I wanted to try something new this season for a plot screen. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as I hoped. Sometimes mother nature dictates how things will go.
Few thoughts: You need better weed control/ Round up, till 2 weeks later Simizine at planting And 2-4d ( broadleaf) and quinclorac (grasses) 12-15 feet wide is best for width.
I agree with the comment above. I would add why do you want sorghum as a plot screen? Deer eat sorghum. Bad idea as screen imo. Egyptian wheat is great. I would say try Northwoods whitetails 3D screen blend. Best on the market. I would wait until the end of June because it will actually get too tall.
Yes soil is good. Planted my place and a buddy plant his on another property at the same time. Same result. Will go back to the Egyptian wheat. Have had success with it for years. 8 inch flood coupled with a fall drought took it out for us this year.
@@camofamilyoutdoors Interesting, If you got hit with a big rain fall, I'd plant it again, or at least a test area of it. You said it yourself; the stalk alone is thicker so it will last much longer than the Egyptian wheat into the winter months. Both plants like the warm dry weather. Either way, good luck heading into 2023!

Just planning to switch back to Egyptian wheat. Have planted it for 6 years with no major issues the same way.
But thanks for the advise. I have another location I may try again.

Good info, I struggle with getting enough sun on my screens as well.
Yeah they sure do better in full Sun for sure. Good luck to you. Thanks for watching
I feel like something is off, I see this stuff planted all over and its thick and huge. Have you done a soil sample?
