  • It certainly has taken awhile for me to release this. This music documentary showcases the career of Niatia "Lil Mama" Kirkland. Lil Mama is a rapper actress, writer, dancer, and singer who achieved success in music under the age of 20. She is most known for her hit song "Lip Gloss". Lil Mama has endured quite a few ups and downs in her career. She had to deal with almost being blackballed from the industry, after going on stage during Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' VMAs performance. She also had to deal with being publicly shamed by Charlamagne tha God on the Breakfast Club. She faced periods where she was taunted on social media. She overcame her obstacles and defied all odds. She is now currently concentrating on her budding acting career.

Both of them have done much worse by far both in the industry as well as their personal lives and hoped the world would forgive them for not only it happening, but the loudness of it since most of their issues have been so public. She really is. I’m glad I watched this video because it showed me just how talented she is. I was never really checking for her but that’s because I never really knew much about her besides lipgloss, and her collabs with Avril Lavigne, Chris Brown and T pain.

See the problem with people is nobody wants to take there medicine, you jumped your ass up on stage in the middle of business transaction , entertainment is a business and you wouldn't barge in on a meeting at your place of employment now would you!

She did something disrespectful. They are not required to help her. As an artist she should respect how hard other artists work. Her common sense was lacking that night.

Exactly, Jay still don't forgive her yet, when it came to the NFL knee controversy, he gone say, " We are past that." People have amnesia I see 🙄

@@lety431 hood luck with that mindset. That’s the ego talking but it’s far from realistic and what you and all people deserve. That mindset destroys a person dignity. We should all have dignity even in our flaws. Everybody is ignorant about something. The perspective you have won’t be the same as others and when people understand that they will have more compassion and share it with assertive grace. Like she said they could be mad but at least forgive and teach her. They should understand where her head was at...She was only 2 years in and proud but she had to learn quick that wasn’t cool but for them to be ugly and unforgiven is not a good look either. It isn’t about it being a requirement it’s about being decent. Plus to whom much is given much is required. That’s not mentorship at all...To this day they probably still mad and that’s sad...everyone can’t be “cool” all the time and say the right thing I’m super awkward and have a heart of gold with good intentions yet the ugliest hearted people always know how to play it cool....

This was such a great take on lil mama. To be honest I’m not always in the loop of things and I’m sad I missed so much of her later career post VMA mishap. She was a kid and super talented. I’m definitely going to look for these tracks highlighted in this video. Thank you for creating this! I am enjoying the vids on your channel.

Damn Lil mama is strong...didn’t realize that she went through so much. Never paid much attention to her. After watching this, I gotta give it to her...she’s talented. Jay Z and Alicia’s performance sucked, they didn’t even do anything spectacular except for walk around and sing the song. Although she shouldn’t have gone up on stage, they didn’t need to do her like that.. It was bad enough that she humiliated herself. She owned up to it. Out of the thousand shows that they performed, they’re holding a grudge over a 5 minute forgettable performance. I hope Lil mama makes a big comeback, she deserves it.

That performance was so weak. They should have let lil Mama rap. It would have been a lot better and she actually sings better than Alicia Keys.

I don't care what NO ONE thinks or say about lil mama
    She's underrated and gifted
Just because she doesn't sell sex and use profanity aggressively in her music
    She doesn't get recognition
What ever haters keep listen and worshipping sex symbols that y'all make rich !!!

I grew a new found respect for her acting abilities when I saw her performance in the movie “When Love Kills the Falicia Blakey Story.” Many artist that would’ve rolled over and died from drug abuse and alcoholism after the humiliation of Jayz and Alicia. I truly feel the Spirit of her transitioned mother guiding her with Strength and Grace.
