Planting Buckwheat as a cover crop
We decide to try Buckwheat as a cover crop. We drilled it directly into our existing cereal rye cover crop. Then we followed up with the crimper to ensure crop termination. Time will tell on how successful this planting will be.

Chris and I take off for Missouri for a turkey hunt. The weather is cool but the hunting is not. Lots of action for us in the Show Me state.
Carport Build (DIY)
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed 4 měsíci
My son and I tackle a DIY project together for mom. We attempt to build a beam carport out of fur beams. We show all the steps we did from start to finish. We are pleased with the results we achieved. And most importantly, mom approved.

.great video..i started using that seed for a screen..do a follow up video once it's matured..splitting the food plots is a must ..besides the bucks having to come out to see whats in em..keeps doe family groups happier..where you've got food/cover you've got does..during hunting season ,you've got does ,you'll have bucks
Do you have a material list for it? Is it 24 by 24 thanks
@@krikett7894 true 6x6x10 post and 4x12x24 beams 24x24
How much does the no till drill cost?
Around 10k
Hello, nice build. What are post and beam dimensions? Also the side beam dimensions on the top?
True 6x6 post and 4x12 beams
Very nice!!!
really enoyed the planting vids with the genesis, been looking to get into a no till / crimp setup for our hunting land.
Best of luck to yall! 👊
This is a great video. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@camofamilyoutdoors I just put my egyptian wheat down in SE Michigan, and we have 98% chance of rain this evening. I needed to confirm a few things, and your video answered all of my questions.
Man those plots are gonna look awesome. that 3ft drill is the perfect size for plots yall have any complaints about it?
It’s a slower process but big results we hope.
Get you a first week of August radish plot planted for those early bucks...
Our problem is we are usually so hot and dry then. Past few years we didn’t get to plant until almost October. Hoping better this season.
@@camofamilyoutdoors catch an early August Rain and the no till method you guys are doing will help.. Thats been the only reason I have been able to have fall plots the last 3 years.. No till. First week of August is usually good for a good rain. Good luck!
Summer release in 7-8 weeks?
💪👍👊
Willow has like a 100% germination rate
Drill first, then mow.
💪👍👊
Good job, What’s the smallest tractor you think could handle that drill?
Chris’s is a 40 and it’s a load for sure
I reached out to Ph-outdoors and as long as you have the lifting capacity at 24” on your 3 point you will be fine. I have a nh1720 that’s 28hp with 1750lbs of lift and I am going to try a G3
You wouldn't want anything with less than #1500 of 3 point capacity at 24".
@@scotwolf9280 I still have some concern about not having enough horsepower pulling a drill with that kind of weight through any dirt
@@StevenPfeiffer I think you'd be fine. Low gear and slow. Drills really don't take a lot of hp to pull. It takes way more HP to pull a 5 1/2' disc than pulling a drill.
Big rock trees still have silky willow cuttings available. Deer will eat hybrid willows to the dirt so protect those for a couple years.
Thanks for the info
Great looking blind.
I wish they would make a 3ft light. I have a NH 1720 that’s 28hp. I still think this is the way to go over other drills.
Awesome hunt and video.
Thanks 👍
WCC!
Glad to see you’re all’s hunts l can’t get out this year because of hip surgery hopefully I can get back out this fall
What state are you guys in, seems to be hot!!
Arkansas and yes, Hot
Thanks for the video, perfect timing, answered a few questions! Disking, seeding and fertilizing this weekend. I applied herbicide 2 weeks ago, 24-D.
Good luck! Hope it’s awesome
Ballpark cost? 5k?
8ish
what are the dimensions?
24x26
Looks great
Really cool build.
🔥🔥
I have it on my propery sw mi. Been putting stakes out but if you can pot then plant you will have better take....deer love it.
Don’t forget my invite..
Count on it
How high are your panels? I was thinking about going with 4ft ones but after watching that pig jump I'm thinking I may need some that are higher
Yeah 4ft I think
Use five ft panels. Large pigs can get over four ft panels easily. They don't just jump, they climb.
This worked for me at first. Then they figured out how to lift the door and completely bend it to bits. Time to combine some ideas bc these porkers aren’t going to win!
Cool video, thanks for sharing the info!
As a bow hunter from Alberta, Canada I can say the best hunting is always in colder weather! Hunting in -20 Celsius can be tough if I’m sitting still.
Man from Canada! Awesome!
you don't want to cut all the branches.
I dont know im a southern boy. I let my little dog walk on it. I couldnt bust through it with a rock. Proceeds to walk on it and consider it good. If only he had a cutting insturment with him to check the thickness....lol Just giving you a hard time. It was just funny listening to you justify walking on it.
I hope they won’t brown and become unattractive 😊
great content but it would be cool if you told us what survived and wasn't brown
Winter wheat and rye are both still green
Yep
Choot em!
Food plots are a total game changer if you ask me. If you own land you hunt on and do not have a food plot, you are making a huge mistake. I started food plotting 10-11 years ago and it was an immediate difference maker. I wish I had started 10 years earlier.
Right on! I planted my first in the year 2000. Haven’t missed a year since. Good luck!
Easiest I've seen is the "Pig Brig". Totally passive. No doors, gates, etc. Lightweight setup.
💪👊👍
*FACTS* Kept my family together thru the cold war and covid
I have a question how is the stand attached to the blind . I saw you set it up but was wondering if a high wind would be able to knock it off the platform. Even though I know the house part is very heavy but in the winds we have I think if it’s not angered to the stand itself it would topple it off .
Yes it is bolted to the angle iron metal frame
I agree about the cameras. We have switched to Covert cameras as the Spartan cameras break. We used to have 12 Spartan Cameras and only 2 that are working currently. So far, the 3 Covert cameras haven’t had the problems that we have had with Spartan.
Yeah I’ve had pretty good luck with Covert so far.
Would you be willing to send me the exact measurements of the build without a stand on the bottom also without the window cuts please.
7ft across the back, 36 inch walls on 3 sides
Well mine has a short center wall.
But can you eat it?
Thanks for the advice
