I keep revisiting this one. And, outside of the incredible harmonies, I finally figured out why. It's the moment when James tells Sam that, when he first heard his music, that he knew he'd be listening to his voice for the rest of his life. What an amazing opportunity for a fan to tell that to an artist and for an artist to hear that from a true fan. Who wouldn't want that opportunity? It's exactly how I felt the first time my dad introduced me to both Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. Even though they both passed well before I was born, that was exactly how I felt. I can't imagine having the opportunity to say those words to either one of those gentlemen and to be able to thank them for what they've added to my life by virtue of their songs and their talents. The closest I will ever get to that is to pass that love along to the younger ones in my family. Which, of course, I've done my best to do. Just a nearly perfect moment that will keep me revisiting this video.

It's the fact that he was able to sing harmonizing while staying on key with the actual singer right next to him, an accomplished singer in fact. take 2:26 song for an example. You haven't heard anyone harmonize with Sam at all with that note since it's already high enough.

Back again because I realized the other reason I keep coming back to it. Sam's genuine joy when Fifth Harmony shows up. In an American culture where hyperbole has become the norm and outsized reactions for no discernible reason is commonplace, his utter joy at meeting those women is palpable and genuine. He's not reacting to react or for any other reason than he's truly excited and happy. Just love it.

Just watched James’ Final Carpool Karaoke w/his Bestie, Adele…Sooo emotional 😢… the singing, stories, etc…enjoyed watching them together…(C.K. #1 w/ Adele is in my top 7 for sure!)
I used to be obsessed with James hosting the Late-Late show and then when CARPOOL KARAOKE was a thing 😱…I lived for each new one ❤️🔥…So, now after watching the Final C.K. w/Adele, I’ve jumped down the rabbit hole and have been bingeing on C.K.’s that I’ve never seen and rewatching my favorites; that said, As I scrolled through the video list-I’m pretty positive that THIS -Sam Smith- Carpool Karaoke, is my #1 Favorite of all time 🥰❤️🔥❤️🔥💪🏻…their singing and harmonizing is superb 🔥…and not knowing Sam, other than a few of his songs-This video had me loving him!!! 🥰…He’s sincere, hilarious…Just a great C.K. from beginning to end; and IMO Only-Sam’s Current songs (Yes, they have a great beat-love a song I can dance to; and of course his voice is amazing) The videos are 😳🫣…(Yes, amazing costumes, set design, all the right bells and whistles) I’m just confused how the Sam in THIS video became the, ‘everything sexual’ Sam in his music and videos 2023🤔…Not really an upgrade-seems like the music and the content are reversed…I think 🤔 it’s his voice, his new stuff seems not to be at the level of his voice-range-emotion…Idk

Sam has the most gorgeous falsetto and low register! My fav is the duet “Party of One”… ughhhhh it slays me.. vocal masterpiece! Kaftans (spelling!?) are BOMB!! 😂😂 I just can’t with these two, James cracks me up and he has some serious chops too!!
You can tell Corden actually listens to Sam Smith a lot. It's like he brought in the harmonies he always sings when he sings along with these songs. Their voices blend so well together. This one was really special.

These are, of course, funny and entertaining and whatnot, but what I love the most about Carpool Karaoke is that James just loves music and singing so wholeheartedly that he can literally *belt* with sam or adele or lizzo or gaga and it's wholesome and wonderful and not cringey at *all*. Obviously he is a genuinely good singer too but it takes so much confidence and passion and skill to do what he does well enough for it to not be mortifying for everyone involved.
Let's just appreciate how hard James works to memorize all the songs

Came to watch this again. I've been a fan of Sam since 2014, this wednesday I saw them live for the first time as they came to my country Peru. I cried. They actually looked at me and said hi and that means so much to me. Sam got so emotional considering Peru is one of the few concerts in this tour that's just for them, as they're mainly playing festivals, and they got very emotional because of how much we wanted them here, and how we sang from beginning to end. the concer even though it wasn't huge was completely packed. We sang every single song, word for word and Sam got teary eyed.

He’s played a singer in film (‘Begin Again’), won a Tony for a musical role, sung as host of the Tonys , & by now so many of the world’s most renowned singers have eyeballed him in that car, impressed at his vocals, that I feel like u’d hav to be living under a rock to not recognise his musical talent at this point 😅
