Assassin’s Fate held the top spot as my favorite book of 2023 when I initially read it in January, and then it was reinforced when I re-read the Fitz & the Fool trilogy again later in the year. Hobb is the GOAT!

I think RotE might emotionally capture me even more the second time as well, which just speaks to Hobb’s talent 😍

I also love The Long Price Quartet. I’m now reading his The Dagger and the Coin series and really enjoying it 😊

Heeeck yes, I am so here for all the gushing! The Liar's Knot is one of my favourite middle books ever, it's just so so so good! That entire trilogy just has my heart though đŸ„°
And I should really reread The Heroes, because I read it when I was not in the right mood and I recognized that it was brilliant but the emotional investment/enjoyment wasn't there.
Also, YAY for Divine Rivals!! I started my 2024 off with that and have now binged the sequel haha, one of my new favourite duologies!
Oh and thanks for constantly making me want to reread LPQ, Gentleman Bastards, and RotE hahah. Such outstanding series đŸ€©
I posted my unapologetically long favourites list on Before We Go Blog on NYE, so check that out if you want to know my faves, haha. Way too many to mention here! đŸ€Ł

I’m currently reading the sequel to Divine Rivals and I’m so glad that I’ve gotten to these somewhat close together!! Also, I’m so impressed that you even managed a list of 30 favourites down from 300 books haha đŸ˜± there are quite a few on there that I’ve either enjoyed or really need to get to myself, like The Vanished Birds or The Will of the Many!! May 2024 be a great reading year for both of us đŸ„°

@@GraceDionneReads Oooh yay I hope you enjoy Ruthless Vows as much as I did, it was indeed such a great experience to read them as a package deal!
And making that list was agony haha. That's why I also made a 'best surprises' list, to give some of the almost faves a spotlight.
I think you will love The Vanished Birds and Will of the Many, here's to a great 2024!

Thanks to you I got to enjoy the Katherine Arden and Shannon Chakraborty works-both welcome additions outside my usual fare. Chakraborty’s books were especially enjoyable, as the Middle Eastern themes resonated with me given my own Persian heritage. Looking forward to starting Realm of the Elderlings later this year. Hoping I’ll love it as much as Wheel of Time!
Thanks for the new recommendations. I added Daniel Abraham’s (really liked The Expanse!) and M. A. Carick’s works to my TBR.
Other series I’m dying to start are Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive (I’ve read all his other stuff, just about) and Erikson’s Malazan to follow in 2025. So much great fantasy to consume in the modern era!

I'm so happy to hear that you've enjoyed some of my recommendations 😊 it's a great time to read Stormlight Archive in preparation for book 5 and the end of the first arc! There truly is so much fantasy to consume, not complaining, but it can be difficult to pick sometimes!

Sounds like you had a great reaing year! I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Empire of Silence, although I think you should pick it back up at some point...the next book (Howling Dark) blows it out of the water!

I will definitely give it another try, just not sure when! Most people speak so highly of the series that I would like to experience it 😊

When i first read Stoner .. a while ago.. I remember thinking how in hell is this boring book enrapturing me. Nothing overtly exciting happens but itwas incredible. Really speaks to the writer’s skills to be able to tap into our emotions. One of my all time favourites.n

Hahahah why is this such an accurate description! At the beginning of the book I was like hmmm
and then eventually realized that I’d been thoroughly pulled in!
