I have a couple of stories, neither of which are waking up weeks or months later in the hospital, but rather the same day or the day after the accident; both times were rather surprising at the time anyway. Back when I was 12, my brother (16) and I wanted to go sledding, we'd heard that some of our neighbors who had gone on vacation, had a nice hill in their backyard perfect for sledding/snow-tubing; so, we went out a few of our friends joined us and we went sledding/snow-tubing, we got a few good runs in, then midway through I went down on my snow-tube and slowly started spinning on the way down, I was going at a decent speed for a snow-tube probably 5MPH, eventually I get spun 180 degrees and am facing backwards, I don't see the tree, but I really felt it when I wacked the back of my head against it; apparently it knocked me right out, although I vaguely remember being conscious for a few seconds after the hit, but next thing I know 8-12 hours later, I'm not really sure it was probably longer, I'm waking up in the hospital and of course my parents are there, my brother is there too, apparently he'd performed CPR while our friends called our parents and an ambulance. I thought, incorrectly that I had suffered a light bump and just walked it off only to faceplant in the snow, I was wrong, but quite lucky. When I was 22, I had taken my bike out for a ride to visit a friend, on my way back home, I decided to take a route that went down a rather steep hill, it was also the fastest route I knew of partly because the hill gave cyclists extra speed from gravity; stupidly I had left my helmet at home, thinking "It's just going to be a relatively short trip and I won't be passing through many areas of heavy traffic", as I'm going down the hill I pick up a lot of speed, I'm also riding on the sidewalk mostly to avoid having to deal with cars, as I get to halfway down the slope a Jeep pulls out of seemingly nowhere right into my path, I didn't have enough time to react to hit the brakes or turn, I only had enough time to think to myself "SHIT!", and I plowed straight into the passenger side door of the Jeep. My bike apparently acted a bit like a catapult launching me upward and forward, straight through the passenger side window shattering it partially lacerating my face, and doubtlessly scaring the crap out of the driver; an ambulance was dispatched to the scene, I later awoke at Mass General Hospital in Boston around 8 or 9 PM, I learned that due to how cut up my face was that the doctors of my hometown hospital were worried about head trauma, so I was airlifted via helicopter to a hospital more suited to dealing with my injuries, I also vaguely remember being slightly lucid in the first ambulance, but I must have passed out for or before the helicopter ride; once again I was very lucky, most of my cuts had been superficial, and the worst I suffered was a few bruises to my upper torso.

My niece has a huge problem with this, ever since she was a teenager. She'd have the tango, regret it afterwards, and accuse them of nonconsensual tangos. She has never actually gone to the police about it, because she knows they'll see through her, but she still tells everyone and tries to ruin the guy's reputation. People have stopped believing her after the 4th time it happened in a row, twice with the same guy. I've tried telling her to stop, but it's never worked. I worry someday she's going to actually get nonconsensual tangoed but no one will believe her because of her past lies, leaving her with no support.

While in many ways the 21st century has been a harbinger for all sorts of destruction and suffering. We are lucky that our descendants will have lots of first hand accounts of such events happening. For 1000s of years very few people could write so if something happened there may be only a couple perspectives or nothing at all.

I grew up in the 90s with the "men are stoopid" trope. It was clear to me that it's just fun and games and not meant to be serious. I went on a school trip where we were camping outside for several days. They had portable toilets, and every day they smelled progressively worse. On the last day I went into one and immediately started dry heaving as the smell of 4-day-old urine, faeces and period hit me and decided I could wait until I got home. I work as an online live video call sales man for a very high profile company listed in the Forbes 100. What I'm supposed to do is I make sales via video call where customers can reach us via website. But most of the time I just lay on my chair waiting for a video call to come in. I probably only get 0 to 2 calls a day with each call lasting 10 to 20 minutes. I earn well over 80k a year doing almost practically nothing.

I did. It’s very traumatic. Instinct will kick in and you will do whatever u need to do. The aftermath can be very tough with ptsd being very real I found out. This was someone I love so idk if it would have such trauma effects after if it was a stranger

The last story really gets to me because, well, it’s how I live, too. I think it’s a very simple answer: control. I have grown up in a household where keeping a lot of stuff and not cleaning regularly is normal. I now am a young adult and starting to build my life independently. I am trying to break my bad habits and I have begun to really care about tidiness in the workplace. It’s a place where objects don’t hold emotional importance and where cleaning supplies are easily accessible; overall, the space feels so manageable. When I clean up at work, I feel confident and in control. When I clean up at home, I feel emotionally drained and overwhelmed. I am only hopeful that my habits at work can help build the same habits at home. So far, things have been getting better little by little so, thankfully, I feel hopeful.

My late husband worked at a hotel and the owner constantly tried to " cut corners" by not paying work mans comp,social security or changing numbers on the night audit to make it " look" like the restaurant that was inside the place made more profit than it actually did. He refused to do this and the owner looked like a dumbfounded pikkachu after he explained to him that doing that is illegal..oh and mister Boss also threw a fit when trash service,laundry or elevator maintance didn't get done because those businesses wanted to get paid and he kept bouncing checks... Every 3 months he ran off to his native country India because the IRS had some questions for him....He wasn't sucessful so he had to borrow from his wealthy family 😂 Every time you think you failed at life,think about this dude who had two PHD's....one in pharmacology one in Vetinary medicine, owned several hotel and still couldn't hack it and had to borrow from family.
