- 2 years with Magnus - Adopting a Greyhound. a video showing some of the differences in Magnus since we adopted him 2 years ago. we cover his appearance, his sleeping arrangements, his behavior. we also go on the Sunday walk at the greyhound trust in Edinburgh, were Magnus gets to meet lots of other greyhounds.

All dogs show us unconditional love but adopted dogs, especially greyhounds, seem to show us more appreciation for what we’ve done for them. I feel we need to spoil them because of the work they’ve had to do in their young lives before we owned them

Just wait! As the years pass, Magnus will continue to amaze and delight you. My dog loved to make me laugh, and he would be so goofy, spinning and tearing around me. Magnus is a lovely confident dog, and you are lucky to have each other. I only wish I had a camera when my dog saw his first snowman!

Thanks for commenting. The 2 years has passed quickly. Its great to hear that people have found the videos useful as that was my aim when making them. I did not want the video to be about me, just Magnus and his adventures.
Our dog, who we raised from a puppy, and didn’t have any kind of hard or scary upbringing, was also very suspicious of plastic bags. And also those big blow-up Christmas and halloween decorations. It was quite cute if im being honest. We’d take him up close to show him, ‘hey, this is nothing to be afraid of’ and he’d get all wiggly and happy as if to say, thsnk goodness we’re safe! I loved that boy so much.

My Malibu “Boo” girl looked just like Magnus!!!! We have been without her now for 2.5 years. She lived to be almost 14. We are now ready for another one!!!! Once you get a Greyhound, no other breed compares!!!!!

Its great seeing Magnus again Thank you for posting this update. And all the beautiful greyhounds- they’re so majestic! I love to see Magnus run, my own beagle used to run like a bandit and would jump so high, but now at almost 15 yrs old is arthritic and can’t hardly walk well. So watching Magnus run around makes me happy. Please film Magnus going to daycare, if possible. Hope you & your family are well, blessings to all.

i just recently said goodbye to me ex-racing greyhound after 7 years. he too had problems with his feet for quite a while when I first got him and he was often frightened of simple things like seagulls drifting in the wind (I live close to the beach) and kites! even the wind blowing the trees would freak him out at first. he got better and better as time passed. i'm now waiting to hear from the south Australian branch of the greyhound adoption program about a new boy or girl. fingers crossed the wait will end soon. can't wait to have another greymate.
Sorry for your loss. They are such special creatures and they connect with us in a delicate way.
Magnus takes us back to our time with our wonderful ex racing greyhounds. The most amazing dogs, we miss them. Thank you for sharing

Thank you for doing your update - I have been considering adopting a greyhound for months and your videos were so helpful while I was research the breed and the adoption process! I just started fostering a young greyhound thanks to your videos. Rewatching them now has been equally as helpful in the adjustment period with my new dog.

Magnus is adorable. We also adopted a dog almost 2 years ago, he is an african village dog, but I'm pretty sure he has greyhound in him. He also didn't know what to do with toys when we first got him. We had to teach him how to use them, but now he loves them, and plays with them all the time.

Aww love this follow up! I'm so happy that Magnus is doing great! My retired racer Derby is much like him - same thing with the fur and bald spots and with the beds and burying under her blankie! She is still working on growing her bottom fur back though :) And she LOVES her squeakies - never rips them up! They have to be furry though or she is not interested. :) She also does her stretches and hops like Magnus! He has a very happy life! Great to see!

@@magnusgreyhound I was this close from getting one about a year or so ago. They had some up for adoption at my local pet shop. I think they were ex racing dogs. However, I'm currently committed with three other K9s in my life. Hopefully one day I'll get one.
We adopted a rescued Galgo Español one year ago and it is so funny to see, how similar he behaves in comparison to Magnus :D

@@Elvilicious In the beginning it is not easy at all and I was completely overwhelmed with the whole situation. But Galgos are very smart dogs and fast learners. You will need a few months of patience, but it will end up fine, I promise.

@@magnusgreyhound That's what I love about dogs - what you give to them you get back. As a rule they're very uncomplicated, they don't ask much, just love and shelter. We've currently got two Jack Russells but we've always loved pointy dogs - our next dog will be a greyhound or lurcher. Have you ever been to Crufts? You really should go on the 'hounds' day to see the greys - you would love it. We try and go each year, it's great fun :)

Obviously very beautiful animal! Now would I be correct in saying he seems a bit heavier then your average Greyhound? But regardless, he is awesome and obviously well loved and cared for. Would love a response, thanks!!
Thanks for watching. Magnus is a large greyhound he is taller and longer than most male greyhounds, although I know of one greyhound who is even bigger than Magnus. we control Magnus's diet to ensure he maintains a healthy weight.

My greyhound Roo LOVES squeeky toys of any kind. My past non-greys would attack a toy when someone squeeked it. But Roo will just find a squeeky toy and squeek it repeatedly and walk around and throw it in the air and pounce on it. I have never met I dog that loves squeekys so much.

I got my sweet boy around the same time you started sharing these videos . Hes had some health issues but all in all such a joy. Such sweet boys. We just added a female . You probably did a video, but what do you feed magnus?
Thanks for commenting. I have made a video of Magnus's diet. Its one of the first videos. It is pretty much the same. Raw food. Product called natural instinct. We also add extra veg and sardines.

Seeing Magnus makes me miss my Valerie even more! She left me about 6weeks ago. I always told her Magnus was her Irish boyfriend. She had a good life, 13 years old. Aren't greyhounds wonderful!!!?

This was really fantastic to see. We are considering a greyhound and are only concerned about the level of shedding. COming from a previous poodle, it's concerning. How big of a deal is the shedding and is it seasonal or year round?
shedding is not a big deal with our greyhounds. they do it about twice a year. we use the shedding blade on them and that gets rid of most of the loose hair.
Ours sheds in April and September. After a poodle, that ought to be a treat!
@@magnusgreyhound I've got to look into one of those shedding blades. I never heard of that; sounds good!
If he has an interest in plastic bags, you should try lure coursing. Lots of fun for dogs.
