They literally heard people compalining about chief not wearing his helmet and went "Fuck you nobody gets armor now."

Edit: If it were a show about marines or ODSTs then it would be forgivable but they chose to follow, not only Spartans, but THE spartan and opted to forget the armor. It’s so bizarre

This aggravates me the most about Pablo's complaints about the suit. Like dude, you CHOSE to embody the Master Chief. The Chief is not like any other Spartan in the series. He ALWAYS wears the suit, and RARELY takes off his helmet, even at the cost of personability. It is his second SKIN. If he didn't think he was up to the task of "conveying emotions" in this manner, then he should have bowed out respectfully or sought a more suitable role... 😒

The books say that he was uncomfortable without his armor but he frequently took it off in the books bc he's human. I'm pretty sure he beat up and killed a couple of odst's out of armor in a gym bc they were jealous. And reach the video game also contradicted the reach novel and bungie explains it as the rule of cool. All the Spartans die and now we are seeing the oni side of things

Exactly. The covenant environments with Candy Purple and glowy lights everywhere is nowhere to be found !!! It looks like a flood infested Covenant ship... without the flood lol
That's the only complaint (the lack of a purple colour interior) but otherwise, the costumes, ships and the design of the Covenant are on par with the videogames.

I’m lost as to how Perez is suddenly a Spartan 3. It was two episodes ago that she was fleeing from Reach as a regular Marine. The 3’s were recruited as kids in the lore. It’s as if they blended Spartan 3’s and 4’s in this version.
And they were orphans picked up off the streets too
She was a shitty regular marine too. Even if this was a blend of the 4's, they should have recruited the best of the ODST's and other combat groups. This just comes down to shitty writing lol. Wouldn't be surprised if there plan is to make an additional love triangle with her and Cheeks since she's a Spartan now.

@@furious_melons674 I believe all Spartan 2s were taken from families and replaced by flash clones. Spartan 3s were all orphans from the outer colonies. Both Spartan 2s and 3s were raised from the age of 5/6. Spartan 4s were recruited from the UNSC.

It physically hurts my soul to know that this is the halo show we got instead of what could have been. The halo ip cannot catch a break.
In Hindsight tho it made me appreciate forward unto dawn a lot more than I ever did.
One big problem all these halo shows seem to suffer from is a bad budget. I think it’s we they can’t even show vehicle vessels, any action scenes, even the simulation had no enemies.

Eh, for a franchise that's been around since 2001 we have it pretty damn good. At least we're getting decent to good material from games, books and even this show is pretty good at times. It could be a lot worse.
Are we not talking about the fact that Reach fell off screen after just one episode
And the fact the story is focusing on Spartan/Oni infighting instead of the horror of the fall of Reach and the impact it should have on those who remain. So disappointing.
Well the novel of the same name does have reach kind of fall off screen too.

@@bconroy328Oh please. By the time reach fell the first two Spartan 3 companies were grown adults. Noble team are mostly 3s from alpha and beta company and they were in their twenties.
And even if this is an alternate timeline where these are the first batch of 3s newly created, they could just have the 3s already done with training and augmented with Kai not training them but commanding them instead with them at the age of like 18. Since they're apparently going to be used in an offensive against the covenant fleet instead of suicide missions just make it that their training regimen was even longer. Boom I just wrote the Spartan 3s in the show better than these writers.
Why tf did the show make the 3s, Spartan 4s? It makes no sense. Reach fell and the covenants about to find earth there's no fucking time to train and augment the 3s to be able to do much.
@@bconroy328if they think the audiences/critics can’t handle it, then all of this HUGE focus on “UNSC/ONI bad” shouldn’t have been at the forefront of the series.
They could have very easily done the series and barely glossed over the whole child abduction thing and basically skipped Spartan 3’s if they were going to be so scared to actually show this stuff.

Like we KNOW they’re doing bad stuff, but there are bigger things going on, so we just hold it in our gut that ONI shouldn’t be trusted, and that bad things happened to make the Spartan program what it is. That nuance gives it some intrigue, mystery, and danger as well.
In the show, it’s the front and center main plot point, brought up in almost every episode. I kind of forget that the Covenant want to wipe out all of humanity because I’m so fixated on John’s bad childhood.
I don't understand why they chose to add this supernatural aspect into the series.

The only thing supernatural in Halo is Master Chief's luck. It's fucking scary how lucky he is, always finding what he needs whenever he needs it to keep himself alive. Even surviving a MANUALLY ACTIVATED NUKE point fucking blank. I respect his luck for how mysterious and supernatural it is. But that's it.

Its not supernatural mysticism it's just forerunner fuckery disguised as such. What these shamans and Kwan have is a geas that's making them hallucinate while basically following genetic instructions. Basically they're being mind controlled by monitors most likely.

tbf credit where it's due the SPI in the show looks really good, the props/armour designs are one of its few strong suits

Just seeing Dune part 2 this past weekend makes me wonder if we will ever get a Faithful adaptation to Halo.
Pretty sure modern Dune is a modern adaptation of the book the 1984 version is much more faithful
I think the show is actually doing really well. If it gets enough support, I’m sure we could probably see live action films with a more accurate adaptation

In this universe, Arbiter is just some weird little sidekick minion for Makee. Arbiter giving himself the mark is pretty lame honestly. Defeats the impact of him being labeled as such by the Prophets and their plans for the elites. Defeats the toll of being dishonored and tortured in front of all of High Charity. And then he immediately betrays the covenant in the same episode for makee… It baffles me how badly they screw up every plot point they borrow and bastardize. To quote Regret, “Of all the objects our lords left behind, there are none so worthless as these [screenwriters]! They know nothing of the Great Journey!”
Someone received an icepick lobotomy, played the Halo games with their eyes closed, described what they thought was the story to a partially deaf person, and the partially deaf person had someone with Parkinson's write the story down and that's how we got the TV show.

Did anyone else notice that in the simulation, they didn’t show any Covenant?
Like damn, first we get Spartan 2’s without armor, and now we get Covenant ships without Covenant.
I was actually coming here to draw attention to this. A majority of the "fights" this season is them pretending to fire their guns (I understand the irony of it being a TV show, but they aren't even using dummy rounds) and CGI muzzle flair is added in post. You can count using both hands per episode when characters move the gun like they are transitioning from target to target, resting the weapon on cover and the barrel is pointed in the air, or even the actors scanning the "horizon" for new threats, and the FX guys just tack it on because they clearly have no clue they are not and would not be firing at those times. It is super cheesy and distracting, and then to top it all off... there is just enemy fire and never really any enemies firing back a majority of the time. AND FFS, lets not even get started on the lack of decent sound effects that were literally handed to you on a silver platter and you refuse to use them....

I wonder where they got the idea for "The Blessed ones" it looks like someone watched a compilation of some random cinematics, heard the Librarian talk about MC being the culmination of millennia of planning and without looking for any context went "YEP that's it then, I already know how it works"
What’s weird is that Librarian never calls Chief a Blessed One and it seems to be a term invented by Silver Timeline Covenant.
In the regular lore, this was something called a Geas by the Forerunners so this is their inspiration.
@@ryancameron4170 Geas were used to guide individuals on certain paths, right? I don't remember them being keys to using Forerunner technology.
When I saw the series it seemed like a mixture of Geas, the Domain (in books it made strange things happen but usually only with people IN or connected to it) and some form of space magic.
@@FlavioSantos-uw1mr Yes to guide individuals subconsciously towards a certain path, they gave an innate knowledge on how to use things like forerunner technology. We see this when Chief knew what to do to activate a Forerunner light bridge the first time he encounters their tech. All of humanity has this familiarity. I went back to read some stuff and it's news to me that not all of humanity are considered Reclaimers, which would mean some wouldn't be able to actually activate some Forerunner tech. Some aspects of these geas are also hidden and only activated after the right trigger, like the Librarian granting Chief immunity to composers among other stuff (although I question now if 343 dropped this plotline). With the show, the Kwan visions with that mystic are the most out of place thing I think.
He's like, you know, this shit sandwich that tastes like a fresh hot diaper actually has some good bits in it. Then, he continues chewing.
Honestly, I love optimism but there are some things you just shouldn't force yourself to try finding the silver lining on. especially not a shit sandwich...
And I'm grateful for that because I ain't watching this fuckin show any further sin 2 episodes. I'm just hear to be baffled by the show makers and hoping they go down in Hollywood forever and ever and ever

Akerson took out the extraction part of the sim.. quite an obvious hint that he doesn’t care or expect them to extract from their mission. Plus a lot more subtle hints throughout the ep.
My blood sugar level is more consistent than the quality of this show.
i just read ghosts of onyx. kurt deserves better. i want a whole spartan 3 program movie. kurts story is seriously one of my favorite, he might be my favorite spartan.
So first we had Spartan-IIs that act like Spartan-IVs, and now we've got Spartan-IIIs that are just glorified ODSTs. Can't wait to see where they go from here.

Fun fact: if you look closely in the covenant corvet boarding scenes most of the spartans are brandishing the Commando rifle from halo infinite which adds further to the idea that the show is including aspects from all the games including infinite.

The Spartans IIIs seem to be less super soldiers and more like very elite drop troops.
None of the recruits had any signs of augmentations.

My first thought about the colorless interior was that nobody boarded a Covenant ship before, so the UNSC does not know how to recreate a correct interior for these simulations. They never seen a Covenant ship from the inside and don't know what it looks like. But then I saw the Makee scenes and the same colorless design, so...meh😢😢😢

they weren't even Spartans, they were normal Marines in SPI armour pretending to be Spartan III's, no augmentations, no children, they properly pissed all over what Spartan III's were and went through, the fact the III's were all kids yet would have been on par with Spartan II's had they reached adulthood, as seen with Noble Team.

I was surprisingly hooked this episode... I guess you just have to forget that it's actually Halo and just think it's just a sci-fi show
I was talking to my brother and I was like if this was just a normal sci fi show it would be okay with the clandestine organization fucking over the main character and he comes back for revenge and such but then I always remember it's halo and I hate how the covenant are this like back story.
We just gotta compile the rare moments where the show feels like halo and it could probably fit a CZcams short
The sad thing is that if the show was bad but Chief kept his helmet on, people could cut together and dub scenes from the show and make a semi-decent movie. As is, even that can't be done.
What a shame they wrote Kurt out, when they introduced Ackerson i was hoping that it would show him recruiting a younger Kurt to train the S3's plus the history between losing his Spartans and then making Gamma company with their illegal mods. Then having onyx break apart and having Kurt take an entire Covenant armada with him in which I would say is the best death a Spartan can have all to put that in the hands of Paramount and know theyre going to destroy that story as well.
Every time I see the interior Covenant ship in this show it just reminds me of a Geth ship

Alright I’m gonna play super mega devils advocate here in a very negative environment and make almost everyone here mad: Makee makes sense. Not only does she makes sense in the Silver Timeline, she makes sense in the Platinum Timeline. (The canon game timeline and associated media) actually try and think about it. In the games, whenever the Covenant needs to activate anything that’s Forerunner Technology, they need to go on a wild goose chase and find a human to activate it. This happens in Halo Wars, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo Infinite with the Banished. The Prophets know Humanity are reclaimers. Grabbing one Human Orphan and grooming them into the Great Journey would be an excellent choice. All the Prophets would need to do is keep them secret and safe. Even the Prophets in the Silver Timeline have said Makee is just a means to an and, and as we have seen here this episode, the second Makee stops waking up Forerunner stuff, the Elites try to kill her… and if the Covenant should succeed in killing all other Humans..they would be the ONLY force in the galaxy that can activate Forerunner technology. It makes sense to me. Change my mind.

It makes sense from that perspective sure but then makee is known to the covenant. Wouldn't they question how humans are this species that needs to be eradicated but apparently one of them is not only allowed in the covenant but is apparently blessed?

My interruption of the Arbiter Mark of Shame scene was that he must periodically re-scar himself as punishment for whatever transgression that caused him to become Arbiter in the first place. The original scarring could still have been conducted a la the ceremony from the beginning of Halo 2.

After watching the last airbender live action show on netflix and comparing it to the halo show so far, it's just so strange. At least in the avatar show you could tell the source material was used and it made sense with a lot of the plotlines, but with the halo show it's just so random. The spartans don't act like spartans, ONI is all over the place, and the covenant is just scary space aliens at this point.

I disagree. Halo 5 wasn't the greatest, but it at least makes sense for Chief to find Cortana to try and save her. Nothing really makes sense in this TV show 😆.

Spartan III were recruited from orphans of the war from what I remember. So I don’t understand how Perez just jumped in the middle of training a few weeks/moths after Reach and is at the same level as Spartans that have been training most of their lives.

Honestly it just felt like the show creators were raising one fat middle finger to everyone complaining about the spartans not wearing their helmets by making them just not be in armor and then just have scenes of spartan wearing armor as a passively aggressive "back to our regularly scheduled programming"
for how annoying all of you are, I actually, actively hope that this is exactly what is going on. They know already that they can't please you short of just showing cut screens from the game so they are like screw it and raise one fat middle finger to everyone complaining about the spartans, and laughing their asses off because the vast majority of viewers really like this series and consistently have been giving this season good ratings.

I swear Chief has fought against the UNSC more than he’s fought the Covenant throughout this whole show. Pretty baffling when you think about it.
I've studied the few forums about sangheili biology and one thing I just can't seem to get is their plasma. Not weapon plasma-internal plasma. Humans have monometallic red blood cells meaning YELLOW PLASMA while according to one site says sangheili has bimetallic cobalt iron which is strange considering those are conflicting pigments, but I suppose that explains the purple blood in the elites. That's what bimetallic means, I get it now. Now-how does one conclude the color of plasma from an iron+cobalt blood mixture?... VIOLET! It must be violet. Elites are primarily on the cobalt side, closer to blue. Human plasma brightens to green and yellow right? Indigo blood must translate to violet, maybe pink, but not usually purple. Purple is very red which elites typically aren't.

Last weeks episode was one of the best episodes for me. That scene at High Charity with Makee and the Arbiter. The dialogue and the acting was amazing. You could see the fear in Makee's eyes at the mere thought of facing the hierarchs with a failed mission. She stood firm that they are liars and told the Arbiter the truth. Then Cortana saved her. Also about Cortana, the way they subtlety showed her power when she suddenly started speaking Sangheili back to Makee was just awesome. It means she either learned to understand and speak their language almost instantly. Or she was already digging through covenant data and learned their language that way. Either way it shows off her power in such a subtle way that I feel like not a lot of people caught it.

I find it so funny when vanak got supercombined from 1 needle with no armor on, and in this episode we see a Spartan III in armor and still gets supercombined by 1 needle so the armor barley protects them apparently 😂

The SMG that is used is the B&T APC 9. The new SMG adopted by the US SOCOM and multiple SF groups in Europe. Cool gun that I bought last year.
To answer your question about the SMG shown with the UNSC guys:
It's a slightly modified B+T APC-9. They gave it some kind of custom handguard. Mind boggling to me that they chose it since there's no way making a prop could be more expensive than a B+T product. Those guns are like over 2000 USD.
Meanwhile they could have just brought a foam Battle rifle off ebay for like 100 bucks or less....
