  • I don't see many of these cars on the road, probably because people don't know about some of these common problems! I hope this short video helps.

    I drive a 6-speed manual b6. Timing belt is a common maintenance on every car, taking care of it when the manual tells you to is the best way to resolve future issues. If you change your timing belt, change the water pump and gaskets/seals, bearings, tensioner, accessory drive belt, and lastly change your coolant as well. I do agree that the cooling flange does leak, make sure you install the OEM version, lasts longer. I don't have the auxiliary brake booster pump on mine, not sure if only automatic b6 versions have them, don't have that problem. The window regulator on driver side tends to go out. Every car is different, it also depends who the owner is or was and how they took care of maintenance on the Audi that you drive today. I have owned my Audi for 15 years now, its a daily, I love it.

      Lmao i got water pump, timing belt and driver side window regulator replaced today. The water pump was leaking.

      That’s so stupid to say oem is stronger than aftermarket when aftermarket is designed to handle high horsepower. Me and my co worker said the same thing today we aren’t replacing any parts with lesser quality only BETTER than oem so the same issue doesn’t happen easily. Common sense.

    Hi, I have the same engine, but mine is super damp. I also have a disgusting clacking noise in the engine with misfiring. I can explain the misfiring very well with a defective ignition coil (there is definitely a defective one), but is that also the cause of the clacking?

    • @stuiesgarage

    • @MartinJones123
      @MartinJones123 Před rokem +2

      @@stuiesgarage Yep, I've heard of that combo on the B7, but the B8 turned into a chain only engine (on the 1.8T, 2.0T used chain and belt I think) which I prefer as you don't have to worry about the belt failing, and replacement will be quite expensive most likely as it's a VW/Audi product...

    on hard acceleration do you ever experience an engine vibration? Not the CV axels, not engine mounts, maybe tranny mount? does not vibrate when parked only acceleration and more pronounced on hard accelerations. Cars drives perfectly fine its just annoying. thanks

    • @lukeparker1638
      @lukeparker1638 Před 6 měsíci

      yes it was the rear transmission mount. Was told visually it looked "fine" at the shop but the vibration was driving me nuts.So went out on a limb and bought a new one about 35 bucks (not audi brand was to overpriced) installed and the vibration vanished. @@simracingchannel7691

    • @DrStrange1000
      @DrStrange1000 Před 6 měsíci

      I have a highly modified B6 cabriolet quattro. 1.8t. To reduce engine vibration get yourself a 'Snub' mount. It's a large circular piece of silicone that marries up your engine with the body I believe. It was a game changer for me.

    • @lukeparker1638
      @lukeparker1638 Před 6 měsíci

      Hey thanks for the reply, I replaced all of the engine mounts including the snub (typically they are yellow, cream or orange for those looking) first to try and isolated engine from transmission. They needed changing anyways. Then had to locate the correct transmission mount which ultimately was the issue. Thanks for the input! @@DrStrange1000
