We had a night-shift manager who, to demonstrate his power, would go around blocking all the fire exits before he went home in the morning. We also had a Health and Safety rep who was so far up managements arses he would do nothing about it.
Just send an anonymus report to the local fire department. The problem will solve itself quickly.

I’ve kind of kissed ass before. My boss wanted someone to stay on for another two hours, he asked me. I was going to say no, but he said I’d get an extra £15 on top of those two hours extra wages. So till I left, he knew if he bribed me, I’d likely say yes.

Malcolm Gladwell talks in his book 'Outliers' about how butt kissing your superiors is a general requirement in nations like Korea, which was why Korean Airlines had a horrible habit of its planes crashing mid-flight. The entire crew was expected to buy the pilot presents from the airport gift shops at every stop, but co-pilots simply wouldn't dream of correcting the head pilot if he was making fatigue-induced errors, which was another problem of its own at the time. I forget which airline was brought on to consult on the issue, and the end result was a massive company culture shift at every level of Korean Airlines, and now they don't constantly fly their planes into the sides of mountains anymore. Gladwell also discussed a case where a crew from South America (Venezuela? Ecuador? I'm pretty sure?) also crashed because they were intimidated by the NYC air traffic controller's blunt and assertive tone. They fell right out of the sky because they didn't feel like it was their place to ask for a refuel, all because of the traffic controller's tone of voice. So its not just office culture that gets ruined with butt kissing - it's ALL cultures.
I'm a manager and treat my co-workers how I would want to be treated (I worked my way up to the position) and so far everyone is happy.. we got this new person... Major ass kisser and I told her, in the most professional way, to knock her shit off or else she is gone. She wasn't doing her job right and I gave her grace due to her age, but I'm fed up and hopefully she uses the time she spends trying to suck up to me, to ACTUALLY do her job correctly.

Aint nothing wrong with brown nosing if it means you make more money. I could care less about what my coworkers think. They dont pay my bills. I show respect to them and treat them fairly but if i have to suck up to my boss to have more perks? Bring it on!
