I wanted to try out wireless earbuds and decided as a lover of Apple to try the AirPods Pro. I was so disappointed when they came in the mail and ended up being fakes! I wanted to share my experience with you so you can learn how to spot a fake and not deal with the frustration of getting a fake product. I'm very happy with the REAL AirPods Pro. I've been able to listen to many more audiobooks and podcasts than I would have with wired earbuds. Story: I got a thing in the mail a few years ago saying that if you go to your local car dealership, you have a chance to win a ton of different things (TVs, AirPods, etc.) through a scratch off. No purchase necessary. It was at a point in time where AirPods were something I really wanted, so I decided why not, I'll do it. I ended up having to drive 40 minutes to get there, but I "won" the AirPods. Apparently, they had just "run out" of AirPods, and asked me to come back the next day. It was for free AirPods, so I decided to do it. 40 minute drive there and back. I went back the next day, got my free AirPods, and left. After I got home, I realized they were fake. I looked up the "brand" online, and they go for $7 at walmart. The AirPods don't even have the capability to connect to your bluetooth device at the same time. You have to choose one ear or the other.
Oh no! That's the worst! Did the dealership advertise it as legit Apple AirPods? Or did they acknowledge it was off-brand AirPods?

I can’t tell if mine are fake because the only thing that is different than everything else is the darkness of the L and R but yet everything else is good and my friend who has AirPods from apple that he bought are also the exact same in the darkness of the letters?

Thanks Professor Noslen! It was content like my video that helped me realize that it was a possibility and that it was a fake. I was surprised at how close the fake were to the real ones. One of the first things I noticed was that I had to manually connect and disconnect the Bluetooth device from one Apple device to another. If you’re buying second hand I would recognize that getting a fake can be common so I recommend using some buyer protection so you have time to evaluate the product. Hope this helps friend 🙌

I don't know why people just don't buy directly from Apple. I've heard of clones and fakes from Authorized Dealers, too. Always buy directly from Apple.

I bought a pair of Airpod pros off of offer up and and I was skeptical just because of the deal I got on them, they were brand new and the serial code matches in my settings, on the box, inside the charging case, and on both pods. Is there any chance they can be fake ?

Hey John! I’m so sorry for the delay. I just realized I didn’t get back to you. Like the other channel fam said, unfortunately, the serial number doesn’t indicate a real product. I would go through and check the things I found to discover the difference between the real and fake. Have you been able to make any progress since posting?

Exactly these are 2 best ways that I don’t see CZcamsrs have mentioned, I have figured all these out after got into to the same situation ; just in addition , it is interesting that the weight of the charger ( with EarPods inside ) is same as apple BUT each part has different weight but total same , if you know what I mean . Anyways it’s weird how the Chinese companies make the high copy very fast it’s like mafia ; I lost some money which is not considerable for me( if it wasn’t why wouldn’t you buy from Apple store) but I learned what’s going on ; as my story I looked at the guy eyes and asked him about the AirPod authenticity and he said I swear to my balls that this AirPod is origin and I bought it
i just bought airpods pro 2 from walmart physical stores what are chances they are fakes got those for $199 ! or what are the chances they are refurbishes ( they sold them under new product category tho) !
If you bought them new from Walmart, I would trust that you have a genuine product unless you have clear signs it’s not. Has anything acted weird so far?
Did you buy it in Walmart or on their website? I do believe Walmart has 3rd party sellers which might be a cause for concern, but if it was in store, personally I would think it would be legit.

@@pauldittus I saw your video and I could say yes to a couple of thinks
- the box case was made with plastic not cardboard
- the green light did not have the special orb
-the case made a ratle sound when shaking the case
-seamless connectivity between my Mac and Iphone did not work
so I called apple and they could tell me that my serial number was used a lot and that they had multiple tickets on that serial number, so the chance that mine was the original was highly unlikely. Its so hard to spot because the ear pieces was in find my but the case was not. The noise canceling was also working and I could look them up in the Iphone setting and see warranty date and serial number. The placement of the barcode you mentioned was also in the correct place and the colours of the serial number text also looked correct. I ended up contacting the seller which lived 15min away and got my money back

What about battery timing?
Great question friend. I unfortunately didn’t test it long enough to find out. The fake ones initially at least appeared to have a longer battery life, but I’m not sure how it would hold up long term.

@@pauldittus fortunately I know the person. They didn’t even know they had it fake one. I unfortunately sent it to apple thinking it was defective. It’s all bad.

Well I bought some at 25$ outside the us and they do absolutely everything that the real ones do they even have a Apple warranty even the adhesive is the same

Hey quick update here, some clones have updated the packaging around the AirPods case to have the pull tab with the line on it and to look way less cheaper, they have also replicated all the functions and whatnot. But the box quality is still a give away of how cheap the packaging is and still gives away they are fakes. But for the rest, stickers, fonts, etc, they are getting scarily close to the real ones.

I have noticed these changes because a lot of marketplaces are full of fakes like these sold as legitimate, and seeing how close they are getting to real ones this is a real problem. @@pauldittus oh yeah, something else I noticed, some clones have started using cardboard for holding the AirPods case in the box instead of plastic, so beware of that, as some clones don’t have the fault on using plastic instead of cardboard anymore. Thanks to that, there is even better copies out there. Make sure to check the box quality still, that probably hasn’t changed a bit. Glad to help and provide support. Thanks to you as well to providing tips on how to avoid getting scammed, it’s getting more common each day. (not that I am surprised, seeing how close they look to originals and how they cost half or less than the originals, which are honestly a tiny bit overpriced).

Its serial number is helpful for real and fake separate
In my experience, unfortunately, the serial number wasn't a good indicator as they used a real serial number on the fake ones. When I looked up the serial number, it appeared to be real while the other signs shown in the video were showing it to be a fake one.

Already had a pair of automatic AirPod pro 2 purchased from Apple and decided I wanted another pair took a chance on EBay and new unopened box found a pair and did a side by side and yes thankfully they were authentic.If you dont already own authentic pair find a friend or someone who does have a guaranteed authentic pair to do a side by side comparison is the best advice I can give

Unfortunately, they copy real serial #s onto fake AirPods. That’s what happened to mine as well.
Man, I ordered Apple Airpods pro 2nd gen from amazon and got fake product in the box there is 1st gen airpods pro copy and no buds and paperwork and no charging cable

I just got some in today. I got suspicious when they wouldn’t transfer between iPad and iPhone. Thanks to your video I discovered they were fake. Pretty much everything mirrored the real deal but the find my and on the apple registered devices it didn’t show. It wouldn’t respond to find my also. I will say they are very convincing otherwise. If I hadn’t owned several pairs over the year I would been fooled for sure. Fake are decent but definitely not AirPods. They are a little base heavy. Static sound like you said is very noticeable

@@pauldittus Update. Me being the impatient person ( after waiting a week for fakes) paid extra for delivery today from store. Comparing the differences one right off the bat was packaging. Real apple pull table ripped smooth and on the lines, the fake ones didn’t,they ripped at odd angles and were sticky clearing away. Next is moving from iPhone to iPad seamlessly. The text on the box like you said. Definitely noticeable. Opening the box the wrapping around the pods was heavier and thicker. The menu options definitely give at away too,adaptive transparency wasn’t there on fakes. Nether was enable charging sound,optimized battery charging, find my network and disconnect options were missing from fakes. Sound is noticeably better!!

To not being able to tell which is real or fake then I’d rather buy fake if the difference isn’t that much, I use them just for music. Calls work good on my fakes too. Why pay $200+ when you can have them for just $30 bucks and last years !

Great question. Unfortunately, they copy real serial numbers onto fake devices so it won’t necessarily be helpful. Do you have AirPods that could be fakes?

@@evanlopez717 if they’re the AirPods Pro, you should be able to follow along with this video and get a pretty good idea of they’re fake or not. One thing you could try is pairing them and trying to switch devices if you have multiple Apple devices.
@@pauldittus I have a Fake set just now, they’ve Really upped their game, all the Cosmetic differences you mentioned have been fixed, also these come up with a 1 year Apple Warranty and when you pair them with your iPhone they now also give you a 6 Months Free Apple Music subscription! That alone here in the UK is worth £9.99 per month, the AirPods cost me £11 plus shipping (as I purchased direct from the factory where they’re made) they worked out £15 all in and you would Really struggle to tell the difference between these and fakes! The Packaging, Adhesive, Plastic around the AirPodscase itself has the line, stickers on the packaging are Spot on 2 separate stickers! And they also move from device to device, also have GPS for ‘Find My AirPods’ The forward/next song and Hey Siri buttons, you Do have to press them a bit, I did have a set when they first came out and the were Very sensitive!
Only thing I have found through extensive testing is that ‘Transparency Hearing’ just doesn’t work as it should, you either only hear a Little bit of noise or a bit of Hiss, but SO many people won’t even use this! ANC (active noise cancelling) Does cut out All sound, I honestly think you’d struggle to tell these were fakes, Sorry, 1:1 ‘Superclones’ 😂 But please if you can test Transparency Hearing, I’d like to know how Good it is on the Genuine ones and what the Fakes are like! Alas, they’ll have that Sussed and rectified Very Soon I think then you’ll not be able to tell the difference! Also mics have improved, I video’d myself using these and the sound was Perfectly Clear, on calls too also 👍🏻 Keep up the good work Sir, I’m Subscribed 😉👌🏻

Apple is definitely more expensive than other options out there. I think it's the ecosystem that makes the difference not necessarily the quality of the device. Their computers are definitely a lot more expensive than the PC equivalent. It's when you have multiple devices in the same ecosystem that the true power is shown. That said, I've definitely had a hard time justifying the high prices of the Apple. Especially their phones. I only recently adapted iPhone. I'm a big fan of Google's Pixel for price, features, and performance. Do you have a preferred ecosystem or earbuds? Thanks for sharing your thoughts friend.

@@pauldittus Bluetooth menu go to the AirPods click the blue icon. The latest version update number is 4C165. If you see anything with letter A it’s fake.

Hello friend! Unfortunately, the fake ones I had take real serial numbers so it isn’t possible to tell based on the serial number on the product alone. If a fake one was missing it, then I would imagine that is the case.

@@pauldittus hey so I got them for Christmas but everything els in the box is real but I jus have a Plastic case I check my settings and i haves the same number you have for the real ones I have good 3d printing and everything same thing with the box on the air pods but sometimes when I have the AirPods in the case it still haves them connected and they ack up a lot and also When I open them it’s smooth but jus haves a little squeak to it but I’m really jus trying to find out if there real or not cause it’s like there real and fake at the same time

Very helpful. I just bought a pair online from kohl’s and I wasn’t sure if they were real or fake but they matched up perfectly to the real ones shown in the video so I’m about 99% confident that they are real

That’s why I recommend buying with buyer protection so if you do end up with a fake you should be able to get your money back like I did.

The way to prevent being deceived is to buy fake AirPods Pro, because I know it is a fake but its function and quality are the same as the real one, so I chose him
I personally liked the real ones better, but you are right. If you go in being open to getting fakes there are many options available for less.
Fake real ones kinda bs argument companys(manufacturers)offer same shit even better u can grab the airoha chip set which has the same features as the h1 an w1 chips they got really good at replicating them just gotta know which seller you're buying from
I was definitely impressed by how close the fake ones get. Personally I was able to tell a difference with the one I tested, but for some that might be exactly what they’re looking for at a cheaper price. Personally, I have a problem with people deceiving others into believing a product is real or simply replicating another company’s work. That said, you are correct that they’re surprisingly close.

Next time you do this again (comparing products) make sure to focus the camera to both products not to your face…. i mean like do the birds eye view/ top view of the products for us to see the products and compare them,, Most of the time all I can see is your face, Maybe thats why your view is not getting higher.
