Kamaru Usman:
Kamaru Usman (born May 11, 1987) is an American professional mixed martial artist, former freestyle wrestler and retired folkstyle wrestler. He currently competes in the Welterweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the former UFC Welterweight Champion. Usman is also The Ultimate Fighter 21 tournament winner. As of November 14, 2022, he is #1 in the UFC men's welterweight rankings, and as of September 26, 2023, he is #7 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings.
Usman was born in Auchi, Nigeria.His father was a major in the Nigerian Army and his mother was a teacher. He has two brothers, Kashetu and Mohammed, the latter of whom is also a mixed martial artist and fellow The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner. Usman had a modest upbringing during his childhood. Usman's father Muhammed Nasiru Usman, who became a pharmacist in the United States, brought his family into the country when Usman was eight years old, immigrating to Dallas, Texas.
Usman is expected to step in on 10 days notice, as a replacement for an injured Paulo Costa, to face Khamzat Chimaev in a middleweight bout on October 21, 2023, at UFC 294. This will be Usman's middleweight MMA debut.

Khamzat Khizarovich Chimaev born 1 May 1994), is a Swedish professional mixed martial artist and freestyle wrestler who competes in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He formerly competed in Brave Combat Federation. In wrestling, Chimaev is a three-time Swedish National champion. As of 9 May 2023, he is #4 in the UFC welterweight rankings.
Chimaev was scheduled to face Nate Diaz on 10 September 2022 in the main event of UFC 279. At the weigh-ins, Chimaev weighed in at 178.5 pounds, seven and a half pounds over the welterweight non-title fight limit. As a result of missing weight, Chimaev was removed from his main event bout with Diaz, and instead faced Kevin Holland in the co-main event at a 180-pound catchweight bout. Holland was already set for a 180-pound catchweight bout against Daniel Rodriguez on the card. Chimaev won the bout via D'Arce Choke in the first round.
After a one-year layoff, Chimaev is scheduled to return to middleweight against former middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa on 21 October 2023, at UFC 294. However, due to injury forcing Costa to pull out of the fight, Chimaev is now set to face former UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.
