    I agree rape is a form of murder , I was raped twice when I was young close to 60 years ago. I was completely dehumanized by my predators. I had no voice. Thankyou for speaking for so many of us who nobody would hear or see

      Gerry Monahan in my experience, people who lived through horrible circumstances, tend to be too mature and wise to nitpick other people's expressions of their own pain. As someone who was sexually assaulted as a young teenager, I can agree, it did kill a piece of me that I never got back. And I'm convinced, people who lost someone through murder, don't feel the need to shame me for this, nor do they feel like they need to measure their pain against others. That's usually something immature people do, who don't actually know real pain...

    Thank you to her for stating out loud that sexual crimes are akin to murder!!! IT IS!!!! She is absolutely correct!!!! It violates, humiliates and de-bases the individual for the rest of their lives. It literally completely changes how they view themselves and their personal value. Then it is a life-long fight to try to rise above it and not continue to let it define your choices. That takes so much time and energy to do there is not a lot left to spend anywhere else. So what quality of life is left?!

    Sexual harassment starts in a female's life as soon as you get boobs if not before. And you're repeatedly told that it's normal and you just have to put up with it- and that it's a matter of primary importance that you avoid making the man uncomfortable, no matter how uncomfortable you are. It's time to have this conversation. It's time for the self-destructive complicity to stop, and time for men to step outside their comfortable bubble and actively listen to women. Some people may choose not to listen, but the conversation will not stop just because you tune it out. You will be left behind as the world moves forward, and only you will to be blame for your ensuing disaffection. That was a choice.

      I appreciate that she distanced herself from Argento but I wish she would be more balanced with referring to some people as alleged victims and not others. I'm also glad she was quite clear that a female agent was the one that told her she had to be 'sexy' to get cast in movies. a lot of people skip over the female pimps that help these Hollywood types lure young girls to secluded places. obviously the person who actually commits the crime is worse but the enabler is worthy of some scorn as well

      Most modelling and acting requires one to be "sexy" or exude attractiveness. It is the standard of the business and everyone knows about the dark side that is quite prevalent in those industries, even if one is going to involve their children in participating. So much so that many people and parents would never even consider doing it because the overt risk is far too high. It is what these businesses sell.

      Em Dee -There are people who experience trauma and get past it stronger and without losing themselves. I’m not interested in common human emotion, my respect lies with those who are always in control, who use that fury in a productive way while preserving their personal nature. Kindhearted “people” are many times broken in this world and they become hateful, frustrated and angry; they lose the very thing that makes them special. The way Rose presented herself in this interview is how she should have done it throughout the metoo movement; I’m confident she’d have had even more people on her side without the moments that made her look insane and lost in her anger.

    • @johnreed9050
      @johnreed9050 Před 5 lety

      What Are you smoking? The me too movement is all about removing men from power with nothing more than a mere allegation. It may have started out as a way to address legitimate cases of rape and assault. I have been the victim of a false allegation at my job for making comments to a female coworker. They automatically believed her without even investigating the facts. I was suspended without pay. Only when I lawyered up did they do any investigating. Turns out she admitted to making it up and that she never met me before.I knew it was all bullshit because we don't work on the same shift and they show up after our shift is done. She said she saw a name and went with it. This is by her own admission. I was also on vacation during the time she said this happened so I wasn't even in the building. The company didn't even allow me to give my side of the story until I got lawyers involved and suddenly they want to know what happened. I never got an apology from the company or the female who lied about me. The only thing I got was back pay for being off and lawyer fees. So as a victim of a false allegation please don't tell me that me too isn't about male bashing

    • @theonlyairconditioner
      @theonlyairconditioner Před 5 lety

      Look up metoo and find out for yourself what's really going on with metoo. It's more than just male bashing. It is also destroying men's careers so that women can take their careers without earning it, without working their way to the top. I've also been falsely accused by someone who worked in a different department than I did. I did know her but never hardly talked to her. She filed a false sexual harassment complaint against me. Despite the fact that they talked to me a couple of times about it, it still took a week and a half for me to get details about the complaint. She had claimed that I had been telling her about my sex life one night. I have an amazing fact tho, it will blow your mind: I would first have to have a sex life in order to tell anyone about my sex life. Luckily, all I got was a strict talking too more than likely because they knew she was lying because she filed the complaint the same day that my employee driving suspension was done, a 2 month suspension that I had because of that same woman filing a different false complaint, and I was just about to get my driving privileges reinstated. Because of her, I didn't get reinstated for another week tho and almost didn't at all according to the general manager. #wronglyaccussed

      @theonlyairconditioner Před 5 lety

      @@johnreed9050 I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you dude. According to rose, Alyssa and the rest of metoo: false allegations are extremely rare, but you and I know that's not true. Anyway, I was kinda thinking, in order to show how not rare it is, starting a hashtag for those who have been wrongly accused so I thought I'd mention it to you. When you tell your story of being wrongly accused, maybe use the #wronglyaccussed, whether on FB, Twitter, MySpace, CZcams and maybe even spread the word if you know others who have also been wrongly accused.

      The fucked up thing is they immediately suspended me before even investigating the facts. If they would have just investigated in the most basic way they would have saved themselves time and embarrassment. As always the female who lied never got any kind of punishment from the company.

    • @theonlyairconditioner
      @theonlyairconditioner Před 5 lety

      @@johnreed9050 that is fucked up. That also strikes the point home that the metoo movement and "rape culture" is wrong. Having money and a thriving career doesn't make someone "privelidged". However, being woman does because they can say what they want and no one questions it and there's no punishment for their life-destroying lies. You should have had your attorney go after her as well. After all, false allegations of sexual assault/harassment are actually sexual harassment as well, though I don't think many people think about that. But how many false accusations would be made if the ones who made false accusations were also charged with sexual harassment and treated like a sexual deviant like metoo is trying to do to every successful man they can? I'm not saying powerful because they aren't. They are successful, not powerful, men, who metoo is trying to destroy in order to create the illusion of a rape culture. I am glad that you at least got your job back with back pay.

I went through 1 year of Sexual harassments, bullying, harassments, retaliation and discrimination with my previous employer. I file complains with HR and they said they would investigate it, but nothing became of it. This was my full-time job and my only means of income, and I was injured on the job, so I was on W.S.I.B (workplace safety and insurance board) who was taking care of my Physio Therapy sessions....etc and on top of that I was dismiss from my job, because I couldn't work the way I use to anymore, so I was useless. Some may say, why didn't you get a Lawyer and fight your employer, it's easier said than done. Lawyers are hours in Canada, so I would have to pay $300+ for consultation + $300+ hours. In USA Lawyers are flexible and they work on contingencies, hours.....etc It's tough being a victim and it's tough going up against cooperations.

    Funnily enough I am embracing being real and authentic and I live in The UK, not being told what to do or how to be anymore from parents or a narcissistic boyfriend and I'm loving it. However, it's almost been like a dream like to move to America and get an acting job and become well known, I think it's most young girls dreams however a couple of months ago, I thought, I'm being real, I'm being authentic, yet I want to go to America and although my head was in the clouds about it but it would be, told how to be because like Rose said, you will get told how to be, what to do, how to have your hair dieting wise, etc and while initionaly they sound like good things it's going to keep you what they want you to be, so making movies, roles, books etc depends on them telling you what's what but like any other celebrity before they made it, they had to have gorgeous hair to get themselves noticed and then after all that and they become successful and they have their chopped off. I remember when Alyssa Milano did in in Charmed, and Kelly Cucco did it in Big Bang and the first time you see them for that first moment you almost gasp horrified, and men, men in my life have said that's put me off her, why the bloody hell would she want to do that? They don't like it. And I know it's down to the woman and what she wants who she is trying to be real etc but I know, personally, I've always dreamed of having long brunette hair in waves and curls and I'd love my hair like that, it would take some growing out and getting it styled etc and that to me, is looking amazing and when Kristen Stewart had it, when Nina had it on Vampire Diaries these were two very beautiful people with gorgeous hair, hair I'd love having and I know Nina hasn't gone bold just had a chop but sometimes I think to myself they couldn't have appreciated what they had. Somtimes I think it's good to be known as sexy, I have a husband yes, but if someone said she's his husband and she's smoking hot, now that's a compliment I'd love. I wouldn't like it if people said that she was overweight or not nice looking because I do believe that looks help you to achieve things. Would I sleep with someone to get a job? No!! But good looks tip the scales in your favour. I've found even in England, there is this hatred almost to women who are Obese and I know a few men when I was single that I had a better chance getting with them as apposed to these bigger women. I know it is Wrong, you shouldn't judge but when someone you like when you are single is giving you the come on as apposed to your friend (like Rachel and Monica in friends when Rachel, the slim and sexy one was put with Monica looking bigger) you get treated like you are more in a shot with things and as much as you wanna stick up for your friend dammit, it does feel good

    I love Rose McGowan and everything she talks about. This is one well-educated lady who more easily put into words a lot of my own thoughts. Society is so messed up that it put terrible standards in my head when I was so young that I now suffer from severe depression and anxiety, and I'm constantly riddled with fear of judgement from other people in society. I really wish more people were like her in the world. She makes me really glad to know that I'm not alone and shows a great way to combat it all while maintaining your own mind, thoughts and integrity. She could start a whole movement to better society as a whole but I fear for her personal safety. Great people who truly try to make a difference always end up disappearing because of it. History has taught me that. Which is why I'm not as great as her and I'm choosing to not take any risks and stay in my depressed, anxiety-riddled corner.

Joaquin Phoenix too... What F**king parent would do that to a kid? I did not realize this before... I guess I'm sorry for being so judgemental about Rose... Now it makes more sense... The haughty air I get from her, sometimes can be a defence against the painful subject matter, and possibly old residue of toxic shame that really belongs to her abusers. That defence can make her look as if a tad arrogant. So what she can cope with this time in her life as she needs,for sees fit. Maybe she doesn't recognise that but I see that it can be a little jarring to others. Also, everyone as she says is uncomfortable with this conversation at a deep level, for reasons of guilt from deviants to toxic shame, pain and trauma from the survivor's. She's right it's only by shinning a light on the darkness that humans can begin to clean up. 10% better she says, let's aim higher. But a good start indeed.

      pepper greenlaw - Why are you attacking me and trying to control what I say or what I choose to watch? I watch the Jeremy Vine show, and comment on CZcams when I feel like it. Why are you reading comments and bothering to reply? Just to leave attacking comments? Sad.
      I've worked in the entertainment industry for 10 years, and I actually quit 2 years ago, because I didn't feel the work was compatible with my morals and who I wanted to be. NEWSFLASH - the entertainment business is a swamp, like no body knows this, it always has been and always will be. It trades on ambitious teenagers who are willing to do ANYTHING for fame and fortune. It sells sex. Both male and female, it doesn't discriminate. I don't get how being stupid and naive enough to walk right into the teeth of the machine, get chewed up and spat out, then complaining about it many years later makes you great. I find more greatness in a person simply looking at the Hollywood machine and saying 'that's not for me'.

      Great what ? shes one of probably hundreds of actresses who reluctantly but willingly did sexual stuff to further their career , then when their career stagnates or when they are no longer in the limelight they use the most abused and easiest tool in a womans arsenal, sexual assault or rape accusations.
      Do you know why no abuse allegations ever come out about Joe the garbage collector ? because Joe aint famous and Joes got no money.

    I am going to try and define cult, as an organisation which uses power or manipulation to gain something from their followers themselves: be it money, sex, or attention (social status). They ostracise you if you don't follow its teachings or its leaders. She was in a cult, but she is also correct is showcasing that the normal world has cult like attributes, as do many families. Perhaps the difference is that in the normal world, you can swim about a bit and find a tribe which does not exploit you. In the real world, you a free to a more or less extent to reject the psychopathic leaders (Harvey Weinstein), however of course you have to make the sacrifice to your ambitions and goals. The price of living free, is the price of allowing others to be free, in giving up your , exploation nd giving up the explotation of others. You sacrifice your social status and materality. Most are not ready to do that.
