I got my first edge hog in 1999. It lasted up until last week, when finally the motor started smoking cutting some thick wet grass. I'm glad they are still making them and this one looks much improved with improvements automatically erasing mud clog and more powerful motor. The first one needed new start switch at least twice about every 7 years. I used it at least 15-20 times per year.

I have both this Edge Hog and the Black & Decker Grass Hog string trimmer (GH900). I haven’t used the Edge Hog in several years, because the string trimmer works so much more efficiently for edging when I rotate it to the vertical position and use the built-in wheel to move it along the concrete edge. Lighter and easier to maneuver as well. I’d probably need the Edge Hog for trench digging, but I almost never do that.

Hi, I'm glad you get your new electric edger. I believe it is very important tool in the DIYers house. I used to use weed-eater trimmer to do my yard edging and I have to do it every time I cut my lawn because all it does is cuts the grass edge without digging deep to make the gap between the lawn yard and the concrete pavement edge. I'm using my edger every month now just to re-dig the edge and clean the gap also trim the grass edge nicer than the weed-eater trimmer. Good luck
