I binged caravan of garbage episodes on mushrooms and when James finally got his light saber after fighting through the Tatooine Bees I couldn’t help but break a slight tear of joy. Would recommend

I think the Lion King remake was bad because they didn’t have the Hula scene.
RenegadeCut had an incredible video on what they called “Late Stage Disney” that highlights all the issues with Disney remakes.
I thought the biggest issue with this movie is easily just that there’s zero emotion to anything. I know Mufasa’s death is sad because of the old movie but nothing communicated in this remake makes me feel any emotion because Simba has the same face playing with Nala as he does trying to find out if his father is dead.
Also they do the stupid Disney thing where they’ll overexplain two or three irrelevant beats from the first movie to convince people who live on Cinemasins that now the movies have value because someone once said it’s weird that Mufasa reveals his plan but now he doesn’t.

My first thought watching the Lion King was poor tribute band. Any of the stuff I liked just reminded me of how great the original is.
The Jungle Book remake looked fine, but then again, Bagheera and Shere Khan mostly just had to look sagely calm and angry respectively, which cats are good at. The more nuanced emotions went to Raksha and Baloo, and wolves and bears seem to be able to do more emotionally with mobile doggy brows and stretchy bear lips.

39:00 - I feel like this is another AVATAR situation: it's meant to be a showcase for the technology as presented through a safe and familiar story in order to pay for the R'n'D that went into it, and now that the tech's out there we'll get more interesting/creative uses of it. I mean, hopefully. At some point. When they get done with all the remakes, I guess.

Sorry. Wrong Mason. I have never seen the The Lion King or Titanic. And I wish I would have never seen Avatar. But Battle For Terra I like a lot.
Calling it now, ALL the "action" in Gemini Man, is in the trailer.
Ang Lee's directing, so guessing there's a lot of discussing the nature of humanity and ethics of cloning punctuated by action, which is fine but feel like the trailer is making this out to be an action film.
Then again it's produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Will Smith is in it...Bad Boys II had action (feel chaos is a better term) & no plot, so....
Boy howdy could I go on about how much I hate the very concept of the Lion King remake. Alas I don't feel like doing that. Instead I'll just say I'm not giving it my time or money and neither should you. Black Panther was at least ten times the remake this one is.
