Before Jose Mourhino's sacking from Chelsea, former LUFC chairman Ken Bates gave his views on the manager and some of the events that have transpired this year.
Yep. Took over a bankrupt club heading for Div 3 with a stadium we didn't even own. Left a club in the Champions League with the ground secured and redeveloped. He'll always have my respect.
Spot on Ken is proper outspoken and yes Jose was foolish the way he treated that doctor. I respect what he did now with Chelsea he never sacked his managers yearly like Roman and remains friends with Ranieri and stood by him. Ken even said Mourinho was rude arrogant and would never have employed him at Chelsea if he was still chairman.
Ranieri is a nice guy and a decent manager, but not in the top tier. In 30 years of management across Europe he's won one league title, with Leicester, his Howard Wilkinson moment. The following year he almost got them relegated (booted before he actually did). That Bates would never have employed a multiple league and CL winner (who also had an ego to match his) says as much about Bates as it does Mourinho.
There used to be more of these interviews but they've all disappeared.
Ken bates was a fantastic chairman for us
