Cyber Yots you have God and religion confused! But many people do. You can’t associate God/Jesus with religion! He’s so much bigger than that. He should get the credit because He’s the One that made you and graced you to do certain things. You would have to know Him to understand what I’m saying, but I’m telling you, He’s bigger than religion. The Creator of all deserves to be uplifted and glorified🙌🏾

My grades have been slipping, to the point where for the first time in my life, I had an F. We had a home game today, but I couldn’t play. From now on, I’m never EVER going to put basketball before my education after watching this documentary about this hero of a coach. Thank you so much, coach Carter.

I've seen the movie "Coach Carter" it is remarkable!
If anybody tell you something can't be done after hearing what they need to do to accomplish it.
Leave those people behind and go accomplish what task that was put before you.
It is not you who will accomplish the task at hand.
But God who is helping you to do it.
Negative thoughts or negative people has never accomplished anything but negativity!

Made me watch my team lose. From the stands.
I put my effort into my grades 1,000%.
Coaches were calling my pops and saying that according to the rules, I was allowed to play. My pops said no. "That's not the deal I have with my son".

Every teacher, coach and other school employee of any level should be like this. It's not about the grades per se, it's about the effort you put into things, the steps you take for your own future, the ambitions and goals you put forward for yourself AND about being realistic about it too. It's great to want to be a famous basketball player, but not every person out there gets what they want and you need to have a second option if it doesn't work out. One of these young men decided to be a doctor, they chose to focus on tings that matter and aim for successful futures, jobs, lives. It's important for every child out there, every teenager. He changed so many lives for the better. This is how it should be.

    @Account-ru8wt Před 8 lety +52

With the whole thing about how he had 7 sisters and incorporated what he learned from them into his school, I wish more people in the black community saw and took away a lot from this movie. Not necessarily everything they covered, but it alluded to a lot of life lessons if not talked about directly. Like if you love your mama and sisters you'd hopefully, logically, have much respect for women the same age as you in your community/school because you'd be very careful how you treat them if you cared about how your sisters and mother were being treated bad- do you have a father? No. Then don't get a girl pregnant and run off. It's just hypocritical to hate someone and follow their footsteps. It SHOULD be a lesson to learn from but instead it's an excuse to do the same thing. So shout out to the many, but unfortunately (for the people they've hurt along the way) not the majority that made a mistake but stuck by. And please, even if you don't have a relationship with your mother, good or none, this still applies to you if someone who should be in your life isn't and you wish they weren't like that but respected you and loved you.
And the same goes for girls- please learn from others around you's mistakes. I know it can be extremely hard to not be influenced by the peer pressure, boyfriend's pressure, reputation/ego to not be a goody-2-shoes virgin but instead the girl everybody loves, etc. But the girl everybody loves is only for the night, and then they forget about you most likely, babe :(. In MOST ALL cases. So try your hardest to love and respect yourself by not giving in.(Because then he will love and respect you too. Set an example and standards or else there are none, unless he's a great guy to begin with, but then there wouldn't be this pressure.) I know you feel like he'll leave if you don't satisfy him, but think hard and realize, no matter how sweet he is and how much you two love spending time with eachother and laugh etc, the priorities: do you want a man who's only with you because you're giving him some and the laughing and cuddling and talking isn't good enough, or do you want to FIND the man who will stand by you otherwise??? And for those where it's 100% consensual and this doesn't apply to you, think about the consequences of having a baby at such a young age. With or without a father is a terrible situation. But especially without the father. Whether he just couldn't handle it, wanted to but couldn't, is a piece of shit and never wanted to help out anyways and you knew it but wanted to believe different, was tricking you the whole time, is chasing a different better life, you thought you could change his desire to stay, or a baby would make him STAY irreleveant completely to the actual relationship problem, etc.
Or think about your religion. I know this at least applies in christianity, where although if you are truly sorry for your sins and ask God to forgive you and make efforts and actions to not continue it then you will be forgiven and enter His kingdom someday- which you will NOT do if you don't follow his word, the bible says that sex before marriage is a great offense, so to say without quoting, to both people involved. So please ask for forgiveness if you love god and want to be an angel someday, because just because you've sinned doesn't mean you will not go to heaven.
But if you aren't religious, please consider all of the other reasons mentioned in order to have the maximum amount of happiness, love for yourself and from others- especially a boyfriend whether or not he's right for you, respect for yourself and by the ones that matter, and character in your life.

The problem is there are too many woke and liberal people that will not let it happen because being like coach Carter requires two very important things. Being a Godly person and tough love.
Wokes and liberals will not let educators of any kind be that way because that kind of person puts a stop to kids becoming like the wokes and the liberals. That's just the truth.

When I was in school I had substitute teachers who kept us all in class during lunch and recess whenever they see one of us misbehaving I use to get mad about that cuz I keep myself outta trouble I just do whatever my teachers ask me to do but if this is a way to increase large amounts of graduates this is something not to argue with because when I got through junior high school we had 30% of us that graduated. During high school I did wrestling and we competed against Edison high school but we won by default because Edison wrestling team lost a lot of team members due to their grade point average and only 2 of them were allowed to wrestle in the duel match.

naw,i haven't really looked but one of the players from the real team was Courtney Anderson who ended up being a tight end in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders and a couple other teams but he didn't play that long. From what I have heard Battle in the movie is supposed to be Anderson

You see… nowadays its different. They are pressing college soo much so that these kids are mostly pressed to either fail or succeed. There is no in between. College nowadays isnt even a good viable option anymore. College is nothing but a scam for most kids that don’t have money. Back then, going to college would have been a good idea. A once in a lifetime opportunity. Thats why they pressed it so hard. Because most kids in those cities didnt have opportunities to go to college because of the backgrounds that they came from, but since their coach expected more from them, they ended up being great and going to college and actually exceeding in every standard of the word.

i do not work in education, but have many family members and friends that do, from coaches, professors, doctors, principals and superintendents. I have coached my kids teams, as well, and the one thing that is ALWAYS a fact of life is that if the kid is a pain in the ass, failure, criminal, dipshit, smartass or general loser... the parents let it happen. Granted, some kids are bred by morons, druggies or idiots, but I hope that kids find a better way. Bless Ken Carter for making a difference.
