Straight too the point what I come for and I like it
@@kgfes LOL Yes!
He's GREAT!!!!
High quality info and presentation.
Fantastic video bud, I’d looked up quite a few articles on this problem and the way your video is broken down into segments on how and where the vibration happens along with it being straight to the point with no excess BS is great. Good job man
Dude , I am impressed , because this is the way professionals like you explains subjects in details , and teaches peoples , the way you share your knowledge, and know how , God bless you , and more power to you . THANK YOU
I did not know that Josh Peck give such good information about cars.
Lmao riighhtttt
Oh my God I knew he looked someone . Hahaha
Lmao 🤣 I had the biggest crush on him
nahahah
Its the alternator. THE ALTERNATOR!
Thank you. I think you hit the nail on the head for me with the first idle problem as my check engine light is constant and then it flashes, then it is constant again.
Your videos are always helpful man. Keep it up 👍🏽
A very informative video. Helps a lot for us general citizens to identify and pin point the exact problem
This guy is amazing, thank you for all the info. Definitely got straight to the point.
I must thank you for everything .I have learned a lot and will be learning more .just keep it up man
Thanks for posting this good Sir! Had that annoying vibration, brought wheels in for balancing and it's all smooth at top speed. Thank you again
You are really good at explaining everything thoroughly but to the point with great illustration. Thank you.
I was suspecting that my aftermarket CV axle was causing a little bit of vibration on acceleration, and this analysis confirms it. It didn't have the extra weight on the axle like the OEM. Thanks!
I love your teachings!!! Thank you for making good informational videos.
Your information is so good and you very experience guy
Good bless you bro
Thank you for this to narrow down why my car vibrates at idle. I have check all the symptoms and now I can say is my steering box due to front end collision
Thank you for this video. You gave me more answers than any mechanic ever did.
Yes your videos are straight to the point.
I love how this info is made fully accessible and understandable for people like me!! I don’t know much about cars and this gave me peace of mind :’) thank you!
the only channel to answer my question, thanks for the info!
thank you for your channel. your videos have helped and taught me so much in the last year.
Ratchets and wrenches how's it going bro this is a great video very educational. Diagnosing symptoms.
Thanks for making this video. I been chasing this vibration in my steering wheel. Tires, wheels, axles, upper control arms, end links, and outer tie rods are all good. I'm narrowing it down to the inner tie rods now that you mention them in the video.
Could be your co2 sensor
Wheel balance
@@clappedfirebird4541 I got the wheels balanced 2x but problem still there. I have aftermarket wheels with aluminum hub rings. Going back to stock wheels and if problem persists, I will replace the inner tie rods. It's a 13 year old car and they have never been replaced.
I found a bad lower ball joint and it reduced vibrations after I replaced it. But vibrations still there at freeway speeds. I now suspect the passenger axle is going bad. My Acura is lowered and there's a known issue that lowering car puts extra stain on cv axle.
I had the same problem and couldn't find the source of the vibration after changing out several parts and now figured out it is bad struts and strut mounts.
Your support and simplicity is outlandish, not of this greedy world!!! Good on ya, Sir!!! aBHISHEK
I agree with The Roach. Keep up the good work and thank you.
I enjoy the no-nonsense presentation. Just the info I need.
Perfect very CLEAR best video EVER👊
The most informative video about car shaking ever!
Appreciate your videos thanks for being straight forward
All im hearing is more money more money more money 😂🤦🏾♂️💔
Might be mounts cheap.
0:20 twenty seconds in and just straight to the topic...COOL!!! I SUBBED :)
Thank you so much. I'm pretty sure mine is the motor mounts. Great video 👍
Man!! Great video especially for a woman who has little knowledge about the parts and functionality of the parts that the mechanics are talking about!! Thank you so much!
Great video! Direct and informative.
I really love your videos keep up the great work and greetings from New Jersey
Great bro. Very nicely explained . Perfectly analyzed.
Thank you for precise and clearly explained video!!!
In my experience I thought there's a problem in the engine because the vehicle seem to be jumping when in moderate speed. I consulted two mechanics and they mentioned two different things with a high cost of repairs. Before I will do the what the mechanics told me I have to hear some ideas about what is happening in my car. I related the issue to my friend who is a tinsmith and he said, "let's have a road test". After a kilometer he decided that we will jack up the rear tires, turn on the engine and engage it to the second gear and rev the engine. It was the right rear right tire that was oblong because it turns unevenly. He recommended for a replacement and I did it with the two rear tires and we got the issue solved.
It's not obvious that there is something wrong with the tires, they look good, not so worn out but it's already 6 years in use.
Shaking badly when you drive, or you feel as if the vehicle jumps even loaded as it moves forward, maybe the rear tires are old and needed to be replaced.
Str8 to the point, i love it
Simple to understand & to the point! Subscribed!
You are the first guy to verbally say my problem and give me a solution. You get a like from me.
" or if you're trying to race somebody on the freeway" ratchets is a Savage truth snitch
My girlfriends car shakes late at night when it’s off any ideas?
Malik Sounds like she’s in there with a vibrator. Get RnW to take a look for you 😏
Yeah, she's porking somebody in the rear seats. That will cause the vehicle to shake when its off...i should know...😂
Yo dumb!...it's your girlfriend's lover banging her!....😎
Yes get a new car I mean girl umhmm
Malik - Oops! Sorry about that. 😉
Good video. l like how you explained accurately and precisely what can cause vibration while driving and when the car is stationary . You gave us 6 reasons not 5 .
Since mechanic labour and parts cost is extremely low in Pakistan for old cars i am gonna get checked everything. Thanks for this Awesome Video.
. good mechanics that actually talk to you and you actually understand what they are telling them to leave
Universal Joints on the drivers shaft should be in the top 5 considering it spins 4 times faster than the wheels. Worn out universal joints can cause an imbalance to the drivers shaft causing vibration or shudder when moving off.
Great video. My 2006 ford explorer just started doing what you explained from 4:23. Everything you explained about the problem is what my truck does. Time to change that motor transmission mount.
Thank you Mr. Ratchets, for an excellent detailed video.
You explain hard things about a car making it easy to understand 👍🏻❤️
A lot of good information here. Thank you. I'm not sure my issue was addressed though.
The issue: At 50 mph there is a vibration with a higher engine rev sound which gets more pronounced as I increase throttle. It sounds and feels like I have the car in 3rd gear at 50 mph or higher even though It's definitely in 5th gear yet my RPM's read normal (2,500 RPM @ 50mph). While driving at higher speeds - when I disengage the clutch and put the transaxle into neutral, the high rev sound and vibrations disappear entirely.... when I re-engage the transaxle and engine, the high revving and vibrations return. The issue is specific to when power from the engine engages the transaxle.
Car Specs: 00 Toyota Celica GT 1zz-fe engine and 5 speed manual transaxle. I recently swapped my original 1zz-fe engine (which died at close to 350k miles) with another 1zz-fe from an 04 Corolla JDM. During the process, I installed a stage 2 clutch, had my flywheel resurfaced, and purchased brand new Genuine Toyota motor mounts from the dealership. I also purchased after market motor mount inserts to give the motor mounts a little extra firmness. I also replaced the intake manifold gasket, and the exhaust manifold gasket with factory OEM parts from the dealership. Drive shafts are stock and inspected to be in good condition (although the driver's side gave me a hard time during re-install). Tires are relatively new, as they were replaced around 800 miles before the engine swap. I performed all of the work according to Toyota specs outlined in the repair manual.
Opinion: would it still be the wheel hub bearings, tie rods, or tires, etc given that the noises and vibrations stop when I put the car in neutral and coast down the road at 60 mph? I'm thinking the sound and vibration wouldn't be predicated upon whether or not the transaxle is engaged with the engine if that were the case. If the bearings are bad... there would be sound that either gains or decreases commensurate with velocity not with engine engagement or lack thereof. Could this be a vacuum issue? Or an exhaust issue?
I actually wondered about the engine mounts on my drive to work this morning, so that's an interesting mention in your video; however, I'm most concerned that this issue will require me to drop the transaxle again. The sounds and symptoms just aren't consistent with any transaxle or clutch issue I've ever heard of or had.
don't know if you ever got it fixed but if you did mind telling me what it was i'm having the same issue and can't figure out what it is
@@seno6788 I have not yet gotten the issue fixed, but I think I have narrowed my suspects down to the clutch and flywheel. I've actually had to wait until the school year ended to pull the transaxle and clutch in order to get to the bottom of the issue. Since I needed my car to drive to and from school, I just couldn't afford to rip half the engine apart to drop the transaxle. So, I am about to start that job up in the next few days now that summer break has started and kids are out of school now.
I was driving along from the beach barefoot, and could feel in my clutch peddle some severe vibration that I could never feel with regular shoes on. That vibration was never present prior to the engine swap and clutch "upgrade." As it turned out I did have a bad sway bar stabilizer that had gone bad on the passenger side of the car, so I replaced both the driver's and passenger's side with a set of Moog stabilizers. While some noise (which turned out to be unrelated) has gone away now, the vibration issue still persists. While dealing with the suspension issues, I inspected my wheel hub bearings and they were fine. So, I've ruled out the bearings, tie rods, mounts etc as the culprits. At this point I really do believe the problem is with the clutch and/or flywheel. Especially since I can feel that vibration in the clutch pedal.
If I'm right, the issue is that this clutch might just be either causing a slight imbalance in my flywheel, or perhaps when I took the flywheel to get surfaced at the machine shop they might have messed up the balance of it. I've been dreading doing this job, but the time is finally here to do it, so I'll try to remember to report my findings here when it's done.
Tie rod ends are and should be number one reason in any shaking/vibration to the vehicle all the way up through the steering wheel well said very true number 1 problem of shaking is caused by inner and outer tie rod ends and upper and lower ball joints needing replaced number 1 reason he hit the nail on the head with this video
Very well explained..
All technical factors covered
Subscribed your channel 👍
For things like this is why you got to love CZcams thank you for the information sir
Easy enough for even a woman to understand. Great video.
Thanks.I like how your make yours videos . keep it up!
Thank you so much 👍 for a great explanation
I find my issue is steering wheel. I knew it was steering wheel on my Mazda 3. Thanks for the video!
El Ferdo Rivas I’m here because of my Mazda 3! I’ll have to check the wheel
El Ferdo Rivas I'm here because of my Mazda 3 too! I'm taking it to the mazda dealership next week to see what's up
You literally described all of my problems
Perfectly explained appreciated
On point. I had shaking problem whenever i pressed brakes on high speed. thanks to this video i get to know the actual cause.
Great video but what about excessive shaking in the cabin when I turn on the air conditioning
Can you or have you done a video on replacing the front Trans axel seal on a Scion xB 09???
Great video bro!
Great video and explanation, really useful for me right now.
I had issues with stuck break pads and it took 4 different mechanic to figure out lol🤯🤪😀
you are like an automotive information Jesus. please take no offense. but your style is exelent.
@ODC Art someone cant figure out whats wrong with their car huh
My car shakes at about 140kph, dude it flet really good when he said it was the tires, looking forward to get that fixed!
His name might really be Jesus
ODC Art let people enjoy thing karen
Best compliment ever
Thanks for the Video, explains the shakes clearly. Mine is just opposite of #2, my jeep cherokee (2.4l fwd 17k miles) shakes (cabin and steering) when I start in the morning. When its put in drive/neutral/reverse there is no vibration in the cabin. But in traffic lights it shakes lightly which I can feel. When in parking it shakes the same way. I have been experiencing this for couple of months after oil servicing done by dealer.
Did you find the problem?
@@jennikn6630 No, the dealer told that its normal when vehicle gets older
Thanks for the video really awesome .. My car was vibrating at 100 KPMh today ..I have recently changed my front wheel tyres and today is the first time I was driving at that speed . so will check Tyre balancing and Wheel caps also
I'm having the same problem. Any info on what it was the reason ?
Thanks for the great video.
I think that exhaust system problems can make it to the list of reasons of vibration
Great Friend Good information 👍
I have sold Nissan for ever and I have never heard of this. Thank you for the Informative info
Thx
My wife use to complain about the car shaking, I told her it was because the car feared who was behind the wheel of it. found out, and in good timing, some lugnuts were loose and two missing. yikes!
T.BONE/SIDE OF LIFE 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That's funny.
Elon Blunt 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂so true
😜

Everytime I go to the shop they say I need an alignment but I've done that and still shakes. Thank you for more options!
I was turned away when I went for an alignment. I was told to fix my brakes.
You probably have suspension components that are worn beyond spec. Once the suspension starts sagging the alignment will go out. If you've got bad ball joints you can align it all you want.
@@WhiTeaNdNeRDyreal my ball joints are ok (ish). Mine only shakes over 70 or after braking on the highway. I think my problem is worn rotors or brake pads... Or both. Hopefully, I'll find out this weekend, but I'll try bleeding my brakes, first. I've only had this truck for about a month.
@HaydenArter Did you get yours fixed?
@@johnnyc4738 yeah sorry it was mostly fixed the brakes but it still happens ever so often.
Thank you for making these videos. I've learned a lot from you and appreciate everything you say!!
great basic knowledge video. God bless you.
Great video, i have a ford scape 2010, i have a issue where my car makes a wise noise when my car is at a stop light the noise will only go away if i but my car in neutral or park , the noise does not happen when driving only when the car is on drive and i come to a stop i will start to make a wise noise, any ideas
Jesus Duarte check your belts
Belts/pulley
When stationary if i just move my wheel left or right about a 1/4 turn there is a brief vibration. Turn it back same again. Weird. Just cant pinpoint it. PAS pump was new 3 years ago. Belt tension ok.
Did you figure out what the issue was? My car is doing the same thing
Adrian Bonilla that’s sounds like power steering fluid or something to do with power steering is not working properly (take this with a grain of salt I’m no professional)
Thanks man new sub. I have a multiple misfire signal, changed the plugs got a littler better acceleration. Thinking about getting new coil packs
great video with all the information i need to fix my car. thanks a lot
Please can you do a similar video for transmission sounds or harsh shifts?
@James B sounds like you need a trans rebuild. My old car did that too. It should shift smoothly.
You must have 2012 Ford focus POS!
Had that problem on a 2007 Ford Escape. Rebuilt the transmission for $1,000, problem went away only to start having symptoms again after a few years. It also leaks transmission fluid. Most of the time, transmission failures are due to transmission fluid leaks. I have 2 manual cars and my family owns 4 automatic cars.
All the automatic cars leak and have been repaired before, which means the technicians are not sealing it properly. They just have to follow the basic instructions for RTV sealant, but most likely they don't, because they are in a rush and don't want to wait the 24h cure time before refilling with fluid.
@James B i have had.a parking pawl do this eventually it broke off and no park nust use e brake
I've had shaking at low and high speeds and it's intermittent but definitely coming from the tires. When it started I was driving only about 35 to 40 mph. Sometimes the steering wheel shakes as well. One thing that I must note is when it stated my wheel started smoking and smelling like burning rubber. Then it suddenly stopped and didn't happen for a month and was back.
Front end suspension issue right?
Check for a dragging brake caliper
The caliper was stuck now the other has started
@@foreverwood1963 If you are a DIY type, pull the caliper off and clean and lubricate it. Otherwise a shop will just throw on a new one
@@jamesstuart3346 Yes I tried that with the first one and it was so seized it would’ve needed a rebuild so I changed it out. I am pretty handy and learn quickly those things I read up on
Awesome vid bro!!
Thanks ...made alot of light for me, made alot of sense for a person without mechanical education. Thanks
I was waiting for any mention of the clutch
hello
what if i have vibration on the engine only on idle ???
thank you
TOM RAST I have the same problem
You explain very clearly. Thank you
This information is spot on! Excellent video!
Lets not forget wheel bearings. Those can cause vibration too.
Changed rotors, calipers, & hub bearing assembly, still shakes horrible when on brakes, but only when wheel is turned slightly to left, buy goes away turned slightly to right! I'm thinking electronic steering gear box
Alignment problem.. take it to get an alignment properly but don't take it to where they have specials on alignments usually those guys don't do a good job. Hope that helps ;)
Had the same thing happen to me. Turned out to be a lower control arm that had a very worn bushing. The front wheel had 2 inches of play if you moved it with your hand.
@@FD36 thanks, I'll look into it
@@manuelescoto100 I'll also check into this
A mechanic told me my tire was cupping.
Thank you so much for the info bruh.
You're the best and supper honest explanation 👌.
If I'm racing someone and my car starts to misfire I'd suspect it was tampered with especially if it ran fine before
Ren J need for speed most wanted?
Pro tip: save before the boss race, so you can restart if you don't get the pink slip!
Misfires can happen really fast tbh
My car vibrates a lot in idle you can feel it on your feet sitting in the car. There's no engine light but I notice at idle the RPM needle moves up and down ever so slightly. Lights on the car and in the cabin dim a bit too then come back. It might be a miss fire I haven't noticed any loss in performance and at highway speeds it's fine just at idle it vibrates a lot
Probably engine mount, or a pulley. If not lost of power. Check pulley in which power the alternator
Anthony Mckinley do you think the belt could be slipping could be why the lights are dimming cause the alternator powers everything and the cars computer could be getting not enough power could be throwing off information to the engine why the RPM needle moves up and down at idle making it vibrate. Just my thoughts
I dont think its the belt. Try the scanner to see if something comes up. My guess is the air pressure. It can be a leak in the air hose or. Airflow sensor. Rpm is usually move with from the air intake. It also cause it to move around. And power up the alternator. If there no codes. Then air must be escaping somewhere.
Anthony Mckinley I did the scan tool no codes and no pending codes also no check or service engine lights on the dash. Maybe it's all normal and just how it runs. It's a Pontiac grand am 04 if that helps v6 3.4 maybe it's just a dirty MAF Sensor I'll try cleaning it and replace the air filter
@@ryans413 try vacuum leak
Really helpful video. Thank you so much.
Very helpful 👍 best info video I've watched .
thanks. grand daughter's corolla only vibrates when stopped in drive. i'll check the motor mounts.
could also need a "tuneup". Dirty oil, air filter, and throttle body can cause some vibration at idle. If you do a tuneup and vibrations are still there, engine mounts are the likely problem.
thanks. i'll do that.
Could be both tune ups or motor mounts, actually had both of these done at the same time since this was my issue as well ended up being the mounts ! But hey tune ups don’t hurt
I have an ‘04 Corolla and I was amazed by how much changing the engine air filter and cleaning the MAF improved idle. I also changed the oil and spark plugs but didn’t notice much difference from that.
@@58gennaro did the vibration go away?
My problem sounds like motor/transmission mounts. I drive a 2003 Kia. Is this a problem I should fix immediately, or can I put it off for a while? I tend to just throw the car in neutral while at traffic lights.
Thankyou…you are easily understood, & cover all aspects that could cause the vibration(my auto). It took a deep search to find you‼️I’m going to like you a, subscribe & watch many of your video so I see you more often.👍
If you have a transverse engine, shifting from drive to park and allowing it to sit in gear for a few seconds... just keep shifting from D to R to D and it will show the wear of the mount in the very front of the subframe. The engine will rock back and forth after the gear change.
BTW, I've never heard of "axle shaft balance" before. Worked in several shops (tune ups) for about 10 years. Now you have me wondering about my axles.
Can you help me? I’ve spent 2 hours watching videos I have a 12 cts all wheel drive. This morning I went to 7 11 and when I reversed out of my spot my car was shaking . Back to drive and it was fine. I get home back into my spot and it’s shaking the whole time it’s in reverse.. I can’t find and answers. No check engine lights on. No other issues
