- Lakers Trade doesn't seem to be on the horizon at the moment and based on Lakers News might not happen at all. Lakers Nation does not want to run it back but is that worst case bad? Lakers will be better next year running it back if they have to.

Honestly if the Lakers are going to keep this squad, they should just trade for a defensive center. This team isn't bad as everyone makes them out to be! It's all about dlo, Reaves, and Gabe making an impact and being consistent.

Ppp hate to apply context. The Lakers were a 47 win team last year. We are repl our horrible coach, adding shooting with Roadhouse and Hinson, and Vando, Vincent, and Rui will be healthy. So running back a team that went to a WCF in 2023, w a now weaker Den, isn’t the worst idea.

The recency bias is insane. The only thing is either DLo or Reaves needs to be the 6th man you can't start them together because of defense

The rest of the west got better, we stand pat we slide down the standings compared to last year, we definitely are taking a step back because everyone is improving.
The roster is good but not nearly good enough. The league is loading up on 2-way wings and the LAL have basically none. The DLo Reeves backcourt isn't good enough. And LeBron and Rui H. are both exclusively PF.
They need to make moves and upgrade SG and SF spots.

This is still a good group , they were victim to really bad coaching , regular n post season and injuries , Vando and C Wood would have added length and rebounding and they still finished strong n had to face Denver ,whom I still thought they should have beat them

We were literally 2 buzzer beaters from Murray & about 6 - 8 missed free-throw on our end in games 2 & 5 away from being up 3-2 on Denver going into game 6. That's without Wood, Reddish, Vando & a 1 armed AD. If we could somehow flip D-Lo, Gabe, Reddish & a 1st to Brooklyn for Cam & Schroder im all for it. Let's go 🟣🟡🏆

No they shouldn’t run it back either reaves or dlo have to go and one goes to the bench you can’t run a lineup with 2 defensive liability guards because once they shot not falling they are just giving up points and not contributing to points being scored and for 30+ minutes. Lakers were the 7th seed, won 47 games while being incredibly inconsistent and injured. Healthy, with JJ and better consistency will be a very good team. Not a true contender but a very good team

The Timberwolves have made no significant moves to improve so they are relying on basically the same cast.
The Mavs lost a key defensive piece and are going for offense which almost never works out.
I really like Klay for them but no one can argue they got better.
The Nuggets have been losing key role players since winning the title. They didn't get better.

The Suns have done nothing significant unless you believe Monte Morris is a difference maker at pg, which he has never been in his career, despite being a very good point guard.
The Clippers lost Paul George and will rely on James Harden every night to be Kawhi's running mate...is that improving?

The Lakers have as good a chance as anyone because their core that won 47 games is fairly set.....if anything they might tick up towards 50-51 wins if JJ gets them to play more efficiently on the offensive end and impacts the role players production.

But so did 30 other teams. Denver lost the year before they won in the first round and ran it back and got a chip. Dallas/Minnesota basically everyone but Boston could argue a retooling or that they ran it back and didn't win. I absolutely think the Lakers need a trade but no trade is better than a bad trade

We're going to be better too. We'll have Gabe for the whole season, Vando will be back, Christy will be better, JJ will utilize Cam & Jaxson more wisely. Our starting 5 will just get better under JJ too.

The Reality Lakers won't do anything as long as Rob Pelinka is the GM
He's made trades in almost every year he's been in office
He also won a title his first season in charge 2019/2020.
The only thing that prevented a repeat was an AD injury in the postseason(2020/2021)
The next two seasons Bron and AD had serious injury issues and never played more than 4 consecutive games together until after the all star break in 2022/2023.
He was the gm that acquired the players late in 2022/2023 that propelled The Lakers into the WCF, his second as gm.
2023/2024 The Lakers played very well against all top competitors east and west, including destroying the younger Pelicans and Pacers in the IST and dominated the #1 seeded OKC Thunder.

The Lakers had a chance to win the series against The Nuggets both seasons.
Every game came down to the 4th qtr and the only one that didn't The Lakers won handily.
I didn't support his firings of Coach Vogel and Coach Ham but for whatever reason, he thought coaching could give The Lakers an edge since The Lakers are paying two players the great majority of the salary cap.
He clearly seems to be looking for someone that is better at coaching "the others" while holding the two stars more accountable or at least getting them to buy in to what the coach is trying to accomplish.
From what i can see, he does not involve himself in the coaching or schematics.
He assembles a roster and allows the coach to coach.
A gm is never going to be able to assemble the exact roster fans would love or prefer.
Let's see what happens in 2024/2025...
