- salmon fishing on the river Thurso Day 4 . the water temperature is still around 20oC fresh fish are entering the river each day but are put of going for the fly after coming from the cold North Sea into the warm river

Cracking looking water and you were unlucky with them playing silly buggers . Always a fan of sticking on a big tube fly and hand lining it back through them when they are showing like that . Great videos

as you have experienced Scottish weather and know that we can have all four seasons in one day . when we are up north we always hope for a bit of rain and cloud cover. Some times it ends up tropical weather and would be better having a day on the beach Cheers Iain. 🥃

Once again iain the water was perfect and the weather a bit temperamental but fish were showing but none wanted the fly, you were unlucky in the first half of the video but I was surprised at how many were in the pools but not having any of it. Great video though Iain and no doubt the best is yet to come. Atb. Steve. 🍷
The water looked perfect Steve but the temperature was too high. lots of fresh fish about but with them coming in from the cold to warm water they were having none of it Dash six will be a better watch 😉. Cheers Iain. 🥃. Ps was out yesterday and that should hopefully turn out well if I can edit it
hard day Ian august is generally a hard month to fish for salmon any fish in the river are usually stale and are hard to intice roll on an autum run and a bit cooler weather
there was a trap to catch the pink salmon entering the river and they did get one over the week that I fished Thomas . They also caught a vast amount of fresh fish and about 50% were in their teens . these fish were seen running the river but out of the 24 anglers fishing the river no one caught a sea lice fish . The consensus was that the water temperature was that warm it was putting the fish off. Cheers Iain 🥃
Nice day....just a bit too nice! Got your name in the cap? Lost count of the number I've had blown off over the years. I never had them on too tight to avoid headaches!!😂 The one that came off (not the cap) looked a good pull. There's still time Iain......😎👍👍

The fish always has the last word Paul and I think with the water being so warm that they were a bit lethargic and never took a decent grip. Cheers Iain 🥃
Do you ever use weighted nymphs,egg patterns, etc under an indicator?
no Robert I haven't tried that tactic . I know a lot of trout anglers that use that method and it looks more like bait fishing with another name Cheers Iain 🥃
@IainSB Traditional swinging flies is cool. I fish small Great Lakes tributaries on slow drifts are the ticket.
