  • PAKSIW NA BANGUS RECIPE (Exact ingredients below)
    is one of the easy and quick Filipino dish recipe. Bangus or milkfish is simmered in vinegar, pepper, onions and ginger with some eggplant and bitter gourd. It is more tasty on the next day or morning, it compliments well with garlic rice and coffee.
    Ingredients:
    2 thumb size ginger
    1 medium size onion
    1 medium size of bangus
    1/2 tsp whole peppercorn
    1 cup of vinegar
    2 tbsp of fish sauce
    1 tsp of sugar
    1 cup of water
    1 small size of ampalaya or bitter gourd
    2 pcs of eggplant
    3 pcs green chili
    1 tbsp of cooking oil

    Just made this today .... sooooo good! My husband ate it by itself, no rice! Napakasarap ng sabaw, nanuot sa gulay ang lasa ... will be adding more ampalaya and talong again then simmer sa sabaw without the bangus, napakasarap sabi ni asawa.     i started living alone since 2021. dhil s ako nlng mag isa, need ko matuto magluto para sa sarili ko. and thank God nakita ko po ang channel nyo. hindi lang sa masasarap mga recipe nyo, straight to the point of cooking pa kayo. walang eme eme na pagsasalita na aabutin ng 20 mins ung video.

    First time ko makatikim ng ganitong luto ng paksiw sa Angono, Rizal last 2016, luto ng biyenan ng tito ko. Gulat ako nun kasi may ampalaya. Putek nung natikman ko hinahanap hanap ko na. Salamat po sa recipe na to, try ko bukas!! 😅

    Yes, that's the kind of paksiw na bangus I like --CLASSIC. Ayaw ko ng may bawang o lemon grass kasi iba na ang lasa para sa akin. I tried putting some garlic and lemon grass before BUT it made me NAUSEUS. Don't get me wrong I love lemon grass and garlic but for some reason the taste did not agree to my liking. Paksiw na bangus ang paborito ko bata pa ako. Pag nagpupunta ako sa restaurant ng lolo at lola ko nung yan palagi ang request ko na ulam. Bago kami nagpunta dito sa America nagpaturo ako sa lolo kong magluto ng paksiw na bangus. Ganyan din ang gusto ko sa GG at tilapia. Kaso takot na akong bumili ng tilapia dito kasi kadalasan lasang putik. Pero pag may tindang live na tilapia sa Asian store bumibili ako pero mas mahal pa sa salmon. YUM!

    - Try to use kalamansi juice instead of vinegar when cooking paksiw 😉
    - Add Sinigang sa sampalok powder when cooking pork or chicken adobo. And cooked it until the adobo looks like dry (which means no more sarsa)
    - Try adding Chicken or Beef Noodles (including the seasonings) when cooking ginisa o ginataang papaya at ginataang puso ng saging.
    - Frying eggplant? Just cut it lengthwise and fry it, where the skin of the egg plant is on the floor of the frying pan. No inorganic seasonings. You only need oil.
    - Cooking dilis? And you hate it's saltiness? Fry it with sugar.
    - Dried Tamban? New recipe? Cooked it with sweet and sour flavor of sauce.
    - Looking for new vegetables? Ginataang talulot ng dahon ng Bayabas o dahon ng Cassava is what you're looking for.
    - Pinakukuluan mo lang yung mga crabs? Why not cooked it with coconut juice and coconut meat?

    Hindi nga tayo pareho magluto bangus my favorite lalo paksiw. E saute mo with ginger first add garlic much better taste add all ingredients including veggies fish last on top simmer gawin mo my version will see the outcome. Good luck.

      Cors yan ang subukan mong gawin ang ginawa nya. Simple lang wala masyadong rekado basta malinis na malinis ang bangus napakasarap na nyan. kasi kaya ko nasabi yan ganyan na ganyan din ang way ko ng pag gawa ng Paksiw na bangus hehehe

    Paksiw is my favorite to cook. I put a lot of garlic though without the ginger and onions and only Maruchan vinegar and olive oil. Always a hit in my house!

    True hindi ako ganyan magluto ng paksiw kasi mas masarap dian luto ko. Turo ng mother ko. She puts in jalapenos, radishes, taking. Puro tiyan gusto ko . Sarap eh.😘dito sa UK may wetfish market pero walang milkfish...so seabreem or sea bass or tilapia binibili ko.

    My Nanay loved Paksiw na Bangus... the same procedure as you except that she cook it in earthern ware (Palayok) - she also puts sliced Bitter gourd (ampalaya) and eggplant and of course siling haba. Dapat ang kanin bagong luto! Healthy choice. Thanks for sharing..

    Aside from the regular paksiw condiments/rekado I also add sampalok sabaw ng sinigang mixed for my additional pampaasim. A very good taste twister. It balances the strong sourness of regular vinegar. But if there's abundance of fresh kamias, it's what I use solely for pampaasim. Medyo pisain muna ang bawat pirasong kamyas bago ihalo sa lulutuing paksiw.

    i prefer yung maraming kamatis at sibuyas. Perfect to para sa akin khit sa anong fish.
