Richard Wagner DIE WALKÜRE (Act 1) Conductor: Asher Fisch Jonas Kaufmann, Lise Davidsen, Georg Zeppenfeld Bayerisches Staatsorchester Live broadcast on 13 May 2021 via STAATSOPER.TV.
Fantastic soloists! I saw Kaufmann in Naples last Spring, as Siegmund; he was great. I am seeing next month Davidsen in Forza del Destino. Davidsen and Fisch seem to have a basic disagreement about tempo, but she just sails forth, while Fisch tries to match her tempo!
Meravigliosa Davidsen.Spero poterla ascoltare fra qualche anno nel ruolo di Brunhilde,Salome,Elektra e la moglie di Barak nella Donna senz'ombra.Auguri alla grande Lise
The perceived dynamics (im-)balances in this recording (allowing for the fact that in person it might have been perfect) make it impossible for me to enjoy. The orchestra is buried; the thrilling running string section passage work is barely audible in the tempestuous parts of this great Sieglinde narrative, "Der Männer Sippe", of which we only have here the final 1/3 or so. Davidsen has a glorious voice, but her execution was technically far from faultless (intonation issues). Those same technical issues were on display as well with Sieglinde's greatest interpreter, Leonie Rysanek, who inhabited that role so deeply in character that considerations surrounding vocal production where nearly beside the point. Lise hasn't yet entered that role to such intimate depths as I think she might be capable of eventually; there certainly was a lot of Brunhilde potential here but she's probably been advised not to go there until more years have been added to her voice. I think that she could become the great Brunhilde that we haven't heard since Nilsson, Varnay, and Flagstad. Kaufmann is a capable heldentenor given these non-Wagnerian times, but next to Davidsen's vocal hurricane a Siegmund the likes of Vickers or Melchior is needed as a balance!
Wonderful, thank you for sharing ♥

Poor Kaufmann haha doesn’t stand a chance in the presence of her voice
Kaufman is turning into a mosquito Arnaud Bourbon Amaral ,
Wagner's orchestra should be in the pit. Kaufmann sounds like the Lion from the Wizard of Oz.
Kaufmann sounds underpowered.
Next to Davidsen almost anyone does
Because he is
Kaufmann incomparável.
Yes very bad
Nessuno dei due è adatto, purtroppo...
I have listened to many clips with L. Davidsen and it is sad to hear this vibrato she has already. Not flattering at all!!
It’s increasing yes
@@draganvidic2039 She showed great promise soon it will be a wobble
She could be the best and he will never be good with that pushed darkened lyric voice…
