I'm a boat builder. Don't know you but I agree with everything you've covered. That being said I'm putting GG on my personal boat to save the 300lbs of poly. I only heard of k5 today.
Thanks, I have a 1983 wooldridge Alaskan 21'. It is built pretty heavy and I am debating this exact thing. Do you think that my boat is built heavy enough to just add the uhmw or would it need reinforcement? also, how does that effect the intake for the inboard jet? does adding 3/4" plastic effect the water flow into the jet intake and need to have modifications made?
K5 is very dense. It is used on many of the jet boats that are running the skinny Susquehanna river in our area.

You probably want to blend in the transition point forward of the intake.
