I kep telling my Deadhead friends, this guy is the next progression of Jerry (rooted in blugrass, but willing to play across many genres)!! You have to see it to believe it! I'm 59 and I wish I were 29 because I will probably not live to see this guy at his best (I have a condition that is highly likely to take 10 years off my life/stroke survivor). These younger people should appreciate how blessed they are to live in the age of Billy Strings, just like I was blessed to be at so many GD and JGB shows. I already saw three Billy Strings shows in the last year (I've been watching,him and going to his concerts, since he was a kid on the bluegrass festival circuit) and I already have tickets to 2 more shows this year...HOORAY!! If you like Jerry Garcia's music, you should definitely go to see Billy Strings!!
Completely agree. Not many people realize Jerry Garcia's Bluegrass influence, he was a prodigy on the banjo and the way the dead was structure was so similar to how these folks play right now. Funny, Jerry Garcia plays the lap steel on teacher children by csny

You know, just down the eastern hill from Sparta, Galax, and Hillsville...(and yes, the land between Galax and Hillsville is called GayHills) lies Mt. Airy, N.C. I grew up golfing on the Gay Hills Country Club course, complete with swimming pool and tennis court. Just down the way Doc Watson's statue sits on a bench in Boone. Come, gather. We play this all day and all night. BS, have ya tried to get booked in The Earle Theater in Mt. Airy, N.C., it houses the second oldest radio show after the Grand Ole Opry, it is called the Merry-Go-Round. Free Jam on Thursday's and tourist prices on Saturday. Bring it on home. The locals would like to hear dem chops. But they don't pay on Thursday and only $7 each on Saturday.
