  • What's up, people! I'm back with another Roxette reaction from their 1994 album Crash! Boom! Bang!, and this time we listen to the delightful "Vulnerable," a song featuring Per on lead and sweet lyrics with emotional wisdom. So join me as we return to Roxette (a bit overdue, sorry!). Cheers!

    I hope the future ones start coming out quickly! They have so many amazing songs still to come, all the way through the final album.

    Per's best solos: this and Cinnamon Street.

    When you said that it was nice to also hear Marie, I looked at your wall and suddenly saw Miss Effe looking over your shoulder as if she was saying: "Yep, I´m also in this one".

    Single no 5, this sadly failed to chart in the uk, but fared well in other countries. I love the video, filmed in Australia 🇦🇺 and sadly never been performed live

    Love this song so much. According to Per; "I wrote this song in 1990, just a little bit too late for it to be considered for the Joyride LP: It was kept in the drawer until we made Crash! Boom! Bang! in 1993. A nice song."
    Thanks Matt for this reaction... waiting for more! Hugs!

    This along with "Whats she like" and "i'm Sorry" both still to come are my favourites on this album, thanks for the reaction and look forward to the " soon" coming next one, loving the roxette reactions 😊

    Per is the whistler, Marie despite her great vocal breath control once joked when it came to wind instruments eg whistling, harmonica, flute etc she was not good . One of my favourite Per main vocal tracks and I like how Marie is able to channel her back up singing early days to just give enough to get Per to elevate himself but not enough to steal the light. Next song was recorded on Capri and as such is little mystical to my mind.

      I always felt like some songs Per is too deep in trying to recreate the 60's or 70's. I like the melody of the next one, and the instrumentation, but the lyrics are an LSD-dream unless there is some joke or reference I'm missing. Or maybe it just describes an actual child playing with her imagination.
      Anyway, some songs like this and almost whole of Son Of A Plumber give me the weirdo-era Beatles vibes, nonsense without any real emotion. Unless one is high perhaps. I mean, what is I Am The Walrus? What's the point!

    I always liked this one. It was written a little too late for Joyride, somehow wasn't right for Tourism but found a home on this record.

    Cheesy, lovely and a very intimate Per song. The video is just so beautiful and we need to take a moment to just mention how immensly sexy Per is in the video 😁 His voice is mesmerizing.
    Maries work in the background is perfect and fits the song perfectly. He is singing about his loved one who is no longer physically there, but yet she is always present in his mind, in everything he does.

    A rare ballad for Roxette, to have Per leading it. Makes sense lyrics wise though, at least if one goes back a few decades and thinks how roles traditionally would be.
    I always liked it, although at times I prefer a bit les grandiose instrumentation. It does fit the album though.

    For me the lyrics makes this song work. I always skip this song because I don't think Per should be allowed to sing ballads - his voice has no emotion and he is not that a talented singer for these kinds of songs. I like it more when he sings the faster songs. This song still has some beautiful lyrics. Strange to think this song stayed in the European charts for 21 weeks. Good for Per.

    • @BadMoonandStars
      @BadMoonandStars Před 7 měsíci +4

      Aww, I think you're being too hard on Per! I've always loved his voice, and he's sung some wonderful low tempo songs and ballads. I think Per's vocals get more criticism than they deserve, at least in the context of Roxette, because he's always going to be compared to Marie. And, of course, everyone's a loser against her!

    • @gebus5633
      @gebus5633 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@BadMoonandStars Don't start with that one, it gets really ugly really fast. There is no way to like Per, or prefer Per over Marie, in his world. Even Per would agree that Marie was the superior singer, but that doesn't matter, he should be trashed if someone likes him! There is only one true way to listen to Roxette, and it is his.
      I had a similar exchange with him on a different reaction channel, where a father-son duo was commenting on a Roxette song, and the son said he likes Per's voice more... That just can't be!
      Some people are very fixed in their own little worlds.

    • @BadMoonandStars
      @BadMoonandStars Před 7 měsíci +2

      @gebus5633 hi, yeah I know, their comments are always very one-sided, but I still wanted to stick up for Per! And I know the reaction you are talking about! It was a Room Service song I think. Real Sugar? Anyway, I think I got a little tetchy over the son's comment as well though! 🤭

    • @gebus5633
      @gebus5633 Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@BadMoonandStars For me it's just baffling. I love both Per and Marie. I see weaknesses and strengths in both.
      And ultimately, if they had not found each other and created Roxette, I might not even have ever discovered either one of them. It's not really either or, it's both. I might know Sommartider, it was big here in Finland too, but other than that it's unlikely any of us foreigners form Swedish point of view would have even heard of Marie!
      And even then, preferences are individual. There is no right way to do things, just enjoy the music and let others enjoy it their way, live and let live!
      I remember a person from my past who just could not stand the sound of women singing. I have no idea why, but he was just built that way. Peculiar, but it is what it is.

    • @BadMoonandStars
      @BadMoonandStars Před 7 měsíci

      @gebus5633 yes, I completely agree with you. I love them both too.
      I don't understand it either. 🤷‍♀️
      Also, just wanted to add, the issue I had with the son's comment was him describing Marie's voice as 'weak'! The cheek! 😂
