallas was already in field goal range until that penalty was called, so if the refs called the penalty on the right team/player Dallas would've been 10 yards closer with another 1st down!! And they would've walked away with no less than a field goal.... And even if they didn't get a field goal, there wouldn't have been enough time on the clock for the lions to get in that ""controversial" position!! So it looks to me like the refs tried to screw Dallas in that game, cause like I said, if they would've called the tripping penalty on the right player, the lions wouldn't have even had a chance to be in that position to win the game!!

As a Cowboys fan, I was disappointed with how they played that night anyway. Some guys made some big mistakes and it would support the point about us not deserving the win. Also, if 68 is actually the one who reported and 70 did not, but the ref said it was the other way around, then there is something crucial going on because that’s just not cool. I hope that officiating team is held responsible in someway. I haven’t cared about the win that much since the game ended.

Bears fan here, #70 DID not report, he was the late player coming on to the field, he ABSOLUTELY was not the one who reported. You could have been confused because #68 was with #58 talking to the referee, but #70 did not get there before the referee walked off!
People CONTINUE to say that Sewell is #70, but Sewell is #58 and he was with #68 Decker, #70 who never spoke with the referee on that play was Skipper! This whole thing was botched. Usually, they announce "#70 is eligible" on the mic, did they do that here?
I have heard that 68 did not line up in a legal position to be a receiver. As a Cowboys fan, normally these weird endings go against us. If everything happened exactly the same, except it was San Fran or Philly, the refs probably don't throw the flag, and the 2 points stand.
If Decker did not report as eligible, it would have been an illegal formation. That is the reason that Sarah Thomas said that she threw a flag for illegal formation (after originally stating that the flag was for Skipper reporting as eligible and then being covered -- even Allen knew that was not illegal). A legal formation is at least 7 players on the line with the two players on each end being eligible. Decker was on one end. Brown was on the other end. The formation was legal if Decker reported.

Now as for "normally these weird endings go against us" if that is true, its only true when a ref is not involved. Dallas gets, over all, a styatistically improbable amount of beneficial calls.
