Apologies for the 'reverb' effect on the audio. It was like that straight from the tape! Had to still share this gem despite that :)

I remember almost all of these. Was watching too much TV back then...
"Enjoy all the overhyped, over commercialization of the Olympics with Conan." Was such a great late night show.

Fifth pocket sounds like a synonym for prison wallet. That's where I store my valuables.

Remember that 90's movie Demolition Man where in the future they listen to commercials instead of music? Now here we are in the future watching old commercials on the internet.

this is all from back when everyone thought our attention spans were getting ridiculously short, so everything was loud and aggressive and edited to look like a fever dream. that last nbc promo felt like the aural equivalent of staring into an LED headlight for 90 seconds.

The arch deluxe with bacon and special seasoning was the best sandwich McDonald's ever made. I served em when I worked there in 95

    • @BADD1ONE
      @BADD1ONE Pƙed 2 lety +3

@@artman2oo3 it was expensive. The sandwich required a special seasoning and Canadian bacon. That was the best bacon any fast food joint ever served. Do you remember the q machine for the buns? Before they started using toasters. The buns were much better then.

My step uncle drove a 96 Geo Prizm he bought new for well over a decade as his commuter car to work, and I don't recall it giving him very much trouble for a basic car. Well at least till a lady rear ended us with a Chevy tahoe in the Dollar General parking lot on Thanksgiving day in 09 when my aunt sent us out to the store for some last minute items. At least no one was hurt, and the insurance company totaled the car for double what it was really worth. BTW he now drives a 2010 model year Honda accord he bought with the money shortly afterwards.

Some of these certainly are weird. Yeah, that tiny fifth pocket on a pair of jeans *might* somehow keep me from being murdered by a drug lord if his super hot wife/mistress hits on me, but 9 times out of 10 that thing is useless.

I wouldn't call the Escape from NY 'bizarre', maybe a different start than your average commercial for an action adventure movie, but it finishes pretty run of the mill.

1996... This was about the time tv was transitioning from the party like, fun living era of the 1980s to the more straight up era of the 1990s... There was still some fun commercials at that time though...
Internet was just taking off at this point... Dialup at that time... I believe AOL was the "worlds fastest, most reliable dialup internet" at that time... Internet Explorer was the main browser then... And Yahoo was the main email and webpage creator thing then...
Cellphones were just really starting to go mainstream at this time... "Flip phones" were the big thing then...
The videogame "console wars" were really starting to kick off around this time... DVD and CD had became the primary media source, cassettes were fading out about this time... This was the beginning of the digital era, or what I call the "dot com" era...
It was about this time we was winding down our first conflict with Iraq (operation desert storm... 5 years later the Twin Towers would fall and we would wind up *BACK* in Iraq under the code name "operation shock and awe" redesignated to "operation Iraqi freedom")...
Reno Nevada had it's biggest blizzard ever recorded in history on this year, several feet of snow with snowbanks as high as 8 to 12 feet high (2 years later in '98 Reno had it biggest flood in history, almost the entire city was under water)...
But 1996 was still a pretty good year... My run of "Eighties" was winding down and I started to "grow up"...
Anyway, I'm going to hop back into my time machine and go back somewhere in the past... Y'all take care and God bless...
