I'm not sure if it was confirmed, but the Rune Wars, a lot of people are mentioning with the objects Ryze was collecting, is supposedly the reason Heimerdinger does not trust magic. If you recall the little flashback he had in arcane it did look like a similar scene as to what Ryze witnessed.
Also its so funny to me that you guys happened to start with THE END of the Ruination storyline. I'll do some homework for you guys. You said it would be easier if your viewers told you what order you should watch the cinemeatics so here you go. You can make a few different videos from this list. This should give you the full story of The Ruined King. Most of these are about 3 minutes long, some barely 1 minute.

I think what heimer was remembering was the Icathian War when the Void got created, Rune Wars happened a long time ago, i don't think heimer was alive back then. You can see on the show that the hexcore has a purple-ish colour like the Void.

@@gustavovila6434 time runs different in Bandle City though, so maybe he saw the Rune Wars, then went back to Bandle City, and time passed faster in Runeterra.
In regards to "The Call of Power"
The character you see is called Ryze. He is a powerful arcane mage who carved intricate runes on his body. In the past, he was apprenticed to a great mage during the Rune Wars several hundred years ago. They were hunting down the World Runes and preventing the misuse.
World Runes are essentially Nukes but 10x worse as each can cause catastrophic, world ending disasters depending on who wields it. What's more is that as you saw, each Rune has somewhat of a mind of its own or can tempt the wielder into using them for unimaginable power. His Mentor fell to the "call of power" from those stones, and basically committed what you saw in the video and he couldn't stop him before the catastrophe because of his naivety.
Ryze is on a mission to collect and hide the runes from those who can't resist the temptation. That forest you saw was actually a Petricide Forest, literal stones that have the power to absorb any and all magic that come into contact with it. The fact that Ryze is a mage and he's traversing the forest is a feat of its own because any normal mage would be drained the moment they step foot in a forest as large as that. Not only that, he was using magic within the forest which should've absorbed all the magic in whatever spell he casted.

The mentioned Rune Wars, is the war who made the world afraid of magic, Heimerdinger flashback memories got a glimpse of it.
Another "fun fact"... is that Ryze MAYBE is the mage that save Jayce in arcane ep 2 flashback.
I don't know when / where it's confirmed, but Petricide is not like a black hole that attracts and consumes magic from miles away. It's more like a sponge that stores magic it comes to contact with, and can also release it if its been oversaturated with magic, although that requires a metric ton of magical power.
A great example , altough not cannon IIRC is in the 2020 Warriors video. Sylas' shacles can absorb and store magic but that only happened after he touched Garen's sword (very close proximity). But you are right, travelling across and sucessfully using magic in close proximity / inside the petricite forest is a noteworthy feat.
Ryze is like a good Thanos:
A powerful, wise, fearsome purple guy that collects pretty coloured stones that could accidently wipe out the whole planet if they ever fall into the right (or in this case wrong) hands
@@Drachendaemon1 I believe in the lore Sylas gained his powers through learning how the Petricide works which is how he started his mage revolt.
Demacians assumed Petricide dispelled magic, only a few knew that it absorbed magic and has a cap, as shown by the creator of Galio, Duran.
Galio is a gargoyle golem powered by the magic that he absorbs so he comes to life when there's a mage attack on the capital. Reason why you see Lux firing a beam of magic in Warriors, she's not just summoning Galio but giving him the power to assist them.

if you like Annie ( the girl with the burning teddybear) I recommend for you to watch "Annie-Origins". Se is the daughter of a fire witch. It is actually perfect to watch this right after "A Twist of Fate" because you have just seen her abilities.
Absolution that is the last story of the ruination if you want to know how he became like that and what is the purpose.... Theres a full story of sentinel and ruination there 🥰🥰🥰

Like other comments said, you kind of watched the last part for a series of cinematics called ruination
it was an ingame event to sell skins and for that same reason it felt kind of odd for many players to see a some characters appearing and the one that matter didn't appear at all in the event.
If you want to learn more about the shadow isles, the black mist, the harrowing and the ruination, you can check these videos (you've seen some of them already, so you can skip those)
There are kind of 2 timelines, the canon storyline that is more focused on the shadow mist, and the event storyline that was more focused on the sentinels of light to sell those skins

If I remember correctly, that was all from the canon story line, but Riot made an Ingame event with the same storyline, but messed all up just to sell skins, so I don't think it is canon, but you can watch all that in this videos:

About Ryze in the call of power, he wasn't purple when he was younger, he has these runes marked on his body and also uses teleportation magic, so it was theorized he was the one who saved Jayce, but it seems that the years don't add up to the story. Also that city being burned was his disciple who got corrupted by one of the world runes (thats where Runeterra name comes from, it was created using these runes) those are the rune wars that Heimerdinger mentions on his flashbacks.
Some hints about the second video "Call of Power" and about Arcane. Did you remember the mage who help Jayce from the freeze? Well, he has blue skin and some people believe he was Ryze, the blue skin man of that video.
Well, did you remember the calamity that Heimerdinger is afraid of? It could be the same calamity that Ryze see in the video. A calamity caused by that runes, same runes that Jayce and Viktor uses in his experiments, hextech.
And the last, did you remember that the hexcore becomes in a live object when Viktor sacrifies the girl unintentionally? The purple one, with a conscience. That colour, in League of Legends is from an specific "region" or dimension, the Void. Like the other side in Stranger Things. Well the big monster with a big eye that attacks Ryze in the end of the video is from that "region", the Watchers. Maybe because of them Heimerdinger and Ryze are afraid of using runes.

The red-haired assassin of Noxus is called Katarina, she is fighting against the warrior of Demacia called Garen (Noxus would basically be like a Roma, invades several places, that is, it is everyone's enemy). A curious fact is that the two are secret lovers.
I think you should have started with early cinematics and watch them in release order. That way could see how graphics improved through time. Also some cinematics are connected in some ways and continue another's story.
In recent years the cinematics have been released in order; as each season has started a new story arc for that particular year. The music videos, cinematics, and champion videos are all kind of sprinkled within the timeline.. you've just watched that last video in the ruination arc. So a bit misplaced. Standalone videos that don't require much knowledge would probably be the legends of runeterra videos as while they contain lore, the videos themselves usually just emphasize and focus on one story or one location. They would probably be easier to stomach than the yearly season cinematics since you have little to no lore knowledge for each champion
Its crazy because any one of us who were put in Viegos position would all do the same as him to get the one they love back from the dead.
As far as League cinematics go, I will try to make a good overview for you guys here.

The giant tentacled thingy is a boss that can be found in the game - If a team can afford to abandon their positions for a moment, they can try to take him down for a major bonus... or get ganked by the other team just as they are about to finish him off.
10:00 - Those white vine looks are the roots of the giant petrifying trees where you seen at the first part of the video, the purpose of the petrifying tree is to absord magic powers and i don't know why Ryze can still his power out there wherein he's right next to the petrified trees, on the under the trees are the roots that maybe made by the ancestors to conceal or seal the runes or any powerful magic to avoid chaos...

Ryze is teleporting around the world to help "champions" that have to defend the world , theres a theory that he is the mage that saved Jayce in Arcane for the same reason
OMG, you guys started with the final part of the ruination saga. I don't know if you see all then by now, but is pretty cool.
That purple guy is Ryze, he was in Arcane episode 2. The one who saved Jayce and his mother by teleporting them, still on the same world just different location.
The Ruination cinematics and Akshan's storytelling videos are really amazing and explain everything about the event and the story behind the Ruined King. One of the best lores in League and involve so many good champions. I also recommend the Tales of Runeterra cinematics. They show us a little bit of every region of the world and a lot of champions.
Fun fact: in the cinematic a twist of fate we see ryze again. Now in the beginning he has black eyes. Clarification: he has been blinded by that shadow creature's(Name: Nocturne) "ultimate" later u will see ryze his eyes bee blue again. That's where the ult of nocturne has worn off

Not sure if it was changed but Ryze seem to have a very long story, first attempting to gather the stones/runes for his own sake. Now it seems that he is gathering them for safe keeping instead.
Another thing for you Arcane fans, the individual Viktor seems to be describing using magic to teleport him and his kin could very well be Ryze. This is solely based on that being his signature thing and kinda looking the part to.
the voice actor for ryze in the call to power is the same voice actor for goku
To link Ryze with Arcane, along with the people who already commented about Heimerdinger not trusting the power of runes/magic, and Ryze collecting them to control their power, it's heavily speculated that it was Ryze that saved Jayce and his mother in the show. Not 100% confirmed but it would make sense lore-wise and Ryze's ultimate ability in the game is a magic teleport similar to what Jayce and his mother are saved with.

The 1st video was the last of a story and the 2nd video you guys watched was one of the 1st part of the story, was an event on the game of League of Legends called “Sentinels” that has a whole story, if you guys want to understand that story has more videos about it and a sequence to watch too.
U can watch Annie origins (story about that little girl using fire) and The Curse of the Sad Mummy (Christian Linke one of the executive producers and designers of Arcane and produced this song). Both of them have sad stories.
I love Ryze. Him collecting the world runes and hiding them away is a nice plot line. I have the feeling though that hiding them all in the same place might lead to problems sooner or later... might be a cool event: Runewars 2.0. Add that to the growing list of potentially world ending threats in Runeterra. ^^
A lot of the cool lore can be found in the lore videos for Legends of Runeterra, one for each main region! You guys should watch those!
Basic TLDR for the Ryze cinematic:
Long ago Ryze had a student named Kegan Rodhe who was ridiculed for having magic in their blood and for his mother who was a witch or a shaman. Kegan was a promising student until the time came where was blinded by hate and all that sorts of nasty emotions and sought after one of the World Runes using the knowledge he got from Ryze then basically started the Rune wars. What you saw Kegan's handiwork.
And no Kegan isn't dead, he's just immortal and is on fire now, and probably insane.

Me i just watched netcrit yt channel he knows alot about of all the champions and specially the deep lore of each one, what makes him good is hes got some connections directly to the developer of the league of legends
Do you remember the story of Jayce and his mother? When they are in the middle of all that field of snow and ice and they are saved by a person who literally teleports them back to a safe place. That person who saved them was apparently Ryze. This is a power he has, to teleport over long distances, even within the game (which in this case is his Ultimate). You can notice by the runes that appear on his body and also appear on the ground, during the scene where Jayce is teleported.
That maybe could be Ryze (who is a human using the power of runes that are even written on his own body) before everything that goes on in this video that you watched. At the time he hadn't gone through all these challenges and hadn't changed because of magic.

Ryze's flashback is like Heimerdinger's flashback in Arcane.
Absolution was the last of the cinematics, you skipped the first one that is also high budget, there are cinematics that have actual order to follow.

I really hope that you’ll watch the Tales of Runeterra at some point, they can give you some more context to some of the Locations of Runeterra.
fun fact: Ryze (the blue guy with godmode ) might be in arcane upcoming season(s). Because he has been possibly teased in s1 if u are perceptive. rewatch the episode where we see a backstory about him and his mother being saved by a mysterious guy who "teleports " them to safety. let me know what u think about the mystery guy

You should really react to the comics and short stories on the official lore page. Really great stuff. "Where Icathia Once Stood" is one of my favourite short stories in general.
You should check for LOL cinematics in order videos and react to them. If you watch in order you will understand more of the lore and characters. Because some cinematics about Iona some about shadow isles some about shurima you should watch these in order to understand the that region of that world
purple man ryze is basically the worlds MC, the world runes can destroy the world so my boys on a solo mission to find all of them and hide them so they can never hurt the world again

It's funny that you said "it's you and me fighting" since there is a forbidden romance between Garen and Katarina.
oh, u guys shoudl watch them in the correct order. This way u have no chance to understand the background. Especialy Absolution, it is the last in a line of Cinematics and Events from a entire Season starting with the Ruination Cinematic. And Twist of Fate was the "first" big Cinematic Riot made years ago where they tried the first time to implicate the abilitys of the champions in the Video itself (The Spin with Garen cuts off Katarinas Swords and stuff).

sadly there is a order you guys can watch these cinematics, and understand the plot way better. The Absolution cinematic for example, there were alot more cinematics that follow up to it, with a story line.. fuck :D ( called sentinel cinematics)

And about ryze: he is a arcane mage ( the same magic of the crystals in the séries) who seeks for the overpowers runes used to create runeterra and hide from people because it is too dangerous. Heimer fears magic so much because he probably saw what these things can do before. He is veeery very old.
Fun fact: Ryze wasn't always Blue, and this teleportation power he has is the same that jayce uses to create the hexportals in arcane. People belive that ryze himself is the mage who saved jayce in the past.
Starting with absolution is like starting the MCU with Endgame... You can but you miss sooooo much Xd

Viego did nothing wrong. They rushed his story way too much. There should have been a whole Arcane show about it if you ask me. Instead we got a short event meant to sell skins rather than tell a good story.
They included characters that has nothing to do with his story and excluded ones that are important to it. It's all because they wanted to focus on Senna and Lucian for some ungodly reason when their whole story is about Thresh, not Viego. While Yorick and Maokai who are important to the story of the Shadow Isles were not included in the event because they're not popular enough to sell skins.
The community was pretty pissed about it so I hope they legit rewrite it for some future Arcane series, maybe after Arcane has branched out and involved stories from all around Runeterra, after we've gotten to know the characters involved they can pull off a sort of "End Game" thing where they all gather for a season dedicated to the Ruined King event. Because right now they hijacked the story of the Ruined King and just made it about Senna and Lucian. It's like that Obi-wan series, everyone thought it was gonna be about Obi-wan protecting Luke from Vader, but no, it's actually just about Leia and some random black inquisitor woman who constantly bests both Obi-wan and Darth Vader, because thats what the fans wanted to see, right? Obi-wan was reduced to a fool whos dumber than 6 year old Leia. Thats kinda like this event. Viego was butchered in favor of other characters being given the spotlight.
