KSP - Chandra X-ray Observatory - Breaking Ground

- The Chandra X-ray Observatory, previously known as the Advanced X-ray Astrophysics Facility, was launched by the space shuttle Columbia on STS-93. Chandra is sensitive to X-ray sources 100 times fainter than any previous X-ray telescope.
I set myself a goal to try to make a video as fast as I used to be able to but with my current quality of content. I thought Chandra would be a good mission to try this out on as to be honest it was secondary on my list. I managed to make this video in only three evenings when it normally takes me a few days to make a video and some how I think I've manage to make a video that's almost as good as my main ones. This was helped by already having rebuilt the shuttle for the last mission but still let me know what you think.

Like this comment if you noticed the top of the telescope was clipped into the shuttle but you still loved it :)
I can't join your Discord Server. Can you pls send the invite again.

Your underated
If they would have shown stuff like this in school I would have tried to be an astronaut. Awesome job!
Chandra, Hubble, Kepler and Spitzer had lots of fun taking photos of the same thing
Now, it is the turn of their biggest brother: JAMES WEBB
Ultralagger R.E.V JAMES WEBB IS THICC BOIII
Especially Gemini.
Well,I can't imagine what you do with KSP2 when is out.Great job as always.
Can you make a Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway?
It is on the list ;)
Really beautiful work mate. As always.
Thanks Marcus :D
Often I forget that that you don't have a million subs, great video! You should do the JWST and LUVOIR.
Nice vid
Thanks mate :D
Incredible. Simply incredible! What I like most about your creations is the ingenuity and functionality they all have. Keep going! BTW: JWST!
Thank you very much :)
AMAZING!
I always love thes types of videos, Good Job!
Cheers :)
Super good vid the music and the telescope
Amazing video!
Thanks mate :)
You are underrated!
That's what makes it so satisfying ;)
@@GameplayReviewUK being underrated?

When the flight director at mission control said we have lost dcu a and dcu b, that was because a gold pin that was plugging a faulty hole in the injector plate of the center engine had come loose and tore through the side of the center engine bell. Columbia narrowly avoided catastrophe in this instance.
I think one more error and they would have probably all died, the payload was so heavy no abort procedure was deemed possible.
Tiny tip - I would use the dark variant of the nose cone in future shuttle videos that you may produce. Otherwise, thank you for teaching me about many various space missions I hadn't known about prior (Like this one) and keep up the effort that you put into these videos.
my god this movie is mega and will you continue the space telescope series
I planned to do about 6 and make them all first personal able but it can always be added to. I wasn't going to do them so soon but I thought they'd be the best ones for me to practice with Kdenlive.
Great!
Thanks :)
Always miss your videos I'm sad :(
An interesting fact that I read recently:
Apparently, Chandra and its IUS were so heavy that it would have been impossible to return to Earth safely with it onboard. This made aborting without damage basically impossible. Combined with the engine problems...
Was this from the NasaSpaceflight series on Chandra they just did? If not I recommend giving it a good read, it's so heavy that the one Shuttle they did not want to fly it on was Columbia, due to her being so heavy.
ISS program made their wish impossible
@@_Andrew2002 No, I read a book at the public library which had all the missions that Columbia did (including a pretty detailed analysis of its breakup D: ). Where did they do this on NASASpaceflight?
Also, the inability to abort may be the reason for people not wanting it on Columbia. Her weight seemed to be significantly higher than the others, even compared to Challenger's.
@@seansargeant7966 Hop to NASASpaceflight webstite and should be under Shuttle section or in the recent articles
How did you build that space shuttle?! It's flawless!
Nice
Cheers :)
Eyyyy
Are you excited for the new boosters coming in the next update?!
Looks good :)
HST, SST and CXO. Is CGRO next?
CGRO is on the short list but not totally sure yet.
When will be available to Download the craft? I looked in the Hubble video. And it says probably tomorrow. But nothing is there.
I still have one more thing on my agenda then I'll make the Breaking ground page for downloads.
Is there a download link for the shuttle? Every shuttle i make fails horribly! Greaat video though!!
There is on my Patreon page and it will be uploaded for everyone else within the next two days now I'm sure.
@@GameplayReviewUK Great man! Thanks for replying! You really deserve more subs!
Cheers :)
For your next vid can you do an Artemis program model?
It won't be next but it is on the list ;)
How can you keep a space shuttle stable in KSP
Easy, but to make it super easy have the large tank drain bottom to top and make sure the shuttle engines are positioned so they can gimbal through the change of centre of mass that takes place as the SRBs empty that's about it, I've also used reaction wheels but that is more to compensate for when the engines over compensate during SAS. This shuttle is a little different to that to in the sense that I've made this one so throttling the engines will effect pitch because I find that to be fun but to do this you want to be able to takeoff with about 50% thrust then slowly throttle up through ascent.
GameplayReviewUK my problems is that when launching any space shuttle, the solid rocket boosters causes the shuttle to spin and crash, the shuttle’s engines won’t engage they just shoot sparks and stop working. When the shuttle’s engines work and I want to separate the external fuel tank, the engines will stop receiving fuel to the shuttle’s main internal tanks causing it to stop flying
GameplayReviewUK another huge issue that is ocurring is this:
Me: *has a rocket on standby at the launch pad*
Me: *builds new rocket and recovers the one at the launchpad to launch the new rocket*
Game: *Loads new rocket*
...
Game: *REJECTS rocket and forces me to launch the rocket at the launch pad*
Me: *breaks controller*
When you spin do you do a back flip or a front flip? assuming back flip, so limit the thrust on the SRBs also make sure you don't need full throttle to take off. If required add more boosters, mine has 16 per SRB at around 70% (more or less depends on payload weight)
GameplayReviewUK always backflips
9:56 I'm watching the Sims game :D
All were missing is the james webb and Compton space telescopes
I'm probably not going to jinx james webb but ive added Compton to list ;)
The srbs separate and breaks the shuttle wings pls help
pitch forward a little more on separation maybe?
One more telescope to go = james webb
Wait, where's the real images of Vela Pulsar that Chandra has taken? :v
oh wow I don't remember seeing that one and it's probably the best :D
Did anyone else notice that one of the pictures that telescopes took looked like a smiling face?
Yes - The image at 9:57 is an example of a gravitational lens and it also makes me want a supertaco from Jack In The Box.
Why are you so intelligent???
Alien implants I think
When Mir?
Mir's here czcams.com/video/xG4n5avl0zk/video.html
