for the first question, could you also be in an infinite amount of places just north of the south pole. travelling one mile west could mean you go around a small circle with a circumference of one mile and then you end up at the same spot. Could you also then do this where the circle has a circumference of half a mile, then a third and so on?

Imagine a sphere with a north and south pole. Walk down to the south pole from the north pole until you hit the equator. At the equator, walk west. Walk north, back to the north pole.
You are back at the original location because you are walking on the surface of a sphere (Earth, in this case).
