I’m Japanese, but I don’t feel Japanese. I speak the language and have the blood but feel so disconnected. I study architecture in Tokyo but can’t find the beauty of Tokyo. I go for walks all over Tokyo, only to be disappointed in myself. I love architecture and wouldn’t trade my major for anything, but I still feel so unsatisfied. Why can’t I see the beauty in Tokyo? I admire your courage in taking risks. I love how open you are about your life. You describe things in the same language we all understand, yet in a way we’ve never seen before. Watching your films is truly a beautiful experience. Japanese people aren’t risk-takers. They all go along the path designed for them. I feel left out not wanting to take that path. But I’m too scared to walk somewhere else. Im still a scared 18 year old kid. But one day, I hope to be like you. P.S I started going out on walks at night too so, we might actually run into each other lmaoo.
all of us strangers omfggg my friend recently pointed out to me that we say 'hi' not 'bye' when passing strangers on the roads/trails here. "we're never going to see them again, so shouldn't it be 'bye' instead?" she asked. I noted that in order to say goodbye, we often first say hello. and so, these moments become not ends, but open-ended. hello! until . . . ? I like to think there's a way to live like this, always hello. I hope I figure it out
