This is such an old video but exactly what I needed. I got so confused by the straps and felt like a moron. So simple after watching the video but I was completely clueless. Thank you!

I just replaced the straps on my toe clips. The rust on the clips did them in. I managed to put them on wrong in several different ways and then I found your video. Doh!! Thank you, thank you for your fine video!!!

Been having real problems getting my foot in on the move turns out my lbs had set the strap up wrong with a double U bend round the spring changed it up and it works perfect

I only tighten my straps initially and leave them just tight enough to slip my feet in and out easily without having to loosen them. Clip in pedals are not practical for my rides but toe clips are more efficient than flats. Toe clips are a great compromise.

Wow! I just got a stationary pooboo bike and this video made it so easy to install the little things. I swear to God it took me less than 10 seconds.

Thanks i had to remove the straps on my pedals to give my bike a good cleaning and couldn't remember how to put them back on. Saved me from frustration trying to figure it out.

Takes getting a little use to-I've been using toe clips since the early 90;s and have never been foot trapped on or off road-Though I must admit, I don't ride any real technical off road trails anymore but I still commute sever miles a month. riding - you get use to adjusting straps appropriately-of course now I'll probably get a foot stuck tomorrow and keel over at a stop light :-)!

Feels different. Straps feel like ur foot is bound with any shoe. But with clips it feels like ur stuck on glue and dosnt feel good with a loose shoe.
Man I remembered those days dealing with toe traps, at least that's what we called them on Jamaica when I was a cyclist

Still wondering what the second hole in the strap is for, next to teethed one. Not the one at the end where you can put the strap through to make it look nice, but in between.
how to prevent foot scratches using that toe cage?because I am wearing slippers here in our subdivision and I have a fixed gear and it has a toe cage...I don't want to have scratches from that toecage...

If your bike pedals don't support toe clips and straps, then do you have to replace them with ones that do?
@elec73rd why straps, when they get dirty, its harder to clean them and they will lose the effect...

I can understand that. Start with the strap real loose. Have a shoe with a smooth rubber bottom. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

Isn’t the idea behind the straps that if you pull them one way, they tighten around your foot, but if you pull them the other way, they loosen?

my pedal can work for toe clip and it work for strap as well
Key word "could" Those pedals come with some lite lube on them, you can't see it on the vid. THX for the comment

From experience you spend what seems an hour desperately trying to get your foot free, at the same time you will be heading towards the ground...what ever you do wear mitts, clip-less is the way to go really...you can still end up eating dirt but I found it safer ...
Might need a crank arm too. Shoot a vid with that fancy phone you got and we will reply with our fancy phone. I want to see how badly buggered the threads are..

So what happens when you need to stop quick @ put your foot down? Your "strapped" to the bike. It sounds like a recipient for a fall over. I just got pedals w/ Toe Clips & Straps and I'm hesitant to use the strap.
He didn't grease the pedal axle! That could cause some heartbreak down the line.
Maybe you shoulda just try and ride those Toe Clips and see what happens. Sometimes, its better to go out and try things rather than ask around whether its safe to use them or not. They've been around for years, and nobody seem to be filing some suit against anyone right?

bike racers used these pedals before clipless were invented, and guess what, they could ride their bikes. Never understood why too much drama around this
agreed, and even if the finish is crap and they rust a little, that's what they invented wd-40 for! lol
If you ride a left drive bike you should know what you are doing.
