- I finally got the chance to try the Monomyth Skeleton Key. Does this amp really not require a boost?
Please keep in mind, I had ZERO time with this amp before I shot the video. I was just kicking tires and checking it out without having ANY knowledge of the features, except for a 5 minute crash course b4 the video.

For me it is just too cool that a common amp type can have so many different sounds and feels.
Shea definitely has it going on. He did up a Vintage Modern for me that absolutely crushes. It has been wonderful watching him from the beginning to where he is now.

This is one bad as 50 watt amp. I'm so impress with this amp.

I am very picky when it comes to heaviness and aggression. The only amp that I want is the EVH stealth with the mudkiller...until this...when you were saying, "that's too much" I was screaming, "no, try it in a mix first!" this could be the only amp to equal the EVH Stealth. Would DIE to hear EVH vs. this Monomyth Skeleton Key!!
Did I just witness you turn the gain down? No way LOL! this amp sounds vicious - does it thump in the room as much as it sounds on the recording?
YES, it does! Chug Chug. As Jarrod said, it's a very tight amp, direct-in!
@@RozsaAmplificationLLC yeah but some amps that are tight (Fortin) are thinner in the low end so boosting them takes out too much thump - even straight in they don't have the punch. Good to hear if this SK does.
@@wizardsouthJP Gotcha. NOPE. Tight and Fat Bottom keeping it tight and not flubby thanks to the Thunder/Storm circuit!! :)

@@rottingcorpse6002 watch for my new models by the end of the year....as an fyi, I have an MBA, been in engineering 30 years, my company has existed for 14 year, I have built or modified over 1,000 amps....and to my knowledge, not one has ever been "flipped"!! 😁✌

Thanks for commenting. I appreciate you sharing your perspective. I would love to show the pedals, however I only have two cameras. So if I had a third camera, I would happily show the pedals. Each camera cost $3,500

The lead tone was not too bright for my tastes... I like a glassy lead tone. But with a programmable midi switchable EQ in the loop the possibilities would be endless That's one incredible sounding amp

I NEVER boost any of Shea’s builds and I own 4. Otherwise, I boost everything else. If you have the blood circuit on you kinda wanna leave the fire switch in the middle unless you are really tuned low cuz It gets bright. Also, you can absolutely dime the thunder and bass and have it stay tight. Shea is a great dude and builder. Open up the amp and look how clean the build is, it’s insane.

I don't know if the Monomyth Skeleton Key's input jacks react the same way as my Monomyth modded JCM800 but if you use the lower input , it should drop a gain stage( at least mine does) making the amp more manageable yet still aggressive and tight. I never see anyone utilize or demo amps using the lower input, which I prefer using. Sounded brutal!! Usually my breakfast dictates NOT using an OD with mine! 😅lol
I only use the lower input on my SK, has a more Plexi voicing and still gets crazy gainy with the boost on the back enabled.
I find the top input more JCM800ish, but bright and probably better for lower tunings.
I have a few captures of this amp for QC that I purchased. Sounds killer. Just a little difficult to dial it in with the few knobs available.
Where did you get the captures from?
Captured aren't really be meant to be dialed. The eq you have there is just an overlay of the unit.

What in the actual fvck do you mean sounds "sterile" lol? I think you have no idea what you're actually hearing let alone what you're saying bud. This amp is made from some of the best components with the tightest tolerantces available to the general public. It's so damn HiFi and 3D it's actually insane, I mean just listen to how tight it stays with that absolutely BONKERS amount of gain on tap. You can dial it in to whatever sound you want, it's completely up to the individual. I think you just arnt a fan of how he specifically has it dialed. I recommend you try one for yourself and give it a test drive and you will see bro. One of the best high gain amps being made today, and I predict it becoming a legend honestly.
@@PerfectCircle91 And with all that, This "to me sounds sterile" I own a multitude of tube amplifiers, Tonex pedal and amplitude five. I have owned many other tube amps over the years and listen to all of these demo's. In my opinion and obviously different from yours it sounds sterile. Everyone doesn't like the same food or drink. Sterile.
