- In today's video, I bring you guys along with me as I shoot street and landscape in Venice, Italy on film. All photos were shot with a variety of film stocks - mostly Kodak Portra 800, Kodak Portra 400, and Ilford HP5 Plus 400. This work was shot over the 2 days I visited Venice in early November of 2022.
Gear I used:
- Camera: Leica M6 & Mamiya 7II

Hey Brie, thanks for your unique take and portrait of my home town. I feel way too many people have sort of raced to a bottom when it comes to street photos in Venice. Love how you applied your own style, themes and composition rather than rinsing & reusing mainstream shots. Keep it up!
Loved this video. ❤
Thank you so much! ❤️
Love the foggy shots! Awesome stuff :)
Thanks!! Appreciate it 💛
Great story and pictures! Also a big thumb's up for the videographer ! :)
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼

So fun! Great video and photos!
Thanks Erik! Glad you enjoyed it!
Very cool. I’m heading to Venice in 2 weeks. Hopefully the photography gods bless me
Have so much fun! It’s an incredible city, hopefully you’ll get great weather but if not I guess it’ll be time to break out the umbrella haha 🙏🏼
👏👏
Appreciate it! 🙏🏼
Amazing video !!never give up!!
Thank you Dexter! 🙏🏼
Venezia was my first European City, I meant to go back last October when I visited Milano, Life had a diff idea so Ill just have to plan another trip there lol. Loved the shots.
Thank you so much! Aww bummer, I hope you get to go back in the near future - it’s such an amazing city as I’m sure you know ✨
I don't think I've ever seen a rowboat this small like that pop had in the last minute of the video. It's like the Smart of canals. 🙂
I guess, it could be a lifeboat of some smaller vessel though.
I know! It was quite the moment to photograph - I’ve never seen a boat that small either 😊
Awesome another great video!
Appreciate the kind words! 🙏🏼
Great work. I only wonder if photography laws in your country are more liberal than in my home country Germany which are very strict. I do also street travel photography and would not dare to shoot e.g. publish people whome I had not ask for permission to publish. You can get in real trouble in Germany, and I kinda envy the freedom you have with your motives. Keep going!
Love the video!!! pls make more of these
Thank you so much! More to come soon 👀💛
@@briepaulsen sorry I have another question, since that film photos resolution should be higher than your video resolution 1920*10800. Have you meet a situation that the film photos are losing quality after exporting the video? or do you have some recommendation of putting film photos in video and not losing its quality? Thanks in advanced!!!
Sabato prossimo porto mio marito a Venezia ma lui ancora non lo sa!🤫🤫🤗
Hello Brie, I discovered you on Instagram and was delighted to see you have a youtube channel too, love your work! I was wondering if you could answer a question about your process if you don't mind. Since you carry two cameras of two different formats, what's your criteria for deciding what camera to use for a particular photo? Does it depend on the scene itself, or the aspect ratio, or something else? I would love to know as I have a Mamiya 7ii also, and considering also getting a 35mm camera (probably a leica m6) mainly so I can have more shots per roll on trips, and this will probably sound silly but I'm a bit of an overthinker and I fear that having both options will end up giving me analysis paralysis and make me doubt my decision each time I take a photo lol. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that :)
