  • @charlescastleberry9063

    I don’t know if you mounted the pump to the bracket first or what, we are having problems with the pulley not lining up with the rest of the pulleys so it keeps shredding the belt, so idk what is wrong but it seems to be the correct pump, if I’m not mistaken

      Heat the circumference of the bore that slides on the shaft. The bore will expand and slide on the shaft. Makes sure you use lube.

    is there any way to bleed all the power steering fluid out of the system, I got a little bit of water in my power steering, drove it for a day now it's slowing my engine down when I accelerate, I used a turkey baster and sucked as much power steering fluid as I could and replaced it.

    • @fixingcarsandstuff
      @fixingcarsandstuff  Před 8 lety +1

      +Heinrich Well without a exchange machine, you can take off the return hose and run that into a bucket. Plug the other end at the reservoir. Have 2-4 quarts handy and ready to poor in the reservoir, have someone start the car and you add fluid to the reservoir and they can turn the steering wheel back and forth, fluid will go through the system and come out the return hose into your bucket. Not sure that a little water in the power steering fluid would cause your problem though.

  • @FranklinNewhart
    @FranklinNewhart Před 9 lety +10

    This Video should show that there is also a nut at the back that needs to be removed and the fact that you sometimes have to take the whole bracket off just to get the pump out of the hole. It also does not show that sometimes the pulley can be less than co-operative even with the correct tool and that when putting the pulley back on it has to be flush with the end of the shaft to be in the correct position. There are far more than just a few of us that would love to murder a GM Design Engineer or three over this particular problem. Or even worse, make them go over to Chrysler and work there for the rest of their working carrier.

      Franklin is right on all counts. I am a little confused why his comment upset you? It is not often they come apart as nicely as the video, but it does show the necessary steps. I have destroyed a few pullers and at least one installer getting the pulley off, and back on. It is on my bucket list to get to slap an engineer before I die.
