    Here I review Noodler's Legal Blue It is a Blue ink. I compare it to 365 other inks tested on its viscosity and dry time, results are shown on a bell curve.
    Writing sample is at 3:17
    I think De Atramentis Archive would be a great complement to the color on the page. I also give my thoughts on Noodler's Legal Blue, all of the opinions are my own.
    I used a Lamy Al-Star with a 1.1 stub nib to take my notes for this video. If you want, you can also follow me on Instagram: / aninkguy

    It occurs to me if the only thing on a contract is this permanent, that the rest can be removed.
    In that case 'anything' could be rewritten on the page.
    I like your approach, Thank You Chris

    cool video i prefer noodler's black because its just as permanent i think but does not bleed anywhere near as much as this does.

      Noodler;s black is much better behaved.

    Very nice, I hadn't looked at this before. I really like the color. But I already have some Noodler's permanent blues; Noodler's Blue-Black which I really like, and Noodler's Air Corp which actually goes on green-black but changes over time (many days or weeks in my experience) into a blue-black (go figure). Now I will say this about permanent inks: it isn't always or even mostly an issue with signatures or forging signatures. Any hand entered business information at all should be in permanent ink. Form info, accounting, ledgers, purchase/sales orders - any and all records which are or could be at some point evidence or accounting information. So while we rely heavily on digital process today, there is still a great need for permanent inks and best practices will use them extensively beyond signatures and checks.

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  Před 5 lety

      I think it is important to have at least one very permanent ink for anything that you might have to worry about being altered, but must remain in an unaltered state. Noodler's bulletproof black is a great one to have. Noodler's does a good job on a lot of permanent inks, but some od them can be a little aggressive. Funny thing is I don't care about a permanent Noodler's ink bleeding through things like contracts or checks.
      I will eventually cover De Atrramentis Document inks. They are also extremely good permanent inks.

      @@AnInkGuy Makes sense. You're not typically composing your memoirs on checks and contracts.
      I have a lot of trouble liking more permanent inks. A lot of them seem kinda dull and lifeless on the page. De Attraments Document Green left me underwhelmed as far as color goes.

      Your point makes sense, but I guess I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to color/shade/sheen/shimmer.

    Is it weird if I say in my experience I feel the dry time to this isn’t good? I feel like that would be weird of me to say because I was writing with it in my yawning 580 and felt like it wasn’t drying very fast. I’ve tested my 54th Massachusetts and it writes great. I have however tested them in smaller nibs Luke the Parker IM medium and the pilot Explorer medium. Could it be the nib size affecting it because I feel like my 54th mass. is drying way quicker

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  Před 3 měsíci

      Not weird. I have heard others say things about the dry time. It seems to be an issue. I do think nib size can matter... a wet large nib will put down more ink verse a fine or dry nib.

      When you see inks you like I always suggest trying a sample first. That way if you wind up not caring for the ink at least you don't have a whole bottle. Sample Responsibly.

    I just got. Bootle of the legal blue. I’m finding the ink blotting on all papers including rhodia. Like a font nib is writing like a broad. Anyone else with the same experience. Noodlers black in the same pens and SA,e paper is writing without any blotting

      I couldn't tell you if they are the same, but with the current name changing that is going on with ink it might be. I did a search for Lapis Blue ink and couldn't find it, so it very well may be.

      I bought a sample of this from Goulet Pens. When I put it in my Pilot VP fine the spread was intolerable. It’s permanent for sure, but it goes down onto paper very wet and spreads. I wanted to use it for note taking and occasional form entry but I just can’t. Small writing looks like a smudge and nothing more. Very disappointed.

    How do you think it compares to the Warden series in terms of forge resistance?

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  Před 2 lety +1

      I would say for water resistance the warden series is often better, but I think the best inks when looking for waterproofness is the De Atramentis Document series.
