One of the most shocking and outraging finales of all operas. What a great music, so dramatic without excess! The final chords perfectly convey horror, absurdity, denouncing the sheer evil we've just witnessed. This interpretation by Kurzak, Alagna and Anger is peerless, perhaps the most touching I have heard, and impeccably sung, too. I love a modern production that trusts in and respects the intent and spirit of the piece like this one, it's if anything even more shocking to us because it's relatable, we can imagine things like this happening again in our own lifetime, we aren't much better than the people from centuries ago in times of crisis and conflict.

Some nice singing there... but gosh, that particular Bohemian village looks pretty bleak! I'll have to see if I can find some info online about what the director was trying to communicate. I think most folks go to see "Bartered Bride" expecting a bright, mostly cheery sojourn in a fairly carefree Czech countryside. Guess the director had other ideas! Hope they worked.

Seither verfolge ich ihre Karriere aufmerksam und merkte einmal an, daß sie den Namen Elisabeth zurecht trage, da sie auf den Spuren von Elisabeth Grünmer und Elisabeth Schwarzkopf wandle. Musik und Inszinierung sollten zusammenpassen. Natürlich kann man die Perversion der Macht dort hineininterpretieren, aber es sollte so umgesetzt werden, dass es zur Musik passt. Ramstein Inszinierung und Mozart Musik sind wie die Faust auf das Auge. Da fehlt den Kreativen das Gespühr für die Harmonik.

Wohl entgegen vieler anderer Stimmen finde ich die Inszenierung durchaus sehr gelungen. Eine sehr gute und gleichermaßen natürliche Darstellung der sehr dramatischen Geschichte. Von der grandiosen Musik ganz zu schweigen…

Hideous staging as usual from this opera house, pity for the fantastic singers. This is the biggest tragedy. Oh, those awful red haircuts! I cannot focus on Puccini with all this garbage. I love Kaufmann and Kristine, great chemistry.

Why does this opera house have great performers and the most absurd and grotesque staging in the world? Shame on you for ruining everything you put on. I would need to be paid to sit through your shows.

Ich war gestern Abend in dieser Oper in München. Leider hatte ich beim Kartenkauf nicht gesehen, dass es eine Neuinszenierung ist. Ich hatte die alte Inszenierung in Erinnerung. Was soll ich sagen, vom Bühnenbild und der Inszenierung leider überhaupt nicht mein Geschmack. Komplett nackte Menschen auf der Bühne, Cavaradossi fotografiert statt zu malen, Männer in Frauenkleidern werden misshandelt, die Kapelle durch eine Truhe ersetzt, irgendwelche Kameraleute und Gefolge laufen wirr über die Bühne in Radlerhosen. Viel zu viel Unruhe im Bühnenbild, das von der eigentlichen Handlung und dem Gesang ablenkt. Und natürlich fehlte die Wokenes nicht. Es gab nach dem 1. Akt Buhrufe. Das tat mir für die Sänger unheimlich Leid, aber ich denke sie haben verstanden wofür es Buhrufe gab. Dafür wurden sie am Schluss für ihren wunderbaren Gesang mit Applaus belohnt. Ludovic Tézier, Eleonora Burrato waren grandios. Charles Castronovo war für meinen Geschmack zu schwach. Ist aber Geschmackssache. Alles in allem ein grandioser Gesang aber die Inszenierung fehl am Platz. Leider ist modern nicht immer gleich gut. Il Trittico ist modern an der Staatsoper aber es lenkt nicht ab und nimmt den Zuschauer mit. Eine gelungene Inszenierung im Vergleich zu dieser. Die Sänger tun mir richtig leid.

Marina Abramović has always seem exploitative and disingenuous - perhaps it’s all the work done to her face, the filler around her mouth, the filler in her lips, she looks plastic and like a vain peron… which detracts from the suspension of disbelief with her work. I am not a very knowledgable fan of Callas, but the modest amount have have heard/researched/enjoys shows me that this Abramović hag can’t hold a candle to Maria Class… and this vanity project is using Callas nostalgia to promote her own brand of nonsense. When I see ‘artists’ like Marina… I can’t help but think of the story ‘The Emperor's New Clothes’.
