Let's build a Cyberpunk Book Nook! Part 1 of 4
A little frustrated about not being able to play Cyberpunk 2077 without it self-destructing, so I made a Cyberpunk book nook instead :D

[Video starts with cardboard offcut buildings]
"Yes, I will try this!"
[Video proceeds to highly detailed styrene buildings with LED and fiber optic lights]
"I spoke too soon..."
Fantastic build, incredible detail! Will proceed to the next part now
I'm glad you're enjoying it :D
I want to see this guy as a medieval knight in some movie. "Oh, look at this neat sword; where's it going to go? Hmm? Somewhere interesting" *stabs foe
'Tis but a scratch! :D
@@MogsWorkshop a man of culture as well I see.
This guy got me spitting drink out my nose with laughter 😂
Oh my god this is amazing. There is NO NEED for this narration style and it’s just the best. I’ve been having a terrible couple days, watching CZcams out if utter frustration and I’m cry laughing and back in love with life. Lmao thank you for this you silly silly man
Hello 🙂 Thank you very much! I'm glad you are feeling more jolly. I think the world is full of joyful silliness, you just need to find it (some of it is a bit shy and hides under pillows and plant pots) 🎩
This is THE most amusing build video I have ever heard. Not only is it informative and fun to watch the project progress but the narrator had me smiling through the ENTIRE video. This thing sounds like a nature documentary and I love it so much!!!
Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed it :D
p.s. Your art is great!
@@MogsWorkshop I certainly did! Oh! Thank you!
I am obsessed with his commentary. I love it. And I absolutely adore this book nook. He almost makes me think I could do that!!😅😅
Thanks! I bet you could, and if you do, please show me!
Love it! Plus it sounds like watching a tutorial narrated by David Mitchell lol
Aha! That's fun, thank you :D
I was thinking a very excited, young john hurt personally lol. Either way very cool.
Oh my gosh, he does sound a bit like David Mitchell, if he were on far too much caffeine!
The voiceover and content, both, made watching this very entertaining. I'm enjoying it all.
Thank you! 🎩
"Rather jolly" is my new favorite phrase--love your voice and your work, fantastic stuff!!
I'm really glad you like it. Lots more fun things to come 🙂🎩
Your 3 part tutorial on this book nook has quickly become my ultimate favourite. You've inspired me, you've blown my mind, you've expanded my understanding of what is possible in this medium, and you've made me laugh many times. I absolutely can't wait to see what else you're going to be making.
Goodness, that's extremely nice of you. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos, many more to come! 🎩
Bravo on spending so much time on the casing and details.
Ah I LOVE the narration so much! It brings such joy to my heart. Somehow in my mind you're a dwarf master, puttering around your workshop and creating miracles out of nothing
I am quite short 🤪🎩
Nice work. Can't wait for the next 3 parts! 👍🏻
Thank you. All 4 parts are up now :)
It’s like David Attenborough began narrating tabletop crafting.
Jolly good stuff! Thanks for including the fails at beginning.
Thank you! If you want to make things, you've certainly got to get used to ruining a lot of things first 🙂🎩
Very cool!! Loved the commentary !
I'm so glad you liked it. Thank you! :D
I came here because of the booknook, stayed for the commentary.
Also, I wanted to offer some help! There's a machinist tool called an automatic center punch that might make those window holes much quicker. My one concern is that it might be too big.
Another is the use of Culture Hustle's Black 3.0 for the sky. Its almost as black as Vantablack but its affordable and far less toxic while still absorbing most of the light.
Regardless, you now have yourself a subscriber and I look forward to seeing the rest of your creations!
Hello. Thank you for your kind words :)
Ah! I so wish I'd had a centre punch. What a dream that would have been. My tiny drill was a right pickle sometimes.
Thank you very much for the paint tip. I will definitely get some of that good stuff. It's worth noting that without any filming lighting on, it is much darker and more atmospheric inside the nook. Also, and rather oddly, the nook is much smaller in real life. It looks way bigger on screen. That surprised me! :D
Absolutely incredible !
Glad you like it 🙂🎩
Count Binface does arts & crafts? Love it!!!
You have the best voice ever! I'd love to hear you dramatically narrate a fantasy or mystery novel lol
Ah, how nice, thank you 💫 That would be fun 🙂🎩
This is amazing. I rewatch the videos to see all the details you put in. Nice job!
Thank you so much! 🙂🎩
oh my gosh I think this is the best cyberpunk miniature I've ever seen!! The way the LEDs are set up are so genius!!!
Thank you so much! 🙂🎩
i love the audio when you talk - legit the best so much fun to listen to
That made me feel sparkly, thank you! 🙂🎩
This is therapeutic. Also you should put out some audio book readings brother. I’d buy them. I could listen to your English all day.
That's very nice of you 🙂 Coincidentally I'm writing a novel at the moment, maybe I'll read some of it on this channel one day 🎩
@@MogsWorkshop Lookin’ forward to it.
Brilliant!
OMG! I just found this and it's jolly brilliant!
Thank you muchly 🙂🎩
It already looks wonderful. Clever b’stard. 😂
Amazing work and the humor is just fantastic lol
Thanking you muchly 🙂🎩
Awesome accent and insane skill. This guys criminally underrated.
Love the work bro
Thank you! 🙂🎩
Spotted the Lovecraft collection in your thumbnail. I have that book, too! Didn't they do a beautiful job on the cover? And the endpapers...whoever did them knows Lovecraft well!
It's a lovely edition 💫
Your narration style is so entertaining and exquisite
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it 🙂🎩
fav video
Thank you! 🙂🎩
Your voice, and sarcasm, remind me of Voltaire’s Ghost, from his channel....but, building stuff! lol. 😂
Just came from reddit and am loving this whole channel!!
Hello and welcome! I'm really glad you like it 🙂🎩
This is amazing!
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying it 🙂🎩
I just came here from Reddit, and got to say, you are not at all what I expected.
I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t an awesome proper mid evil college professor with little jokes.
I loved the whole video! Can’t wait to watch the rest.
Aha! Thank you muchly 🙂🎩
You remind me of the show Art Attack. You got that vibe man, keep doing what you're doing 💪
I remember the show fondly 🎩
Hi!! You're funny and awesome!!! Just brilliant!!
Hello and thank you! 🎩
This is so cool! I love your style, and it's super informative! Out of curiosity, what thickness of styrene do you use? I want to try it out for a different book nook, but I'm not sure how thick I need to get so my box doesn't bow.
Thank you! 🎩 It's 1mm for the buildings and 2mm for the box, plus a bit of reinforcement here and there to keep it all happy and square 🙂
@@MogsWorkshop cool, thanks!
Soo cool. Little far away from the fantasy forest I was thinking of but soo glad I stoped by. You are awesome.. Have you been on TV before? If not you sold be 😍👍
Thank you! I haven't been on TV. Maybe one day, if they make a series about building tiny things 🙂🎩
Have you listenened to the Wooden Overcoats podcast? Highly recommend it. The voice you're doing is just like Antigone and it cracks me up.
Also your city is amazing!
Oh, never have. Sounds intriguing! Thank you 🙂🎩
you're the best
I'm glad you liked it! 🎩
What are the electronic parts called that you use to light up the building, for example, the parts you put inside the towers at 6:30. Thanks in advance.
ARGB strips. Ones where you can address each LED and program it to do your bidding 🙂💡
Could you post a parts list and instructions for the lighting FOR DUMMIES?😬😁
ARGB strips / LED's / Fibre optic strands / Adafruit Trinkets
I'm planning some future videos that go through the process of doing this kind of lighting, step by step. Look out for those 🙂🎩
What’s the glue stuff that you’re using here please?
It’s EMA plastic weld for Styrene. You can also use superglue 🙂🎩
This is incredible and so inspiring! I bought a dolls house after I saw this, and am very excited about building an interior for it. Can I ask what the solvent is you use to glue? And if you have the time, what paints, and where I can look to learn about electronics for lighting. Any help would be greatly appreciated, but if not, thank you for sharing your amazing build 😊🙏🏽
Hi, thank you! 🙂🎩
The solvent I use to melt the styrene together is called 'Plastic Weld' by E.M.A. (it's very stinky and evaporates very fast!)
The paints are a mix of Citadel Acrylic and Abteilung Oils.
Here is a fabulous place to start with electronics: learn.adafruit.com/
Have fun, please share what you build 💫
@@MogsWorkshop thank you so much! I will share 😊
Hi, I’m a young fan of your work. I love miniature models like this and would love to make some of my own one day. I love how you include working technology and was wondering if you had any tips or references to how I could learn to make working lights and stuff the way you do. I’m not sure if you’re still responding to comments but I thought it was worth a shot because I’m interested in working with technology but have no knowledge of where to begin.
Hello 🙂🎩 Certainly, no problem! A really super way to get started is to get a cheap but capable Adafruit board and follow a few tutorials on their website: learn.adafruit.com/guides/beginner
I'm also planning to make some 'how to' videos which will cover basics such as soldering, planning circuits and making all sorts of electronics. So stay tuned for those 🙂🎩
@@MogsWorkshop Awesome!! Thank you so much, and I’m definitely looking forward to those videos. I’ve been struggling a lot with breaking into this tech stuff bc no one I know has any information to share with me so hopefully I can learn a lot this way instead👍
Hi, cool project and commentary, love the idea, as someone who might try something like this i would like to know how much did this cost ? thank you for the tutorial anyways
Hello, thank you! It really doesn't cost much at all. Styrene sheeting is just a few £ per pack and the paints were mostly little Citadel pots, plus some oils. These days the electronics can be very reasonable. For example an Adafruit Trinket is just £13 and can do so much. Model railway shops sell things like tiny flower pots and other decorations for low prices (because you won't need many). The rest is just persistence. I can't wait to see what you make! 🙂🎩
@@MogsWorkshop thanks for responding so fast, i guess the main challenge then is to find said specialised shop near me^^
Most places online ship internationally, and Amazon has some stuff too. Happy shopping!
British Jeff Goldblum
What is the printer you used?
Poloroid Hi Print. It's excellent. I got one after watching Techmoan's review: czcams.com/video/J5t0f1RZYTg/video.html
@@MogsWorkshop thanks
I made a book nook with cardboard. I have a video on my channel
I just watched it. It's great! The lighting is really warm and I love the details, great job! :)
I want to believe you are actually an american who is overcompensating with the most british accent and verbiage
Then I shall allow you this supposition without the impact of my own confirmation or denial :D
@@MogsWorkshop 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
