A true timeless classic. As a child of the sixties Oz was -and still is -a mythical Avalon. Cherish Australia folks , you never know what you have until it is gone . God Bless Australia xx
This song was the favorite song of my late wife's father. He was Latvian, and although he usually wasn't fond of pop music he loved this song. The reason was that the melody is an old Russian folk song that he had known as a child in Latvia. He passed away in 1971, and my late wife in 2015. I have since remarried and moved from Australia to the Philippines, and now I introduce my Filipina wife to this wonderful song. It always reminds me that it's important to live in the moment. What a wonderful voice 😍 and nobody else today gets close.
You are so correct about her voice
Hello Fiona, How are you doing?
Not even Kylie!?!?! 🤣
Voice of an angel
Absolutely, i remember this wonderful Australian group when i was a boy,i was 11 years old when this was sung.
The nightingale's voice is gone into eternity..... we miss you R.I.P. Judith
This song's melancholy refrain has always been a tear jerker; even more so since I heard the news of Judith passing away yesterday. I am sixty years old and the Seekers (particularly Judith's Chrystal clear voice) form some of my earliest musical memories. RIP lovely lady. Your voice will live on.
Wounded and hospitalised, in December 1966 in Aden after being mortared, 18 year old Soldier who's mother back in the Uk was a nurse and widow heard by telegram I was seriously wounded, pledged this song on BFPO radio......I have loved it and Judith ever since!!! Now 71 and still do....
Watched Empire Warriors last night - about Aden the Argylls and Northumberland fusiliers - you guys were awesome best wishes R
Richard Gray thanks Richard, I was 3 Royal Anglian Regt who were in the hotspot of Sheik Othman and Mansura, look up the battle of the mosque
hope you've "wised " your teapots lids not to do what you did. ( the bastards will make up a war, somewhere )
You responded to my message re The Carnival is Over Wounded. In hospital back in 66. You must have had your poor mother in knots! . With VE day just having past I felt it only right to respond. They certainly don't churn out decent songs nowadays. Look after yourself during this mad pandemic. Chela.x
Richard Gray I am still in touch with Brian harrington Spier, to this day he is now 78 and still a fit old soldier who received an MBE for his performance in ADEN. Cheers.
She had such a great voice! Her music was part of my youth. May she rest in peace.💜🙏

Heavenly voice! RIP beautiful soul.
SHE WAS THE AURA OF AN ANGEL, FILLED WITH MUSIC AND BEAUTY.
I heard a request for this on late night radio from an old man because 'this cancer has just about got me '. Wow
I'll never listen to this song in the same way again. RIP old man. You requested the best.
+david wildgust .......Good luck, David. I might have this at mine too.

That's the spirit Davy lad. Fight the good fight
+david wildgust Stay strong my friend. I say a prayer for you for strength through your ordeal. God bless.
God bless my friend.
+david wildgust it ain't over 'till it's over David......hope you have years of listening to wonderful music......
Growing up with great songs like this was a real privilege!
Lovely song. A gracious age. So lovely to hear lyrics that are not vulgar and singers dressed decently not for shock value.
I want this at my funeral. It still makes me cry now.
So, so sad to hear of Judith’s passing. I love their music.
Such a humble awesome Aussie, with one of the best female voices ever.
+Pete Smith so right.....
Lucky enough to see the Seekers at Longleat House in the mid sixties and met them backstage after their performance. Such a friendly group of people. Judith Durham had a magnificent voice. A truly wonderful lady.
RIP Judith, best voice ever!
What a voice. Today's so called divas just can't compare. It's not the loudness but the quality.
Hippy(Bboomer)
Judith Durham
+Hippy(Bboomer) She is one classy lady and a genuine beauty
You got that right! I've never heard or read anything bad about her personal lifestyle in 50+ years! She's a beauty inside and out with a voice from another dimension.
Well said John
And she actually sings beautifully - unlike these fake constructed divas we hear today with their pre recorded trash.
Judy is petite, beautiful, sings like an angel.Old songs are the best, agree folks.
We heartily agree ♥️
🎙️🥰🇯🇲🏴🕊️🔥✝️
apparently she is not that small, all the guys are enormous
Where have you heard an angel sing before? They only sing to God and Jesus Christ in Heaven. They are perfect, we are not.
Agree
And very sadly it is. R.I.P Judith, the voice of the angel shall live on though for futures to hear. YOU will sing this at my funeral, so we shall have one more goodbye together xxx
Very beautiful, brought tears to my eyes hearing it today.
Rest in Peace, Judith.
Judith’s vocal just pierce my heart. Oh my, yes.
Rip Judith you're a brilliant singer I will miss your beautiful voice 😢
R.I.P. schön das es dich gab, deine Lieder bleiben unvergessen 🌹
Love this song I'm 67 now another small part of my life sadly gone but never forgotten rip Judith your music will live forever
R I P JUDITH YOU HAVE THE VOICE OF OF A ANGEL
Yes, another beautiful Seekers song - simple words again, make it so powerful. Like "I'll never find another you" I can hardly sing it without crying. Judith Durham's velvety voice will remain forever.
Bless sweet Judith...so graceful.
So sad she has left us.A beautiful voice that will stay with me until it is my turn.
No other sound can transport me back into the 1960s as do the Seekers. Judith Durham with her incredible voice together with great backing play and rhythm. Life seemed simpler then, and days full of happiness.
We said goodbye to my mother eight years ago to this song. What had special meaning then has even more meaning now. RIP Judith.
Thank you Judith for all your beautiful music the carnival may be over but in our hearts you and your music will live on RIP Judith and thank you and may our lord keep you in is safe hands 💞
I want this playing at my funeral.
This was played this weekend just gone at my grandmother's funeral. It's so sad!
Mandy Moo it is sad, very moving infact
Im having this at mine, along with Dusty, Going Back, and Andrea Bochelli Time to say Goodbye
Must be in our name for i was just listening to this song and thought this is the song for my funeral, sort of sums up life on earth:)
what is it with you lot and funerals. just enjoy the song
Wow. I had to live my whole life to be old enough to appreciate this.
never meant nowt to me as a younger person, now at 51 I find it captivating!!
+Sigrid Haldirsson My experience is different. This and a few other Seekers songs are among the first pieces of music I can remember hearing. They've kept me company on and off for half a century now.
ah, if only all youth was like you
+Sigrid Haldirsson music has no ' use by ' date Sigrid......!....
Tell that to Paganini!
What a beautiful song and voice. There’s no musicianship like this group anymore.
Time moves on, but we can love every moment of time.
