    In terms of product design this feels like the first prototype that’s created to test if the material works at all. Which it does. Now they need to refine it. Create something that’ll hold the stamper and have a mechanism that’ll help someone push on it to uniformly stretch it so it’s not wonky. And it should be clear!!! This seems so obvious why didn’t they do thi

      The clear stamper isn’t squishy enough to be used as a shrinking stamper. That’s why they sell both stampers. It has to do with its material makeup that makes it clear. It keeps it unable to stretch as much without ripping. It would be great if they created a new material that is clear and able to stretch. Fingers crossed!

    • @letticiasmith5303
      @letticiasmith5303 Před 3 lety +3

      I've heard that the clear stampers aren't stretchy enough to use that way. They tend to tear more easily when stretched. So, I would suggest using one that you aren't worried about destroying.

  • @jentownsend9497
    @jentownsend9497 Před 3 lety +9

    I have a few thoughts to share regarding the shrinking stamper system.
    First, rather than stamping down on the nail, try to hold the stamper with the stamp facing up and place your nail over the stamp rather than vice versa. It’s a lot easier to line your nail up over the stamp. It’s still tricky to get things *perfectly* lined up, but it’s waaay easier to end up with something successful than stamping blind from above.
    Second, I had the same idea about using the clear stamper as the shrinking piece of the equation and did EXACTLY WHAT YOU PREDICTED... ACK! Ripped my stamper. Boo!
    Third, I wish this system came with some kind of clear plastic ring that you could push down over the sticky stamper and stretch the sticky stamper evenly to avoid the wonky unevenly shrunken stamp. I may try to McGuyver something. If I get anywhere, I’ll report back.
    Thanks as always for your excellent videos. Your nail polish application and the production quality of your videos is by far the best of any I’ve come across. It’s really a pleasure to watch you work!

      It’s super fun and it makes so many images usable in a way they wouldn’t be otherwise, just have to be okay with a bunch of attempts. I love your idea of making them into decals for more precise placement. Do you trim your decals before applying them? I always get ugly bumps, bubbles, and ripples along the edges when I make decals. Or do you make the decals large enough to cover the whole nail?

I know it sounds strange but it fits my large marshmallow stamper head perfectly! I also have a baby bottle lid with the nipple removed that fits my Maniology double sided neon shrinking stamper. I wish I could post a picture or video to show you. They both work really well to evenly stretch the stamper heads. Just be carful not to press too hard. I’m sure it could do some damage.

For shrinking the images I just hold the stamper, upside down, pinch the edges together with both hands and stamp the image directly. You decrease the issue of the image drying on the clear stamper before you can shrink it. I actually DM'd you my Beetlejuice nails on Insta, where all the images have been shrunk cause I have small nails too. The only tip I have for stamping with an opaque stamper is just lots of practice and rolling that image. Hope this helps!

    What an interesting way to shrink the design! I've always just held the squishy stamper head and used both pointer fingers and thumbs to stretch the stamper. I'll have to try the hack of putting it on a polish bottle!
    Also, here's some tips:
    The decal option is the easiest way to do this with super detailed designs.
    When trying to apply from opaque stamper it is easier to line up the design beside your nail and roll it on, it would be so much easier if you can hold your finger and stamper up to your face while doing it. But I imagine that would be an awkward camera angle for you 😂
    Some fine details can be lost when trying to stamp so that's important to keep in mind when picking a design.

    This works great, but double stampers have existed for years. In fact I have one where both stampers are clear, but I honestly just use the technique where you stretch the stamper back (kinda like you did the yellow) before picking up on an image. It works pretty well with practice, and skips a step.

    So a helpful tip is after you transfer the image to the yellow stamper take a regular clear top coat after it dries and gently cover the image. Once it dries than you can peel it off to make a decal, you can also fill it in to make a reserve decal. 🙂 Apply a sticky base coat to you nail allow to dry for about 45 secs until tacky and then apply the decal. Hope this works! 👍🏻 Great video, you've got patience.

    Smart vid, maybe a ring or a short tube to resize the stamper as you push it through would be better than your hand for an undistorted print. Kelli, I think you need a 3D printer to print the perfect shrinking adapter, so you could use it without the first stamper.
    Ok that would be an exaggerated action, but you would have a resizing stamper for it and would save time. (Not counting the development time for the adapter.) 🤓😅💜

  • @MsxGini

    One option would be to just use the shrinking stamper directly for the whole stamping instead of using the clear stamper in the beginning. Less steps=quicker! But then you have to use the squished shrinking stamper to get the image from the plate which it might need some practise. Also instead of sticky base coat you could use foil transfer glue to get the image to stick to the nail :)

    I think a couple years ago I saw people using their regular stampers, pulling them back, and using that to pick up an image off a stamping plate. That way you eliminate the extra step of transferring the image from one stamper to another. Maybe that technique would work for this stamper.

    The concept of a shrinker is so cool. Seems simple, but ends up being a bit complicated lol. I wonder if the technology will progress in the future. Like maybe someone will develop a clear version maybe a clear one with a tint to differentiate between that and the regular one? Also there must be a way to make some sort of device to stretch the rubber stamp pad evenly to avoid the image getting warped. Also would it be possible to go in reverse and expand an image? There are so many experiments to be done.

    This pull the stamper back technique is one I used back in the day. Not ideal, but you don't need to buy a special stamper to do this. It will work with any soft squishy stamper. If it dries too quickly just use a sticky base coat on the nail you are stamping. No need to transfer to 4 or 5 different stampers unless it is words or #'s you need to mirror.
