Is This the Best Luxury Coach in Malaysia? Penang to Kuala Lumpur with Aeroline!

  • I was spending a couple of days on Penang Island - a lovely place full of interesting people, great food and steeped in history. But the time came to return to Kuala Lumpur and I found myself taking a taxi down to the Queensbay Mall where the office and pick-up point for Aeroline was located.
In this video, I'll be showing you the coach from the outside and inslde. We'll look at everything it's got to offer and I'll show you some of the sights along the way including the amazing Penang Second Bridge and a very unexpected lightning storm once it got dark later on. I'll tell you how much I paid for the journey and show you what you get for your money. And of course, I''ll then be asking the question 'is this the best coach in Malaysia'?
Let me know what you think in the comments below. Many thanks as always guys for taking the time to watch my videos. All likes, comments, subs are massively appreciated and it really encourages me to make more content for you all to enjoy.
    Cheers for now.

As a brit, it's really refreshing to see overseas travel documented in precisely the same style as local travel. No strange colour grading or exotic-looking library footage - just a very familiar firsthand experience. Well done!

The coach is approximately 6 years old looking at the registration plate VH. V is for all vehicles registered in KL, previously it was W. When W plate was exhausted at WYY, the road transport dept switched to V.
Then VA, VB,.. and so on to VC. Now its about VLA.
The bus was built by local company SKS using skeleton chassis supplied by Scania.
Its pretty much normal for an express bus to travel around 2,000 miles per day (roughly 3,500km) - do the math.
Motorway speed limits in Malaysia is similar to UK at 70mph or 110kmh but for commercial vehicles its reduced to 90kmh for safety reasons.
Aeroline also goes to Singapore, i would take it anytime than flying.

For £12 with a hot meal and drink, water, blanket, headphones etc you really can't knock it even with the broken USBs (a usual issue with retrofitted kit). The interior may have been dated but it looked clean and there was plenty of space so I'd say it's much better than a National Express.

      @LetsMakeaTrip  Před 7 měsíci

Prefer train (ETS) over bus ..
    1. Less worry on traffic jam, once took bus from Penang at 2pm and arrived KL Sentral at 11.45pm due to bad traffic jam.
    2. Train more punctual on leaving and arrival time.

I took Aeroline in 2009 from Singapore to KL. The travel time was around 4 hours, however, it was so comfy and cheap, it felt like flying first class. It also helped because i arrived the night before in Singapore from London and i could catch up so proper sleep on the coach.
It makes me think your coach was the same as mine and, although it looked dated, it beats many of the current ones in other countries, esp in Europe.

Not over-impressed with that bus, Mark. I would definitely take the train by preference. Not enough wow! factor to be the 'best bus' and when things don't work as they are supposed to - like the USB ports - it's a mark of corporate 'we don't care'. Not good marketing. You didn't mention whether there was wi-fi on board. I suspect not. another negative. The food, nyah! I've been on better buses in Peru! Excellent commentary and video as usual. Paul in Oz

My goodness. Mark, you traveled on a very, very inexpensive, spotless, clean, comfortable coach and were given a meal to boot and all you did was peevishly complain that the meal was somehow not 'filling' and that the spotless decor on the bus was "dated". I think no one would turn up their nose and refuse to travel on such a "dated" coach - with a meal to boot - than to suffer riding the typical cramped, dirty, jam-packed and poor customer service garbage that passes for coach service here in the U.S. or even in the UK.

I actually said at one point you can’t complain about such a bargain price!! The decor was dated yes, is that not worth pointing out? And who’s turning their nose up? Where have I said i would refuse to travel on it? I’m describing the experience from my point of view. I had a good time overall which I confirmed in my summing up at the end. Great value, hot meal, comfortable ride. Tell you what mate, I get some moaners on here but I’ve gotta say, for once, I actually can’t figure out your comment at all.
