  • In this video coach Lois Peake explains how to return those tricky left handed serves.
Many right handed players struggle with serves which cut across their forehand side of the table. These are the serves often used by left handed players. What is the best way of returning these serves?
Lois gives some simple tips which make it much easier to return left handed serves. She gets me to try out her tips and I have instant success. If I can do it, then you can too!
Lois has represented England and the junior and senior level. She has also coached at a high level, and crucially for this video, is a left-handed player!
In the video, Lois is using this equipment:
Blade: JOOLA Santoru KL-C Outer bribartt.co.uk/product/joola-...
Rubber (both forehand and backhand): JOOLA Dynaryz AGR bribartt.co.uk/product/joola-...

I think this advice can be very useful when you play doubles as you return from this position. Thank you, Tom. By the way, I love your book, I go through it often, especially the day before a match and always find something to bear in mind! Greetings from Spain!🤩😍

In the same way as righty's serves if you are lefty 😂. I often receive with BH flick on FH side but I wish my FH flick was more reliable

Hi, what about when the same leftie pendulum serve is placed long and wide? Makes it a bit harder to move in with a BH

She does the normal Pendulum as leftie, its the same when a right-handed player does a Reverse Pendulum or a Backhand Serve from his wide forehand.
I dont think her advice is that great thou:
    - first she says u should flick it with FH, well thats only coz she doesnt really vary her spin and is not putting that much underspin in it, else its really hard and risky to flick that.
    - second she says u should recieve it with ur BH, yes the spin is easier to counter when u dont have a loose wrist to do it with ur FH then but stepping around makes u really vulnerable and it only works coz shes very small and doesnt FH flick that relatively weak return push to ur open BH, which is what a normal FH flick for a leftie would do automatically, so if ur return pops up just slightly against a strong leftie ur chanceless to get that diagonal flick/smash
