    IMO the criticism of influencer husbands is the same criticisms that people have towards stay-at-home wives and mothers. There's an assumption that because they are not face or their name isnt on the checks/pay checks that they "leeching" of the spouses and not doing any "real" work. Meanwhile, so much of that support work is essential to allow the spouse the space and ability to focus and thrive in their careers. I think this is based off of assuming that the only work that has ACTUAL value is the work that directly brings in money or the work we see and can make sense of right in front of our faces (as opposed to the behind the scenes work)

      That's what I'm saying. Black women more often than not date "supportive" men. Especially the ones at the top of their game. It seems like all we see are black women in these relationships as bread winner, lead of house, etc which is why the push for black women, specifically dsbw in more supportive roles is even a thing. I know I'm not the only black girl that grew up watching the women do everything while the guys just shuffled around and played support but still got "Kang" treatment and but that I just mean respect for their support or treated like temporarily embarrased bread winner knights who would one day awaken. And as a woman who dates "supportive" men, my biggest issue with them is the passive aggression. I just can't with a man that can throw sneak diss after sneak diss but can't have a Conversation. They tirelessly revert to passive aggression. And I can't with passive aggression in an intimate partner. I've never not dated the educated "lame", "supportive", more chill guy. And honestly, I'm beginning to question my habits... maybe I just need to change the type of "supportive" guy I date. Idk. But this looks like fake news lol

    It does seem that prominent women (over) praise their husbands publicly in a way that men don't feel the need to do with their wives. I guess it's to build the husband's ego for playing a more "feminine" role in the relationship/partnership.
    The criticism seems unwarranted, but I think it's motivated by fear that the husband may be a "free rider" on one hand or may get jealous and have an affair/file for divorce on the other.

      @oluchi85 Před rokem +13

      I had the same thoughts on this. Women in positions of prominence carry the burden of having to acknowledge their partners' contributions to their success as if it's this otherworldly sacrifice. It also serves to soften or humanize their image, because people are still largely uncomfortable with women achieving success by their own merits. Men in the same position don't shoulder such expectatiins because unpaid labor is part of the deal and supposedly the reward itself.

    Facts Kim! Folks always have something to say about things they know nothing about. Social media is a bag. If someone’s partner is their photographer, editor, whatever, that’s a valuable $$$ skill - like you said. And it’s not just a skill that they get to only use to help their influencer partners…they can also use the skills to get a bag $$$ for themselves. Thinking about Court Williams and her husband Brian. She’s the influencer, and he’s the photographer for her and for other people. It makes sense. It works. Everyone gets paid. Everyone wins. I had no clue people were in their feelings about this…

    Hmmm, disagree, disagree, disagree. We all want supportive partners no matter what. That's a given requirement but support while having your shit going on. The reality is far from the social media likes and posts. Most women dont want a man who's laying under them 24/7 in the bedroom, in business, in making money, moves, decisions etc. That shit will turn the woman masculine real quick and its hard to respect a man without a backbone. It gets old and suffocating. Down the road, men become disgruntled then they start talking about feeling emasculated by their women...well, unless you married a very feminine man and you're ok with that then that's different. Support your successful wife, invest in her. Take a few pics sometimes, let her bounce her ideas off you, look out for her and protect her but have your own goals and purpose as man. Well, if your careers intertwin and mesh, you can still find a way to work together without being her background back up dancer or lapdog. Maybe im different but hey, to each their own.

      Its so bad now that in these social media relationships, the woman makes all the money, pays for everything even moves the husband into her home while he just does dishes, cleans the house and does laundry 😑. He becomes some sort of errands boy who waits around for his wife to give him directions and an allowance! The husband may not make as much as his wife and its okay but he needs to have his own shit going on where he can wear his pants and lead in that. Smh but again, to each their own but be careful what you wish for

    It's not just a "supportive" spouse that's important, but a spouse/partner who recognizes the earning potential and becomes part of the business. That's why many of these CZcamsrs who've done this, like Noorie Ana and the ones you've mentioned, are earning more than $ 1 million a year. The partners put their brains before their egos.
    There have been other successful CZcamsrs who've actually broken up, even divorced, after becoming successful.

    I also wonder if there’s something racial around this or are folks critiquing all women who do this. I also think about Hallese and Maya, also two Black women who are center stage, but their husbands help a lot.

    i mean, we have SO many (_TOO_ many) examples of a bad spouse derailing their partner's career, so it stands to reason having a supportive, loving, caring, and empathetic spouse willing to lend a real hand (none of this weaponized incompetence BS) is always an asset? how's this a controversial take?? sounds pretty reasonable to me.
