lived in Southport my whole life, many people are still bitter we are no longer part of West Lancs, we joined Sefton council and most of the money now goes to the bloody Bootle shopping centre.
My grandparents lived in Southport. Amazing how run down and shabby it looks compared to 20 years ago. The Funfair/Seaside attractions side of things was always a little down at heel (I imagine since the working British man discovered the Costa del Sol), but the shopping side of the town was always well kept. 3:53 - Rossi's Ice Cream has been a presence in Southport for generations.
I totally agree with you, 25 years ago I was a coach driver and spent many weeks in the Scarisbrick hotel on Lord street, Southport really was a nice place to visit, sad to see many of the buildings falling into decay,
I really like Southport, on it's day it is brilliant! It's just a shame that it has not a very good image, probably because it's let down massively by the local council. That's just a theme for most British seaside towns though isn't it?

I was a child in the 1960's and we lived in The Wirral, Southport was an almost fabled beach destination to us, living in Upton a suburb of ancient Chester, landlocked, anything to do with the seaside was exotic to us, holidays at Llandudno, but these Wirral beach towns were equally appealing, New Brighton, Southport, they look shabby and neglected now, very sad.

Joiner carpenter, took me to Southport, Lytham/St Annes...made and fitted Bay Windows,cut glass and putted it in...went on the beaches and Sand Dunes...been up a few times after marriage..Great times. There is something charming about Southport but the way that businesses and staff were far more welcoming of you than usual made the video a far friendly affair than usual which I enjoyed.

It was most likely a short film as the street sign wasn't blurred, like they usually are in feature films. I only skipped through the film, but you could get the gist. Ainsdale Tuesday was stunning, tide high, golden sand, gorgeous sky, sandhills, views across to Blackpool/lake district/then south to Liverpool Bay, watching the ships approach/view as far as Snowdonia, stunning. Not one scrap of litter on the beach/beach patrol and lifeguards all carrying out their duties intently. Very impressed, thank you Ainsdale it was glorious bringing back many memories!

My education I know nothing :) Something very funny about TAX To pay for the public services and the workers, taxes are taken from the private sector. The people and companies that work for the public sector pay their taxes in all aspects of their lives, income tax, VAT, council tax, car tax, and many many more. However, none of their taxes makes or adds any more digits or one more pennies to the tax total as you cannot pay tax from tax.
